Rey is known for leg injuries, so maybe Mattel just took the authenticity to far?
Sorry to hear about your luck. I have 25 guys so far and haven't had any issues at all. I agree with the post about buying another and returning the broke one. Try to be careful when you open then next time just in case it would happen again.

The exact same thing happened with my basic 2 Rey. Then later that same night my gf's mom opened her basic 2 Rey only to have the very same leg drop right off just moments after opening it. There have been no more Rey figs to be found here so we both just got our money back. And before anyone asks ,yes my girlfriends mom collects WWE figs along with my gf herself and her younger brother. He has had problems with his elite 2 Batista being loose and unable to stand since opening him. So ,even though I have previously been an advocate of mattels figure lines,I admit there needs to be some addressing quality control with them. DC Classics had suffered a couple similar waves of QC problems, but have improved since. Let's hope the same can be said for these.

I've bought 2 complete Series 1, a complete 2-Pack Series 1, a complete Elite Series 1, most of WM Heritage, most of Series 2, all the Entrance Greats and the HHH Superstar Matchups and have not had a single problem. My love affair with Mattel continues. Sorry to any haters this may disappoint.

These kind of stories should bring some concern to anyone who orders their figures online. It's one thing to drive back to a store and explain the situation. It's another to play email tag with an online site, or eBay seller, and try to iron something out. Hopefully RSC is paying attention to these stories and keeps them in mind as they get orders for the figures.
Anyways, I'm kind of shocked this problem happened with a Basic figure. I've handled a few for custom jobs, and they all seemed pretty well made. I just started a job on an Elite though, and that one wouldn't shock me if they had constant problems with breaking. Something about the leg area has me working cautiously as I handle the figure for mods.

that happened with my series 2 Kozlov....I picked him up and when I opened him (which i usually do in the car just incase) his leg broke right off. I exchanged him and have a great working kozlov now

This is just pathetic. Only time I remember other companies with such shitt quality control would be jakks and thats only because the last several lines were nothing but shit. I have a few mattels and none broke. Although I only have punk fully loose and put the others back in packaging as I don't feel like starting over with mattel like I originally did because the articulation in elite sucks.

Putting this here to make you feel better about Rey's knee problems: I had to deny buying Mark Henry and Jack Swagger the other day because their paint was all F'd up. First time seeing them too.

I have a like 8 Mattels and haven't had a problem with any besides the loose ankles on Elite Taker (with his Big Show boots). Hopefully it never happens because while I am in England I trash the packages right away so I don't have an accumulation of trash in my apartment.

This is the reason I am afraid of buying any more figures online. At least in store I can check the paintjobs on them. Although saying that, I bought WMH Edge from a store and only after opening it did I realise the "Edge" on the right shin was all messed up.

Before anybody says Jakks was better. I've had it happen before from Jakks but not Mattel (yet).

Did you save the receipt? It doesn't matter if it's opened. If you could only take something back before it was opened, no one would ever return anything for being defective.
A lot of people seem to be acting like they've been screwed out of money and got stuck with a bad figure when something like this happens, but you don't have to keep it or call Mattel. Just take it back to the store and exchange it. It doesn't matter if you've opened it, just tell them that you opened it and it fell apart. I'm not sure why people tend to be so hung up on calling Mattel instead of just exchanging the figure.
