A matchup between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and challenger Vitor Belfort is in the works for UFC 112 on April 10 in Abu Dhabi, according to Tatame, which reports that both fighters have contacted an Abu Dhabi gym about training at the facility ahead of the fight.
Silva (25-4) has won a record ten-straight UFC fights since debuting in 2006, including a title defense over Thales Leites in April and victory over Forrest Griffin in a non-title bout in August, but has been sidelined since September from elbow surgery but recently resumed training.
Belfort (19-8), a PRIDE veteran and former UFC light heavyweight champion, scored back-to-back knockouts of Terry Martin and Matt Lindland in Affliction before return to the UFC in September with a first-round knockout of Rich Franklin.
UFC 112 is also expected to feature lightweight champion BJ Penn, as well as the UFC debut of Renzo Gracie against former welterweight champ Matt Hughes.
