i'm to the point where it's more what my wife says than my parents. when she saw how happy i got today when i bought a couple mattels, she said that it was all good and that she loved seeing me so happy - and as long as i don't go overboard and keep the spending under control, she's 100% behind my hobby. hope things work out for you. (btw- it could just be that this is a financially stressful time for parents especially and they don't want you to end up strapped in the future. i dunno, could be anything really. best of luck.) same boat, my parents don't care but my girlfriend gets on my case about being a dork or whatever but after she sees how happy i am when i get new figures she realizes how much the hobby means to me and gets off my case.

My mum and dad love my hobby really, my mum is always shouting me in her room and asking me if 'these figures are any good' that she's found on sale at argos or somewhere like that xD My dad will order them online for me too and most the time won't expect me to pay him for them but usually I do (: The only time they don't co-operate is when I want to go TRU because it was quite a walk and 9 times out of 10 was a pointless journey and I could have found better selection at tesco xD I'm 17 btw.

My dad really supports my figure collecting. The only person who has a problem with it is my Mom. She says im getting to old for it and need to "broaden my horizons" and spend my money on more important things like Clothes and Shoes. But I really wanna start buying Mattel, I'm gonna have my dad drive me over to TRU or Target to see what they have. I really want the Miz/Morrison and Glamarella 2 pack! Those are on my Huge Wants list!

If you have the money to give them than it shouldn't make a difference what you're spending it on, they're just figures at least your money isn't going to drugs and other bad crap like that. I can't say this has happened to me because i kept my mom out of the loop when it comes to my figures plus i prefer just going to the stores, a thrill of the hunt type thing, but yeah sorry bro that really sux... I would go to stores but the closest toy store is 30 minutes away and I'm only 14 so I can't drive. Lol, same here, the nearest store here in Uk is about 45 mins drive away so I get my Mum to drive but gets annoyed because its a long drive so if they dont have the the fig/s I want then its waste, My family think its fine to collect

My parents are always complaining about them. They say I waste my time and money buying them and animating when I could be studying. They also give me the same excuse about how I'm too old and sometimes like to use my figure collecting against me (I'm 16 btw.) I mean thats pretty much the only thing I have to collect and I would have nothing else to do with my money if I weren't collecting figs.

Yeah it sorta happens to me. Not necessarily the same situation but similar. I'm going to college so I'm very very tight on money as are my parents. When I was in high school and junior high and even elemantary school they would take me to buy them alot, my mom mostly though.
Neither one of them have a problem with my collecting(my sister does though) but now it's RARE that I ever even get the chance to go out buy them. Which is why it sucks sooooo bad that Mattel is releasing all these lines. I know some people like all the lines but I absolutely hate it because it is so difficult to get all the ones you want.
My mom said she did not get me any figures for Xmas because she didn't know which ones I wanted, which is a good thing, but she said when she goes to buy stuff for my niece that I could come along and pick out some figs, so I'm stoked about that. Plus I'm gonna be selling my jakks figures and a bunch of video games to get some money.
I wish everyone in this thread the best of luck in obtaining these bad boys. Good luck bras!

Yestrday at Tru, some kid had a bunch of MAttels in his hand, one of which was ( the only) Rey Mysterio Elite. As he and his mommy were arguing over whether or not to buy it I was discretely listening and hoping he'd put the figure down. Alas, he did not. He walked off with a handful of figures. About a minute later he comes back with all the figures including Rey and puts them back. His mom said he could get them but i think he was conflicted about spending so much money. SO he walks off and I swoop in and snag the Elite Rey. As I'm walking towards the front he comes walking back towards me, spots the Rey in my hand, and turns around and says to himself..Man, this sucks. I was lol! Twas a great feeling to snag the Rey but so funny to see these kids miss out on this stuff...When I'm looking for stuff for myself, they just annoy the crap outta me!

My parents don't mind what I buy or how much I buy, as long as I pay for it myself. So i'm all good in that departement. agreed same with me but heck they even help me out sometimes

My mom may think they're a waste of money, but it's my money; she really has no choice but to let me use it how I want.

For my 22nd Birthday my Grandma get me 4 CS figs, and every time my mom goes into a store she calls me if she sees a Batista fig to see if my wife has it or not and picks up any for me if I need them, well be for i sold most of them and Mattel came out (I am not starting over and I play and dont like mixing figs, yes 24 now and I play with them).
When I was working in toys at WalMart there was this kid that would come in looking for me to talk about the wrestling figs, his mom thought it was great that an adult knew about this stuff because his friends said he was "to old" to play with toys and she said as long as he is happy she was fine with it. He was 12, I got him a Rey for his birthday, he could never find one

My Mum says my figs are everywhere and that I need to stop etc but my Dad would stop at the toy store for me when i'm near one with him.
Im 14 aswell and being in britain there arent many figs but I say when you do come across one just be descrete and if your mum tells you not to buy them tell her, 'Ok, i'll invest in drugs'. Im gonna use that one myself lol.

When I was a kid, I always wanted GI Joes so bad but my parents would never buy them for me, well most of the time. On the flip side, you also had grandparents who would spoil you and buy them for you. Now, my parents hate that I am always spending my money on figures, but my father is always spending his money on electronics and crappy DVD movies so he is no different from me.

if their telling you your too old for them explain to them you getting too old to be told what to do with your own money, that will fix em good
and no never happened i am 23 and my parents will still get me a figure or two for christmas if i ask, long as its available online and they dont gotta go to stores anymore their just sick of stores and searching

My parents are pretty supportive of what I want to buy and I think they're more or less happy that I have fun or enjoy collecting figures than doing drugs. There's a lot worse things out there than playing with toys. My parents understand that.

I find it funny how people rationalize their collecting by saying they could be doing drugs instead, as if those are the only two choices in life, lol

My parents have both grown to realize my love for the wrestling world I guess and while they probably dislike the fact that I'm collecting figs, they are supportive because they know it is something I enjoy.
