I'm fairly certain a Mattel version of any classic guys would be awesome. A correctly scaled Flair with an accurate body sculpt and entrance attire would rock my socks.

Will I collect it? No.
But that doesn't mean I'm going to say they shouldn't make it because others DO want it.

Mattel needs to release classics for sure and for them i think they will because it allows them to sell into a completely different market.

I agree with you, I'd really rather not see a legends line. I think maybe if they put one legend in the basic line every other wave I'd be cool with something like that, I've been buying Mattel's stuff since I spotted them in stores and I'm trying to get everything except the Flex Force stuff so if they made another lineup it would really be a strain on my wallet but one per every other basic line and elite wouldn't be a bad idea I suppose

as long as they continue the Wrestlemania Heritage line I'll be set. There is plenty of options in that line, would be pretty rad , just thinking of this in mattel form makes me smile

I think they should release a classic line, simply because there is a market for it, but I do think it may take some focus away from the current roster, as that did seem to happen with Jakks. Can't blame them as it does take more time and effort to hunt down the talent and figure out a scanning method and all that.
Try three single and three 2-packs series' a year.
Could look like...
Singles Series One - October Bret Hart Ultimate Warrior Shawn Michaels Eddie Guerrero Ricky Steamboat Mr Perfect Sensational Sherrie Randy Savage Hunter Hearst Helmsley Andre The Giant
Two-Packs 1 - December Legion Of Doom Head Bangers Rockers
Singles 2 - February Bam Bam Bigelow Yokozuna British Bulldog Rey Mysterio Jerry Lawler Razor Ramon Diesel Sunny Trish Stratus Rowdy Roddy Piper
Two Packs 2 - April Hart Foundation Demolition Acolytes
Singles 3 - June Brian Pillman Crush Mr Fuji The Rock Chris Jericho Rob Van Dam Kane Undertaker Iron Sheik Steve Austin
2-Packs 2 - August Hardy Boyz Degeneration X(Shawn & HHH '98) Head Shrinkers
That would get us through a whole year with around 40 different figures. A decent amount that would still allow them to focus a lot on the current stars. Not to mention, I'm sure 90% of Entrance Greats will be Classics.

theres a difference between Jakks and Mattel, Mattel is one of, if not, the largest Toy Manufacturers! money is no issue for them.

i wouldn't buy a classic line - well, there are a few guys i'd totally upgrade - RVD, Andre and/or Flair, but my JAKKS Classics are more than sufficient, and with Jakks getting the TNA licenses, that should fill in any huge holes - and with the NWA line, i can expand as i see fit.
I LOVE what Mattel is doing, and it's revitalized my "passion" for figging. I am going to keep it limited and basically start over, only getting MAIN EVENTERS and Mid-Carders that A) I am a fan of, and b) who's fig is really good, focusing mainly on Elites. If i know there's an elite coming out of a guy i want, i will hold out for it. no upgrading any Mattels. after 10+ years of buying figs, i know what i like, and i know everything that'll be out within the next 6 months, so sorry, Kofi, i'm waiting for your elite.

Personally, I'd love a Classics line from Mattel. The Jakks Classics stuff was the only reason I got back into figure collecting.
The chance to buy some Andre the Giant, Million Dollar Man, Ultimate Warrior figures (among others) that my parents never allowed me to collect when I was young, was reason enough to start collecting.
I love the new guys just as much, but it'd be nice to have the option to pick up some former stars.

I would rather see them put into the heritage line instead of an entire classics line. My wallet can't afford to redo the entire classic line again in Mattel!

I dont think that a full line of classics is needed. If they sprinkle in a few in that will be enough.
We have Stone Cold from the Heritage line. They could continue that. I think that Steamboat will get a figure with Jericho in a 2-pack. The other big names could come in the entrance greats line.
I cant believe how many figures we already have out and they have only officially been in stores for a little over a month.
My shelf is already full.

People seem pretty 50-50 on this.
Given mattels current dedication, i dont see their quality declining by creating a legends line. If it does id rather they just cut out the useless stuff like flexforce and gear. There are quite a few Classics id like to see made which might not be able to pop up through Heritage.

Honestly, Jakks Legends line will be enough for me. I don't think Mattel needs or should bother with a Classic line. If they keep up with the "Wrestlemania" sets...throw in a few random classic guys here and there that'd be better for me.

Well to be honest, those saying they don't want one, are quite ignorant. If you don't want to buy them, you don't have to, it's good business for Mattel and gives collectors of the classic figures a chance to get accurate versions of the classic superstars.

When I started collecting Mattel WWE figures I told myself I would only focus on the "Modern Day" lines.
Thanks to Jakks, I have all the Classic figures I'll ever want...Hogan, Rock, Stone Cold, Bret Hart, and the list goes on...
When Mattel does come out with their Legends line I may pick one or two up here and there; but I'm defiantly not going all out like I did for the Jakks Classics. IMO there's only so many classic guys that you can have. While with current "modern" guys you can always look forward to having a chance keeping them updated.
I personally have always felt that Jakks took more time on their classic superstars than they did their modern. Which isn't a bad thing, but I personally feel like modern day guys should be the main priority and not the classics. I just hope Mattel is the other way around where they focus on modern guys and just have the Legends as secondary.

I cant wait for a classic line. JAKKS quality went down because of JAKKS laziness, not because of the classic figure line. All of the lines suffered when it was announced JAKKS was losing the WWE license to make figures. If it aint one thing, its another. Be happy that we get what we get.
