I like repaints because they save me money. I only buy 1 copy of each wrestler. 1 Cena 1 HHH etc.. of course the basic line will cost me because the first 4 series have 24 different wrestlers but when repaints start happening in the single basic line which is the only line I collect I will buy less figures.

They are already looking like Jakks. At least Jakks started solid without a bunch of repaints. Let's not be so hasty. As soon as the BCA line started, series 2 came out hot on the heels of series 1, just like Mattel is doing. There was a repainted Bret Hart as well as a repainted Shawn Michaels in series 2, and both were rereleased again in two-packs, along with a repainted Razor and Diesel. ::edit:: come to think of it, Undertaker was rereleased in series 2, also. Not to mention the tons of box sets Jakks started putting out almost immediately, which would contain one or two repaints and the rest were straight rereleases. Jakks was even rereleasing figures from BCA series 1 by the time series 3 came around - not to mention sets like the Signature Series, Best of '97/'98, etc. I can think of at least 7 times Jakks released the same Bret Hart figure in 1997 alone, and geez, let's not even get into the Austins! Even right out of the gate, Jakks was always the king of the rehash.

No because I know I'm not the only person out there who buys action figures. There's new people buying WWE figures every day so there's going to be tons of the main guys released in various attires just like Jakks did. They are the face of the WWE. It just means there might be less figures I'm intrested in purchasing in future lineups. But the beauty is nobody is forcing me to buy them...It's my choice on what I put in my collection. So no I don't care that there are repaints coming. Personally I think it's good that 2 months from now somewhere out there little Billy might be asking his parents to buy him his his first WWE figure and there's a John Cena or Rey that he wants on the pegs. I agree. It gives me and my wallet a nice break and if I really like a repaint why the hell not buy it! I still think their John Cena is worlds better then any Cena I have ever had.

I think a lot of times people on these boards just forget that this is a product line meant for both collectors and the CASUAL consumer. The casual consumer - the "WWE Universe" or the "marks", if you will - makes up more of the market than us collectors. Are you concerned about Marvel figures because they make so many freaking Wolverine repaints?
That being said, the collectors are still a very large and important part of the consumer base for wrestling figures. Mattel recognizes this and they have responded with the same sort of enthusiasm about us as we have about our hobby by giving us unprecedented detail and options. We're lucky that they care that much.
To panic about anything regarding these Mattel figures at this point is not only premature, but it's fretful and paranoid. It's almost like some people are LOOKING for reasons to knock Mattel. The fact is, in one month Mattel has already blown away the YEARS of the flavorless-porridge that was the Jakks product. Why are we looking for things to MAYBE be worried about? If Mattel scaled back their effort 50% on this line it would still be TWICE as good as what we used to have to settle for.

So basically Mattel is already doing the same thing as Jakks used to do.....with the only difference now that people assumably accept it from Mattel, while Jakks is being bashed for it.....I really do not get it!

They are already looking like Jakks. At least Jakks started solid without a bunch of repaints. What?! Seriously? John Cena and Rey Mysterio had 3 figures in the first 6 RA lines. Cena = RA1, RA3, RA5. Mysterio = RA1, RA3, RA6. And Goldberg's first RA figure was RA4. He turned around and got another figure in RA6. So that argument of Jakks not having repaints in the start is shot.

I never once complained about repaints from jakks because I know there will always be repaints of the main guys. We aren't the only people buying the figures so they aren't going to cater to my wants they are always going to keep releasing the popular guys because 1 it's cost effective and 2 there's always going to be new first time customers/collectors to the WWE line who will wantto be able to walk into a store and find HHH, Undertaker, Batista, Rey, Cena, Orton, HBK etc. And that won't happen unless there's repaints. My main complaints with Jakks were always - 1. Poor scale (Studd smaller than Heenan) 2.Details - Missing logos or wrong parts choice when they had the correct parts to choose from (laced boots when LOD shouldn't have laces) or the Shopzone WMX7 HHH (upside down logo and the wrong head, torso & boots when they ad the correct parts to choose from) I never complained or d@mned Jakks about a repaint...even at the end of the CS line when they were pulling the new first time guys like Patterson & Blackjacks for repaints. Sure I wasn't happy, but I understood why they were doing it and still bought the figures I did want. And when they start their TNA & NWA classics I expect it to be the same. And I'll still support the line and buy the guys I like.

Not at all.
I would elaborate, but it isn't necessary.
I am not bothered by repaints at all.

yes. I love to have only one, eventually outdated, figure. I mean who wants updated attires? If you are a Rey Mysterio fan why would you want to have a few different figures of him that capture his colorful and exciting outfits? Why would anyone want that new John Morrison, a mean do people really think it looks better than the red one? Don't even get me started on Cena, that guys figure never sell well and even though he changes merchandise ever 3-4 months there is absolutely no need for Mattel to try to keep up. I say make one figure of each superstar and then stop making them. That's the best way for a company to make money and ensure the lasting success of a brand.

I dont mind repaints of popular guys like Cena or Mysterio. If I missed out on Basic 1 or Heritage Cena, I could at least get the Survivor Series one. I cannot stand repaints of guys whose first or second figures never sold like Jakks used to do with Mr Kennedy, The Highlanders, etc.

There's a reason why he's on pretty much every single main event on RAW and PPV's because fans relate to him. As for your idea on making one figure of each and then no more, you won't do well in business. Repaints of wrestlers like Undertaker, John Cena... are made as they are big names and collectors will have the opportunity of getting their figure if they missed it the first time. I just feel sorry for the people that have their minds set on buying every Mattel figure released.

If anyone, for even a second thought that the WWE's toy line would be anything less then 60%+ repaints going foreword after the first year then you haven't been paying attention to anything in the past decade roster wise or figure wise.

Mattel, Basic series 1,2,and 3 all have different figures in it - no repaints or reuses ... Jakks first 3 series gave us a total of 13 different figures....Mattel's first 3 series are giving us 18 different figures, with no repaints...

Re-paints are fine, infact I love being able to choose between two or three different colors. The Re-Releases are what bothers me.
