My problem with the Mattel Cody isn't the Tri-Force logo (never noticed the lack of it), it's the eye colour.

I think Cody's face scan/sculpt is one that neither Jakks or Mattel got right. Still as a whole I like Mattel's version more than Jakks

Very, VERY nice post. I only hope the people who keep saying Mattel are making 'cartoony' figures will actually open their eyes at the comparison pics and realize just who has less realistic looking figures. My eyes have been opened, thanks in much part to this post. Seeing the figures compared to each other the way they were in the OP really makes the Mattell figures stand out. There are quite a few Mattel figures I want now, but I'm hoping the prices go down a little before I order. I'm just worried some (i.e. Entrance Greats 1, Elite 1) will be sold out by the time I get around to ordering them....

Ladies and gentleman introducing to you, Mattel's new anorexic figures...Ted Dibiase and Chris Jericho. Those are the worst figures I've seen since the TTL era. The Jakks Jericho in that pic blows the other one away. I don't like the face scan on the Jakks Dibiase, so I can't really say anything there.
Those two figures are horrendous. I'll give it to Mattel on the Beth Phoenix figure, it's really good.

The only problem I've had with Mattel is hair. The paint apps lack detail. Some of the faces look a little cartoon, but Jakks did that all the time.
Overall, though, they've been great and this is only the beginning. I can't wait to see later figures... Especially Dolph.

Yeah man, I think my only BIG fuss about Mattel is the way some of the figures hair look. Triple H, HBK, and Taker just to name a few.

Cool idea man!
I don't agree with all of the results however. I think you're a little biased towards Mattel. I would say it's about split from those comparison as to which is better.

If anything, I'd say you were being generous to the Jakks figures in most cases. Some of those figures, such as Dibiase, are downright embarassing compared to the Mattel figures. I've got a ton of Jakks figures, and I can barely stand to look at many of them anymore. The Mattel figures in general are so much better that it's almost ridiculous.

Would you say those rings are better than the old WWF Hardcore playset ring? That was a epic ring.

Thanks for this. I haven't purchased any Mattel figures yet, but eventually they may make a wrestler I actually want. I'll definitely pick it up based on your reviews.

Would you say those rings are better than the old WWF Hardcore playset ring? That was a epic ring. Are you taking about the ring that came with the announce table and a slot where you could put weapons underneath the ring? If you are, then I have no idea...Unfortunately, I was never able to find that playset ring. I'll never forget it being in the Kmart paper and yet I nor my mom could never EVER find it in a Kmart or anywhere for that matter. But, based on all the Jakks rings I've ever bought, mainly the Stunt Action rings, the Mattel rings totally knock them out. The Mats
The Mattel Ring mats are very, very good...nice and durable/springy. I don't think you'd ever have to worry about them bending like how the Jakks Stunt Action ring mats tended to do. The mat itself seems to be just one big spring.
The Posts
The ring posts are nice and thick, so the ropes wont cause the ring posts to bend toward the ring like how Jakks Stunt Action ring's ropes did.
The Ropes
The Ropes are like I already said, the best ropes I've ever seen....very bouncy, never get out stretched...if a figure falls onto them the figure will actually bounce back and not bend the ropes at all.
The Ring Skirts
Another question I've been asked many times is if the Mattel Rings have ring skirts that are actual real skirts? Well I wish they were, heck they even look like real skirts; but they are just stickers. They are really great highly detailed stickers too; their real sticky almost like a bumper sticker. So once you put them on DO NOT take them off because it will actually tear/rip the sticker. I did this with my first Mattel Rings I picked up and ended up returning/swapping them with new rings because I screw'd up the stickers. The plastic area that you put the stickers on are actually wavy/skirt shaped; so it adds to that effect of them looking like real cloth/skirts.
Elite Scale?
The only thing the Mattel rings lack is an area where you could store your weapons. Jakks Real Scale Ring is still better than the Mattel rings, but keep in mind that the Jakks Real Scale Rings were once a $100 product; the Mattel rings are only a $15 product...I would bet money that if Mattel were to make a Real Scale Ring or rather a "Elite Scale Ring...it would defiantly topple Jakks Real Scale Ring.I hope I explained all that well!

Mattell may have the detail.... But I have heard alot of "My Mattel ( ENTER WRESTLERS NAME HERE) arm fell off, or leg fell off" going on. Face it.... You all loved JAKKS when they were the #1 seller, You all made them millions of dollars. And now you bash them? Pretty stupid. And in another 10 years, when some brand like McFarlen is making 100% detailed figs, with 100000 points of articulation for 20 a fig, and 35 a 2-pack, you will say Mattel sucks.

I've personally never had a Mattel figure's arm fall off or anything break on a Mattel figure. The only Jakks figure to ever break on me was a Matt Hardy (arm broke off). I ALWAYS hated how throughout the years Jakks arms seemed to become very stiff. So stiff that you really couldn't move them.

I've picked up 86 Mattel figures so far (Thankfully using many coupons & sales) and only one Elite Taker has had a loose ankle, but he still poses fine. Basic Setup -Elites & other favorites displayed at my ComputerAnd others figures I picked up to fool around with- Head swapps & future customs -

Nice collection PJ!
I noticed you have a lot of Triple H's, at least Mattel made each Triple H different and not just a re-release of the same figure like "some people" would do.
I may pick-up the Royal Rumble Triple H, depending on his hair color lol. But, if Mattel came out with a DX Army attired Triple H / Shawn Michaels I'd defiantly buy it, no matter the hair color.
