Picked up him, Evan Bourne and Elite MVP today, finally they have them in. Both are MOC as we speak, but I'm not sure if I should open them. I always have this problem when I buy them new, I hear Kofi Kingston is rare but I'll most likely have no intention of selling him even if he was. I'm a loose collector FYI. Another problem is the MVP, this is undoubtedly his best figure ever, and I think it would look great signed. So what do you think? Open or not?

he's not rare my kmart has a load of him. So you reckon I should open all three? Don't want to feel guilty later on or anything, is there a way of opening them without tearing the carding? Just so I can celotape it back incase.

Just open it carefully Jason, Mattel boxes are sooo much easier to open without completely wrecking the box.

No figure is going to be rare at this moment; however, in a year or two any of the figures may become "rare" depending on how desired they are.

The Mattel figures are mass produced, there is not going to be anything rare about them. The 1/5 Jakks Warrior is rare, the Hasbro Kamala with the moon is rare.

Everyone else seems to have found him. I would open him, especially since you say you are a loose collector. ...and btw, you forever win for that pic of Lady Gaga in your sig. I loves me some Gaga.

I say open them. Kofi was actually the last figure I was able to find from series one. Since then I see him everywhere I go. Nothing rare about them...yet.

You can open Elites without damaging the packaging at all. I'd say open them anyway, they're great figures.
Where did you pick them up from, out of interest? I didn't think they'd hit any stores this side of the Atlantic yet.

I've had the privilege of being able to open three fresh cases of basics, and in all of them there were two figures for each superstar in each case.
I guess Kofi is just more popular in certain areas than in others. Here in Vancouver at my local TRU, there have been 4 Kofi's shelfwarming since release day.

Someone said that rare = Kamala w/ moon & Warrior 1/5...
lol... those are beyond rare. I guess you can define rare in whatever way you want. But to me, the Warrior/Hogan CSTT is rare as are The Rockers and LOD CSTT 1... Series 1 CSDA are rare, as is the Mankind IE.
But to quantify rare as Warrior 1/5 and Kamala w/ moon is silly. They are beyond 'rare'.

Are you sure they just aren't hard to find, because there is a difference between hard to find and rare.

...and btw, you forever win for that pic of Lady Gaga in your sig. I loves me some Gaga. Agreed. Surprisingly Kofi seems to be easy to find both on shelves and on eBay. Even the 1/1000 is cheaper than any of the others. My first Mattel figure and I like it no matter how unrare he is. I say open but I too am a loose collector so I tend to open everything.
