I would have recommended Prison Break, but as that just ended a few months back...that's out of the picture. I'm pretty fond of The Mentalist and NCIS. They're pretty good shows, not quite like 24 or anything...but they are interesting. I also like The Big Bang Theory...but it's not a drama, it's a comedy so...I'm not sure if you are into that or not. However, if you are...I would definately check that out too.

Watch the American version of the Office.
They're oldies but goodies, but check out Freaks and Geeks or Arrested Development.
Also Scrubs or My Name Is Earl.

Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, Entourage, Weeds, + South Park are all cool.
I know you said not to say Dexter again but I highly recommend it.

Mentioned, but U.S. The Office. Watching them for the first time is fun, especially if you do it by watching them for the first time all over a weeks/months span like I did.
Drama wise, I know Mad Men is very popular.

FlashForward (if you love lost, your pretty much guaranteed to like this) Californication (hilarious show about a washed-up writer and all the trouble he gets into) Scrubs (very funny and original) How I Met Your Mother (hilarious show, very original)

Hurricane's suggestion about Californication made me remember one: Bored to Death on HBO. The forst season was about 8 episodes, and It's a very smart comedy with Ted Danson, Zach Gallifanakis, but Jason Schwartzman is the Main star of the show.

I really don't understand how people can watch so much TV.
I'm not bashing anyone in this thread, I'm just saying. I watch Dexter and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Other than that, I can't watch TV. I have to do something, I go stir crazy.
