Quick question...I know it's hard to defend submissions, but I swear for the life of me, I cannot make ANYONE tap out. I've tried being Frank Mir and still can't out anyone. Help? Press and hold down the R3 to charge your submission. I would turn on the health meter bar as it gives you a slight indication as to when to release it. Other than that I can't help you.

As far as the stats go for CAF, you will get more points by going through Career Mode. But a bunch of friends of mine have just created guys specifically to fight against each other with.
Unfortunatly, there is no way to get more points for CAF mode. Even after beating Career Mode and unlocking everything.

How did you manage to not get a title shot at 9-0 in the UFC? Just curious. i did get a title shot at 9-0 in the UFC, it was my 10th UFC fight and 20th career fight. I got 11 fights (all wins) in before I got a title shot. It was nice fighting a wide variety of guys. In order: Kendall Grove Ricardo Almedeia Dan Miller Yushin Okami Chris Leben Alan Belcher Wilson Gouviea Yoshihiro Akiyama Dan Henderson (legend come out of retirement fight) Wanderlei Silva Demian Maia Nate Quarry (Was set to fight Bisping for the #1 contender spot but Quarry wanted to come out of retirement so I took the fight, and I still ended up with the title shot) Vitor Belfort is the Champion Still haven't fought Anderson Silva, Nate Marquardt, Chael Sonnen, and Michael Bisping but I'm sure they'll all get title shots eventually. I would def. like to fight Dennis Kang & Patrick Cote if I still could as well.

So, I just did about five online matches. Two guys quit once they knew that I had them beaten. One guy quit in the first round when he realized that his takedown spamming wouldn't work on me. I lost the other two by submission because of how lame and impossible the sub system is. These are the only five fights I was able to get into without mention of the, at least, twenty sessions that failed before the fight even started.
Why on earth did they go and screw up online thins year? Last year's was awesome. This one is cluttered, glitchy, and way too menu oriented.

Welcome to the major reason I no longer play this game and will probably be trading it in for EA MMA. The meat and bones of all big sports games nowadays is the online, and UFC 2010's is atrocious. I don't know what the hell went wrong, but at least it was a couple of months before all the douchebags and holes got on UFC 2009. From almost the moment 2010 released, the douchebaggery online has been infinite. The fighting system is just plain broken, every cheap tactic is used by almost everyone. I really, really, REALLY wanted to like this game. I pre-ordered it and paid it IN FULL in JANUARY of this year. I was counting down the days and played the out of the demo. But ever since MFWF folded, this game has been collecting a whole lot of dust.

The only issue I honestly have is that the online is extremely lagging, and the submission system. I've played through Title Defense mode 8 times now, and haven't so much as gotten cut, let alone had my health bar depleted. Yet EVERY ING TIME I get to the last fight, and it's again Werdum, and all he does is counter a punch into a take down or just go for a takedown, and the second we are on the ground he goes for a submission and gets it. There's no struggle, not even enough time to even attempt to defend. By the time I press in to defend or try moving the stick, it's over. I've gone so far as to defend the takedowns, get him bloody, get him in the grey, and even knock him down, but at the last second of every ing fight, even with him completely in the red and my health bar all the way up, he will submit me. Unlike some, I personally find a great deal about this game that I like and still play on a daily basis. That being said, if EA MMA turns out to be very playable and a great alternative, I can't say I'd be so "attached" to this game as to not trade it in.

I love this game, I play it every chance I get. The only thing I hate about this game is the submission system. For me, it's difficult to get out of a submission. Other than that, this game is flawless.

Quick question, I haven't played this game since the last time I went over my cousin, which divisions are the TapouT guys at? I'm sure Mask is at Light Heavyweight, but not sure about the other two.

It's pretty sad that everything beyond the Sub system makes the game really fun to play, but the sole factor that there's a new charge system, and that the computer can use it, and that there's literally no way to defend against it makes me play less and less each week.
Outside of the online achievements, I'll already gotten everything (sort of submission on hard in 60 seconds) so when I just play against the computer, and out of no where they get a submission despite me clearly winning the fight, and I have no way to defend against it regardless of my health bar, it just kind of kills the want I have to play.

the long short of it is that they implemented a change to the submission system, allowing you to charge up power for one strong attempt at a submission, as oppose to spinning the right stick for a "constant" attempt as a submission.
The biggest issue with is that THQ has yet to really explain how it works, so there's little to no way to defend against it, and the computer can use it as well. Basically you fight against a submission specialist, regardless of their health bar or yours, they can tap you out in a second.

I agree Sean. It's really not a bad game at all. I love the sway system, and everything about the game exept for the freaking sub system and the HORRENDOUS online gameplay. It's such a pain to get into a match that means anything, and when you do, you more than likely matched against someone who's going to cheat, or quit once you have him beat. I wish so badly that I was exaggerating, but all of this is the absolute truth.
The broken sub system and online play are the only two things that keep this from being the perfect sequel. Unfortuantely, those two very big, very unavoidable gamebreakers.

Unfortuantely, those two very big, very unavoidable gamebreakers. Exactly how I felt. 50% of my bitterness towards the game is based on how much fun it COULD have been if they had just fixed the sub system and worked like hell to get a stable online that wasn't filled with douchebaggery. I mean, I had some awesome, awesome fights in this game. Loved it to death for quite a while. But after completing all of the main modes, there's not much left other than online. Online is the heart and soul of most major sports games nowadays, that's just how the industry has shifted. And man, I don't think I've ever hated a game's online as much as I hated the online in UFC 2010. I still have hope for this franchise, though. At its core, it's still a great and very intricate game. Hopefully the competition from EA will force THQ to up their game and address all their issues.

Damn, I can't pass the B Division in Title Defense Mode. I've tried three times now and I've always lost by submission to the first guy all the time.

I think the thing that pissed me off the most is that this is an issue that could easily be addressed. If they can patch up things in other games, why the hell couldn't they patch this? Or at the VERY LEAST, just write up how the ing system works. Thats all it would take. Here is how you defend against a charge. Here is how you successfully do a submission using the charge. Here is when not to use the charge. Hell, the ing guide and booklet for the game don't even mention the feature. The only part of the game that mentions any part of it is the tutorial guide, and even that is vague as hell. With the underwhelming sales for the game based on this issue alone, it seriously makes me wonder about THQ for them NOT to address this in some way.

After a few more tries, I passed the B Division in Title Defense Mode, only to lose to submission to Frank Mir before the last guy.
