I've always wondered why they made that figure in TTL style. As far as I can recall, Undertaker never had a figure like that in the TTL era so it's not like they were using existing parts for it.

The figure itself was originally planned for a TTL line ("Then And Now" with Triple H and The Rock), but was later scrapped. I guess they already had the molds made around that time and decided to release it that way instead.

It's strange that the 'Taker was released and HHH was not, since they were both planned at the same time and yet HHH's CS1 figure was upgraded to the RA style. Also, Jakks did not have plans for the CS 3-packs version then, so they probably just went with the next best thing at the time and that just happened to be TTL. Andre used an R3 Big Show torso and Bret was a late addition, so I wouldn't put too much thought into the process since I'm sure Jakks wasn't thinking ahead with the CS line.

Same reason Andre was a R3 Big Shw. They didn't have the correct parts in RA form.

I've had this fig for years, but always thought it was slightly over rated. I'm biased though because I'm a 100% RA guy.

Actually wasn't it planned for that Wrestlemania boxed set with Diesel with the white top and WM 12 HBK that never came out ?

It could have been, but the Then And Now prototype (a similar classic TTL 'Taker figure) was shown well before the R3 and RA era had begun.

Because you touch yourself at night. On topic: I never got it, even though I quite liked TTLs...never saw it at retail, mind...

Same reason Andre was a R3 Big Shw. They didn't have the correct parts in RA form. And they must have been too lazy to make them. Maybe it's just me, but I actually enjoyed the R3 Big Show/Andre. Sure it was stupid that he was always in a somewhat crouched position but I thought it had a lot of playability for that time period. Anyhow, Jakks is always lazy when it comes to making new parts. Look how long RA only had like 3 torsos. And the MNM/John Morrison boots covers, look at what Mattel did, simple yet so effective. And the upcoming Sting, his tights design is just painted on and not molded, even Toybiz had Wolfpack Sting's tights design molded on.

Typical lazy jakks. That Taker was probably one of the best TTL figures ever though. Incredibly detailed. With the cape and chest piece mattel would package it as an entrance great and charge $20.

Because it was made by Jakks. ya and that same fig 3-4yrs ago was going $80-150 so yeah!!! and now they can't give it away for 15 dollars on ebay. it was jakks being jakks,, the whole first series was botched, i mean look at HBK's package, out of the other 5 he's the only one with a real picture on the side. sorta seems they threw that set together.
