Today Mattel released proto and MOC images of their Survivor Series PPV line which included updated figures of The Miz and John Cena in their current attires.
Now, at Ringside-fest, we saw proto pics of Elite Series 3 figures of John Cena in his old attire with blue arm bands, and the Miz with his old attire in shorts.
PPV Series 2 is set to come out in March. Elite Series 3 is set to come out in April. Do you think Mattel will still release the Elite figures in their outdated attires a month AFTER we get them in Basic form in their CURRENT attires? Or will Mattel make a running change and alter the attires of the figures in Elite Series 3 despite showing us early proto images already?

They'll release them because they've already invested in the tooling. At this point, they've also likely already been produced, or are currently in production. With the lead time necessary to meet the ship date for the waves that are due in April, it's simply too late to pull them from release or alter them.

Because Survivor Series was in November. If Mattel can't get out figures fast enough to make Elite 3 have current attires, how come PPV 2 is coming out so soon? November to March is 4 months. With Jakks we are used to it taking at LEAST 9 months for something changed on TV to get changed on a figure. If they can make figures fast enough to get an exact attire on a figure 4 months later, they should be able to update Elite Series 3 which is 3 months away. AND since we have just been shown MOCS, Mattel actually produced this PPV Series 2 in 2 months to the date (Nov 22).

I'd say they will probably stay the same becauseif we saw the protos that means the WWE had already signed off on them and they had probably gone into production already.

This in my opinion is why Mattel is awesome, if there is a superstar that is wearing a new outfit and we want to get him or her quick, then get active and go to facebook and vote for it!

Mattel has stated that the PPV lines are meant to be released as close to the actual events as possible (but I can't remember the expected turn-around time - 90 days?). It's also meant to showcase the superstar's attire at that event. The entire lineup of Elites was decided and produced mostly last year. Since the PPV series is their "speed line" that tries to stay as current as possible, I think we'll see this kind of thing happening from time to time.

When you consider that PPV 2 is comprise of already created molds, it is much easier to get them done and out quicker. Elite 3, from what I remember, utilizes a good amount of new molds. The cost associated with never before used molds, plus the extras that we get in the Elite series wouldn't allow to them to change anything this late in game.

So buy both? Elites are still bound to be great figures, no matter how outdated they are.

be glad that the elite miz is coming out with his old attire because if they re did it he doesnt come out with anything but the us belt so its cool to get the shirt and hat and it will be the first time we get the dog tags with cena which is a cool minor detail something jakks had plenty of time to do and didnt bother

When they release an Elite Morrison (with a better scan), wouldn't it be nice to have an outdated Elite Miz for the people who may want to use them as a tag team? Just something I thought I'd bring up. - That's one reason they should keep it as is.
