Chael Sonnen says Anderson Silva can speak perfect English and pretends to speak English poorly because he despises American media. Sonnen also says he doesn't buy into Anderson's hype as the 'best fighter in the world'.
I enjoy Chael as a commentator on MMA. His thoughts in Sherdog's Pros Pick articles always are the best--aside from Mac Danzig.
Chael is an excellent wrestler and a great up-and-coming fighter. I actually pick Chael over Marquardt for this Saturday's event. I think Chael will win a split decision after using his wrestling to his advantage.

funny. Just yesterday I asked my buddy who his faves and nonfaves are. He said the following
Favorites: Dan Henderson Fedor GSP
Hated:
Anderson Silva--cocky douchebagg who can speak English but doesn't want to

Calling Chael Sonnen, "up and coming" is kinda pointless, seeing as he's 32 years old. I've come to dislike him from both of the Filho fights, which means not only won't I read his Sherdog columns because Sherdog is the absolute worst MMA related site on the internet, I just don't want to read/hear his thoughts on anything.
I however, don't see how Sonnen's wrestling background is going to give him an advantage, seeing as Marquardt is a terrific wrestler and Sonnen's submission defense is subpar at best. I think his wrestling is going to put him in a position he's not comfortable with, which will end the fight.

I don't know much about Sonnen, can you tell me why he's so hated (other than his mouth) what happened in the Filho fights.

I don't know much about Sonnen, can you tell me why he's so hated (other than his mouth) what happened in the Filho fights. It's not so much "hated" as he's just a baby. He complained for months how he didn't quit, he didn't quit, he didn't quit. (the first fight against Filho) Then, he says the referee call was fair. It's like playing basketball at the Y with your friends, but you have that one friend that can't accept he's just not very good. So everytime you steal the ball from him, he calls a foul. He just reminds me of that guy. Plus in their 2nd fight, Filho was basically lost, on drugs. He did NOTHING in the 3rd round. I literally mean, nothing. Instead of Sonnen just trying to engage and end the fight, he seemed content with winning via decision, so he just circled and threw meaningless jabs, then seemed basically proud of the victory, like it was earned. He just seems a bit full of himself for being nothing more than a mediocre fighter.

I really despise Sonnen...the guy just seems like a douche bag who THINKS he is way better than he actually is..
I can't wait for Marquardt to f***ing wreck Sonnen so Sonnen can perhaps be a bit humble and Marquardt can get his rematch with Anderson.

He has also said some crazy things about Coleman.
"Even though Mark Coleman is a bum, he wins fights. Who’s Mark Coleman’s coach? Who is Mark Coleman’s training partner? What is the name of the gym that he trains at? And don’t tell me the Hammer House. I want to know an actual building, an actual piece of real estate with a sign on it. Where does he train? Everybody has a coach. Tiger Woods has a coach. Michael Jordan had a coach. Mayweather has a coach. Mark Coleman does not have a coach. Everybody has a team. Everybody has a team backing them. Tiger Woods has a team. Kobe has a team. All the greats have a team of any sport. He doesn’t have a team! He’s his own coach, he’s his own team. He doesn’t even have a gym he belongs to. That’s just silly. How you could be in this for this long and be a one man show. On one hand (it) is remarkable. On one hand, maybe I’m looking at it wrong. Maybe I need to compliment him a little bit, but it’s just silly. That’s not what a dedicated guy does."
I think Chael forgets that he trains with Shawn Tompkins (guy who used to train Couture) and fights out of the Tapout Gym in Vegas with guys like Vitor Belfort, Roy Nelson and K-1 veteran Ray Sefo.

Chael Sonnen would get jobbed out by the Spider in under a round, unless Anderson decided to toy with him the way he did Leites.

I've mocked his voice several times. Sounds like mix between Burns from the Simpsons and some funky Samoan language.
