Hey guys,
Was just wondering if anyone knew an exact list of who WCW bough out of their contracts from the WWF during the Monday Night Wars? There seems to be a lot made out of WCW buying out superstars contracts but the only ones that spring to mind for me are Hall and Nash...

both Hall and Nash had let their contracts expire and Bisch pounced.
he offered them a big increase on what they were getting from Vince.thats what they say on the Outsiders shoot anyway.
Lugers contract had also expired.....but he didnt get big bucks to come over.
Bret Hart was made an offer he "couldnt sanely refuse"in his own words but yeah Brets contract was up too I think when he left.thats what the trouble was over the Championship

He did get Bret a good deal with WCW though by acting like he still wanted Bret so Bischoff would raise the price. At least that's what Bret said in his Wrestling with Shadows Doc.

Waltman was released by WWF to go to WCW
Dibiase's contract expired.
Not sure what happened with Brian Adams
Curt Hennig quit I believe over the WWF costing him his Lloyds of London insurance by appearing to have him ready to wrestle Helmsley, when the plan was always for him not to all along, it was just a ploy for storyline purposes. Lloyds then believed that Hennig was readying a return to full time wrestling and cancelled his policy. Hennig was enraged, so quit.
Rick Rude was working week to week with WWF.
Bulldog & Neidhart bought out their contracts for $150,000 each

What about Heenan and Mean Gene? according to online world of wrestling, WWF asked Heenan to take a 50% pay cut, he declined and jumped ship. as for Mean Gene they just said he was replaced in WWF Joe Fowler so he jumped.

The thing with Heenan too was that the WWF wanted him to live in Connecticut so he could go to Stamford and do the necessary voice overs and commentary, but his daughter was going to be going to college in Georgia where WCW operated out of. It was just less work and more money, even though Heenan prefered the WWF by miles.

I think Rotunda's contract ran out with the WWF and they gave him the option to stay on as a backstage guy, but WCW was willing to give him a spot on the roster so he left.

Outside of Bulldog and Neidhart, I dont believe any were bought out. WWF either released them or their contracts expired. I know Owen wanted out of his contract as well but Vince denied it.

Virgil jumped ship. Probably got an "in" with DiBiase.
