Jim Ross: Welcome to the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa. Tonight we begin with Jerry Brisco at the interview station..
Brisco: Hell Jim. Mr. Bischoff isn't here tonight so I'm filling in. Mr. Bischoff explicitly told me not to do what I'm about to do. He said don't even think about it or my backside is grass. But I figure why not. I'm doing it for the fans. I want to introduce everyone to the CEO of WCW.
Jim Ross: If not for you, we'd never learn the person's identity.
Anderson: Yes, well without further delay, here is the CEO of WCW. Larry Zbyszko.
Jim Ross: Oh my gosh, Larry Zbyszko.
Zbyszko comes out to the interview station
Zbyszko: You know, I've been waiting, just waiting for the week when I could finally appear on Nitro. It only took Bischoff giving himself a vacation for it to happen. I just wanted to come out and introduce myself to everyone, I will be back out later to talk some more.
Jim Ross: Well thank you Mr. CEO. Let's send it up to Gary Micahel Cappetta for the first match.
GMC: Now entering the ring, hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee, Terry Gordy. His opponent from Allentown, Pennsylvania, Adam Steele.
As with last weeks match, Gordy dominated the competition, making easy work of Steele. He used a wide variety of his patetened moves, such as a drop kick, big boot, Samoan drop and a running powerslam. He capped off the moves with a powerbomb to Steele and pinned him for the victory.
Jim Ross: Welcome back, let's get the next match under...
Jesse Ventura walks out and sits next to Jim Ross.
Jesse: Hiya Ross, it's nice to be here. I am your new announcing buddy. Now as you said, let's get the match under way.
GMC: Now entering the ring, weighing 302 pounds from Austin, Texas, Dusty Rhodes. His opponent from Norman, Oklahoma, weighing in at 280 pounds, Dr. Death Steve Williams and he is accompanied by his manager, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan.
Dusty started the match off by giving Williams some elbows to the head, it only knocked him to the corner where Dusty tried running at Williams, but he ducked and Dusty hit the corner. Dusty comes walking out of the corner and Williams picks him up and scoop slams him. He drops an elbow and then picks Dusty up, sending him to the ropes and back body dropping him. He picks him up and puts him over his shoulder, going for a running powerslam, but Dusty gets out of it, pushes Williams to the ropes and he runs into an elbow of Dusty's. Dusty runs at Williams and hits a bulldog. He picks him up and hits him with some lefts and rights and finally another elbow which Williams moves out of the way of. He grabs Dusty's arm and wrenches on it. He then hip tosses Dusty. He picks him up and lifts Dusty over his head in a military press and lets him come crashing down to the mat. He picks up Dusty, puts him between his legs, lifts him up and sits down with a Doctor Bomb. He pins him in the position and gets the three.
Jim Ross: Please help me welcome to the interview station, the CEO of WCW, Larry Zbyszko.
Zbyszko walks out and joins Jim Ross
Zbyszko: I have been talking with some of the wrestlers backstage about the upcoming Triple Threat triple man Team match at our next Pay Per View. You know, I come here, I need to make a good impression on the wrestlers and the people. So what I'm going to do after consulting with some of the wrestlers backstage, I am going to change that match up. There are nine wrestlers left on the roster when you take out the members of the three teams. Well, nine wrestlers divide quite nicely into three teams. So with the remaining nine wrestlers on the roster, they will be divided up into teams and will join the match. So there will be six teams of three men each going for the belts. The first fall will decide the US champion and the last fall will decide the World champ. These three new teams are as follows. Ron Simmons, Lex Luger and Terry Funk. Dusty Rhodes, Big Boss Man and Harley Race. And finally John Bradshaw Layfield, Vince McMahon and Rick Martel. And so the fans aren't only ordering a one match PPV, I am changing it from a PPV to a event on TBS called "Clash of the Champions". Because both belts are on the line, it is a clash of champions. So every wrestler on the roster will be eligible to fight for the US and World title belts. And next week, two weeks before the event, each team will send one man into battle into a tournament. 3 matches next week will be qualifying matches and the week before the PPV, the 3 winners will compete in a triple threat match with the winner having the right to start the "Clash of the Champions" match and choose who starts along with them.
