um to me it was John Cena he just so fake and then sheamus Well then. You obviously don't know what the meaning of the word "over" is. And Bob Backlund was plenty over

Wasn't JBL like...not over when he first won the belt?

More to the point, wasn't JBL still the pointless lower-mid card Bradshaw three months prior?

um to me it was John Cena he just so fake and then sheamus Sheamus, isn't really over, but he's barely into his title reign. For me Diesel wasn't a really over champion. For the first few months he did alright, but once HBK returned as a face, he became more over than Diesel

The Great Khali was WHC, right? Cause if not- I would have to say him.

Batista held the title for one day because someone thought it was a good idea to have an injured man win a cage match. I guess he counts. Kane's reign was lackluster because someone thought it was a good idea to put a guy who wears a full body suit and mask in a first blood match.
If we look at the World Heavyweight Championship. Shawn's 02 run was pethetic. Great Khali's run was boring, Rey Mysterio's was booked horribly.
Sheamus' run is better than Rey Mysterio's run imo. Bit is still one of the worst wwe title runs of the modern era.

I would say he is a top contender. I mean he won it so quick and didn't really do anything prior to winning in an upset.

I have no stance on Sheamus, so he's not really over with me.

Sheamus is not over at all, and they need to take the title off him quickly! Whoever said John Cena wasn't over is just stupid

Sheamus could get to the point where he's over enough to be champion, maybe months or a year down the line, but not now, not with the title on him. WWE is going to effectively ruin him and his character before he ever gets a real chance to prove himself, because once he loses the belt, he's going to drop unbelievably fast in the rankings and then people are just going to forget about him.
But yeah, he's one of the least over champions of our time, without a doubt.

Two bad things with Sheamus:
1.) We weren't given a reason to hate him before he won the title. 2.) We still haven't been given one.

Sheamus isn't over because he's hardly ever even on the God damn show!!!!!!!!!!!! And as WWE Champion they are still booking him like a mid-carder when he actually appears! The WWE Champion vs. Evan Bourne?
I think WWE realizes they made a mistake with Sheamus and that he's not the type of heel that appeals to the mass audience and they are just basically only showing enough of him so that he's there but not showing too much of him so that he gets over-exposed for being as green as he is until they figure out what they want to do with him AKA who they want him to drop the belt to (Cena or Orton probably).

Who cares if he's "over" or not? People need to think for themselves, I hope he holds the title for years.

um to me it was John Cena he just so fake and then sheamus I think there have been worse champs than Sheamus, who is still growing into his role. Khali could barely move. He had gotten mocked by fans (not in a good way) but Vince's obsession with big guys got him a reign. Sgt. Slaughter was aging when he came back to the WWF (initially, he was VERY out-of-shape too) but quickly won due to the Iraq War angle. It was terrible and it made the main event at WM 7 terrible. As much as Bob Backlund's 1st reign was over with the fans, his heel reign wasn't. He was another old wrestler who hadn't been with the company for years but suddenly won the gold. Terrible booking. Randy's Orton's first reign as champ was a failure as well. Booked as a face but he got booed. Too much, too soon. Hopefully, that isn't the case w/ Sheamus.
