That piper looks fantastic, i like how the clothing all fits nice and tight. The bagpipes just show the level of effort.

I'm not liking this figure either. It looks like they modeled the Piper head off of the WWF Rock N' Wrestling Cartoon!
Steamboat is still the only figure from the Mattel Toy Fair pics that I've been impressed with.

Seriously. I can't believe people are praising this figure of Roddy Piper whom with the exception of the ring attire LOOKS NOTHING LIKE PIPER!! Mattel adds bagpipes and ever body starts a circle-jerk. This insane Mattel love is getting silly. Oh my goodness... I smell a butthurt Jakks mark! |

Actually the scan is near perfect. Definately betterthan either of Jakks short haired Piper scans...and I loved jakks Piper figures

I see no issues with the scan. Not to mention Mattel's figures always seem to look better in person, so I'm excited for Piper.
Like I said before, I pose mine on a shelf, and these bases look off compared to the others. Now with Dibiase I'm okay, because I could just use Junior's. But with Piper I'll be kinda screwed.

I was really hoping Mattel figs would look like crap so I wouldn't feel bad about not buying them. However, I have been really impressed thus far. Looks like my wallet will be taking an unexpected beating this year!

Really other than lack of detail on the hair the scan is perfect. the paint is fairly thick for the proto, so I imagine that will be fixed...
Is the entrance gear one piece? That's a little strange. Looks good either way though. I'll likely get it, even though $20... maybe I'll wait for a legends figure.

I really want that Piper but $22 is to much for me. Maybe I'll get it as a gift or part of a sale but otherwise I will just wait and see how many other Piper figures we get.

I'm sorry I see nothing cartoony about that scan. I see it and all can I see is Piper vs Snuka at MSG when Piper was beating Superfly with his belt. If the figure comes out looking as nice as the proto this will be my all-time favorite wrestling figure...and it'll be hard pressed for anything to beat it. I don't see anything cartoony about it, either. It looks just like him; it's easily the best Piper head sculpt we've ever gotten. |
