I was watching a Hulk Hogan documentary on the bography channel today and there was a scene showing round his merchandise room and there is an item shown that i've never seen before.
It was a plaster set in a black box with a number of the wrestlers on the front that look identical to the Hasbro series 1 figures. I guess you could then mold solid versions of these figures out of plaster. Looks really interesting.
Does anybody know anything about this?

the only thing i can think of is a WCW/NWO set, it was kind of plain and generic play-doh molds. They were much smaller than Hasbro's though. the box folded into a ring or something I think. But it wasn't really anything special

There are actually two different plaster sets. The other one was the winged eagle belt, and made a surprisingly good replica.
I have one of those figure ones around somewhere, too. They're both open, but I still have the boxes. The plaster molds were made out black rubber, and the figures looked like the Hasbros, but just a bit smaller. I think it came with paint, but I could be wrong.
I could never get the plaster molds to work very well as a kid. Maybe I should give it another go some time if I can find it.

I had that as a kid! I was recently looking for that on Ebay. That would be great to use in making customs.

Actually the plaster set shown above is not worth a lick if you want to make the figures, the molds are plastic that snap together but they leak the plaster very badly and if you do rig something up to keep them together the seam line is horrible, cool collectible but not good at all if you want to produce the figures....... There is another mold set (which I still have) and it's made of rubber 1 piece shell molds and it works perfect for casting copies (actually what I did was cast 1 of each 4 figures out of resin and then I made a silicone rubber mold of the items and then made duplicates from that)... There is 4 characters with accessories (they are on a pedastal/stem base).. Hulk hogan w/weight dumb bell, Ultimate Warrior no add ons, British Bulldog w/ wilson (the dog after matilda) and Jake the snake with damien wraped around him and holding his head........ I'm sure you can check the database here and see pics of what I'm talking about.. This is the best mold set out of all the wwf/wcw sets that were released and it actually does work ( The rest of the mold sets for use are pretty much junk IMO)..

I had a plaster set as a kid and you had to pour the plaster into these things that for lack of a better word looked like a weird red condom. you left them upside down for about 12 years and hten if they didn't break when you took them out you could paint them . I c an not remember exactly who was in it but for 100 percent I know Jake Robberts was. Was a good thing but my painting sucked big time lol

I fi remember correctly it was Hogan, Warrior, Jake and Bossman and it came with paint too

That has weirdly tripped something with me. Were they on little pedestal bases? Mine definetly weren't like the hasbros.
Weird how these red condoms spark so many memories!

The ones in this set were definitely black two-piece molds. I'd like to see the one with the red molds. It sounds like it had better figures.

^ in response to the 2 above posts yes now that you mention it I am sure they were the wrestlers that was included. And yeah I def remember them being on a base it was kind of circular. And it did come with paint but like most things like this they gave you the minimum amount of colours so you had to use other paint if you wanted them to look like they did on the box. Not that having the extra paint would have made mine look any better lol.
Funny how my great wordsmanship of "red condom" has cause memory flash backs lol. I tried to find a set on ebay but had no clue how to word it to find what I was looking for.