Jim Ross: Well thank you for the announcement Mr. Zbyszko. We will be right back.
Jim Ross: It is now time for the main event.
GMC: In the corner to my left, weighing in at 243 pounds, from Charlotte, North Carolina, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. And his opponent weighing in at 245 pounds, from Kansas City, Missouri, Harley Race.
After trading the advantage back and forth for the first 5 minutes of the match, Harley drop toe holds Flair and begins working on the left leg of Flair as to make sure he cannot lock in the figure four. He grabs the left leg and brings it up into the air and drives it down into the mat. He does it one more time and then grabs it and sits on Flair's back putting him in a half crab. Flair does get the ropes and is allowed to get up where Race then kicks Flair in the knee and trips him making him fall to the ground. Race wraps his legs around Flair's left leg and pulls on it. Flair again gets to the ropes. Race waits for Flair to get up and he runs and hits the high knee smashing it right into Flair's face. Race goes to the top rope, he leaps off for a diving headbutt, but Flair miraculously moves out of the way. Flair hobbles up and grabs Race's head and puts on a headlock. Flair lifts Race up, but his left knee buckles sending both men crashing to the ground. Both men get up and exchange rights. Flair grabs Race and preforms an inverted atomic drop. He runs as best he can and hits a high knee of his own. Flair goes to the top rope and for once is able to actually connect with a move and hits a forearm. This sends Race down and Flair grabs Race's legs and puts on the figure four leg lock. But after a few moments, it is too much for Flair's left leg and he releases the hold. He picks up Race and sends him to the corner. He picks Race up and puts him on the top rope. He then climbs up to the second rope, lifts Race up and suplexs him off the top. Both men laid motionless for about a good 15 seconds before the ref started the 10 count, which Flair got up by 8. He went for the pin, but it took him too long and Race kicked out at 2. Flair walks over to Race's legs and puts him in as sharpshooter, so his left leg doesn't have to do any work. He just lays back on Race and pulls the legs. They are in the middle of the ring and Race can't get to the ropes, so he gives up.
Ric Flair rolls out of the ring, grabs the big gold belt and walks over to the interview station.
Flair: It's been a few weeks since I've been out here to talk. I hear these people running their mouths and I get no chance to respond. I am the champion, I should have a guaranteed 5 to 10 minutes out here every night. First, I want to address Terry Gordy. How about you fight some people your own size or at least somebody that's gonna give you a run for your money. I propose that in next week's tournament, we lock up in a first round match up and I'll show you who can dominate a match. Second, Harley Race, you just gave me a hell of a fight and you better hope I'm not 100 percent for Clash of the Champions or you will see me walk out as champion. Third, I want to respond to Arn Anderson. He thinks that without him, I would have lost? I wouldn't have lost to that old fogey Terry Funk. I would have made him tap with the figure four, WOOO. I don't need no Dr. Death or Arn Anderson or anyone else to help me retain my title. At Clash of the Champions, I will do just that, I will go through every single man on this roster and I will still be World Heavyweight champion. I will walk in the Norfolk Scope champion and I will leave it champion. Nobody on this roster is good enough to fill my shoes or to take my belt. I will retain and will have fought off every man in my way. I won't need help from anybody at Clash of the Champions. I will walk into Nitro the next night as the man who beat every single person on this roster and then I will ask "Who is left?" And the answer will be nobody, because I will have beaten them all. WOOOO. They will have to go out and find somebody to come in to challenge me, because I am that damn good. While I'm at it at the end of the night, I'll take their woman and they'll ride Space Mountain and they will never leave my side again. WOOOO. So this goes out to anybody thinking of calling up Eric Bischoff or Larry Zbyszko and saying they want their shot at the Nature Boy. I will have beaten them all at Clash of the Champions and I will in the end have beaten you. So don't waste your time trying to be all tough. Me and the Horsemen will run you down and nobody is gonna stop us. WOOOOOO.
Of screen, Jim Ross: That will do it for us tonight, good night.
