I just saw bits of that match on botchamania and couldn't help but wonder, why the hell did shawn over sell so damn much HBK was POed that Vince let Hulk decide the outcome of the match (Hulk had creative control when he came back) and Hulk tried to get HBK to lose to him a 2nd time. HBK did the job but his blatant overselling was his way of expressing his disgust with having to lose to a old, part-time wrestler who could never work in the first place. Some people say it is poetic justice since HBK reportedly refused to job several times during his career but at least he was on top of his game at the time. Hogan was jobbing out people long after his prime. Whatever respect I had for Old Leather Butt (and it wasn't much) was gone after he did this.

Because he is just as much of a whiny bitch as he ever was. A leopard can't change it's spots. I still laugh at all of the people who hate Hogan because he didn't allow HBK to go over. HBK got what he deserved and this match proved it. Lore has it that HBK's attitude had a lot to do with why Hogan pulled out of their second match.

It really made no sense to have a part time wrestler who was about to leave in a month or two come in and beat one of your main event guys cleanly. The second hbk dvd had some very interesting commentary about it. Clearly hbk doens't have a problem putting over young talent...he has been beaten cleanly by shelton, cena, jeff hardy, orton, legacy, kennedy and a host of others. He didn't even complain when he had to lose to another old wrestler who was at least full time-undertaker.

I don't care what the reason was, I loved it. It made what could of been a terrible match enjoyable.

Well, it wouldn't have been terrible in my opinion, but I certainly found his selling to be the highlight of the match... Somehow, perhaps because his opponent was none other than Hogan, it still looked right.

Well I should point out, I find any Hulk Hogan match after 2002-2003 to be terrible. As much as I love HBK, who can carry just about anybody in the ring, I doubt that match would of been memorable without the overselling.

I have heard that he didnt like what Hogan was going to do with the match so he decided to make hogan look like crap and oversell everything. Needless to say, Vince didnt seem mad.

wrong guy went over there. hbk shoulda won. Hogan lost plenty of matches upon his 2002 return to the company - plenty. Hogan definitely should of lost to Randy Orton at the 06' Summerslam though. As far as the bout with HBK - I haven't seen it since the event aired live. I've got it on DVD, and have kind of been saving it. But - does HBK really over sell, like that much - that crazy? I think the decision could have gone to either HBK / Or Hogan. Both are two of the greatest of all time - so it didn't really matter who won, as long as we got to see the match - which we did.

I had heard that Hogan wanted Shawn to turn heel (HBK was against it), which would explain why the heel turn ended the next night. I also believe Hogan faked a knee injury until he got the outcome he was happy with. But maybe the knee injury was in his match with Orton.

the idea was to have 2 matches. the first hogan would go over, then HBK would go over in the second match. So they did the first match at Summerslam 2005, and HBK oversold like a little whiny bitch and hogan won that match. Then hogan decided to HBK and the second match. Hogan honestly did the right thing there. HBK many times in his career never wanted to job. Undertaker had to en threat HBK into jobbing to Austin at Wrestlemania 14. HBK never wanted to job to Bret Hart at WM 13, hence he got his knee surgery then. HBK deserved what he got from Hogan, Hogan was/is a living legend, so poo you HBK.

I enjoyed this match. The flop after the big boot is classic.
