I'm going to see it with a few friends, in a few weeks, and i just read a little review about it, and it said the film is highly confusing if you haven't read the book So basically for those who have seen it, can you tell me if i have to read the book, plus can you give me a short spoiler free review for it please

No, you don't have to read the book. I didn't read it and I understood it perfectly.
Short review? It was awesome. 'nuff said.

Did not read the book and I understood everything that went down. Fantastic movie, in my opinion.

I don't feel the book is necessary to understand the film, but I am reading the book now simply because I'm assuming it will give me a better understanding of the concept, and because I absolutely loved the story.
The movie is fantastic.

I got a bit lost for about 10-15mins during the first half, but by the end I knew exactly what was happening. I haven't read the book and it's not that hard to understand, but it's not a movie you can drift away for 10mins then come back and think you'll get whats happening.

is that robert dinero in the chair with the big scar on his face no. That's Casey in' Jones! (From the 90's Ninja Turtles live action film, AKA Elias Koteas for those who don't know. He did really look like Bobby D for a second) GO SEE IT NOW.

I highly reccomend seeing it. It's not confusing at all, in fact, I thought the book was more confusing than the movie. I'd definitely go see it. Great movie.

Gotta love movies that separate the slow people from people who can actually watch something, pay attention, and understand it.
Donnie Darko confusing? yeah, maybe. Shutter Island? NO.
