Hi all, long-time reader, first-time poster. Just wanted to say that I really like these message boards and am back collecting wrestling figures for the first time in years due to mattel's awesomeness. Was a hardcore Hasbro guy back in the day as a kid and got back into wrestling in the past year or so, looks like perfect timing because these mattel figures are awesome. Have got most of the first two basic series so far (along with all the entrance greats and WM figures) with some elites thrown in there as well.
A few quick things:
I love how the basic packaging is almost a throwback of sorts to the old hasbro line, with the wwe logo in the top left corner, the picture of the wrestler on the right and the bubble where it should be. Gives me a pretty good nostalgic feeling while buying them. Anyone else think of that as well?
I bought a few jakks before their license ran out - anyone who thinks jakks is better in proportion or anything is absolutely nuts (no flames please). These are so much better.
One other question - I don't understand the elite torso thing. If it really makes that big of a difference for people playing with the figures, I guess I can understand - but for those of us that display them, it looks like somebody sliced open the figure's torso. So far I've gotten the elites that I like that can cover up that section (Edge, Undertaker, Hardy - jacket, Punk - shirt, etc.) Does anyone else have a problem with the torso thing? I've been eagerly anticipating a legends line but after just finding out that they would be in the elite style I'm pretty disappointed. (For the record, I also thought the Jakks DA ones - from what I saw - suffered from the same problem). For instance, the Orton elite would be a perfect figure but the darn torso thing just drives me nuts. Would rather get his basic one that will be out soon. I doubt I'm the only one that feels this way but would like to know if I'm missing something. Any help is appreciated, it's been a while since I've been back collecting wrestling figures again. Looking forward to talking with you all on this message board!
Mark
