Lil Wayne is overrated. Reason being he is into fame more than the business (hip hop) It isn't Eminem. Lol... People... The only reason Lil Wayne's album became the highest selling is basically because he was the only one making anything in that genre. Dr.Dre/Snoop Dogg & Eminem were all working on albums. Kayne West is just an idiot & the rest are low blows. Soulja Boy was getting boring seeing how everything we heard on the radio when we turned it on was " YOOOOOOOUU " so Lil Wayne got lucky pretty much. Lil Wayne, easily one of the most overrated artist in the Rap/Hip Hop history.

That's funny since i haven't seen ANY rapper do the amount of work in the studio he does.

That's funny since i haven't seen ANY rapper do the amount of work in the studio he does. uh. All he does in rap into a microphone, then party afterwards. Clearly you haven't looked that much into rap in studios. So yeah. Plus if you actually listened to his lyrics, it's pretty much like the rest of the current " new hip hop stars " just the basic Sex/Fame/Money/Cars/Women. Seems they can't go further into it, Take Wayne's song A MILLI.... Yeah, reminds me of some Soulja Boy raps. Eminem/Dre.(dr.dre that is/the original Dre.)/SNoop/Nas/Wu-Tang Clan etc.. the classics. They work their asses off in studios on the beats/lyrics. Eminem probably is the last actual rapper that came around that still brought hip hop up and kept it where it was at. Yeah Wayne sold lots of money etc.. Most of the kids that bought his album don't even know what Hip Hop is, most of them don't even know who Biggie Smalls or Tupac is or have even listened to a song from Ol' Dirty.

My favorite is Eminem but Lil Wayne is pretty good imo. I guess people think they are the two most overated rappers.
I think they are good though. I really can't give a name because I like all of the ones that are big time rappers.

Same for Elvis Presley, but he never wrote any of his songs, just perfected other peoples.

Most overrated is kinda a dumb question but I'd never say Wayne. Dude does so much work in the studio that he can put together a rock album just for shits and giggles. If he weren't a drug-addled mess as of recent he'd be head and shoulders above the rest, but even still it beats trash like Gucci Mane.

I've got to echo some of the sentiments here and say that I find Weezy very over-rated.
As someone who listens to S&C music almost exclusively now, meaning that I basically sample all genres of rap so long as they're S&C'd, I've never liked a single one of Weezy's songs.

Lil' Wayne. His music is just awful and lacks creativity. I have heard more creative rappers on youtube.

All I'm saying is Wayne needs to stop embarrassing himself on the guitar. It's not for him.
I don't listen to his songs but a lot people seem to enjoy it so he has to have at least some credibility.

All I'm saying is Wayne needs to stop embarrassing himself on the guitar. It's not for him. I don't listen to his songs but a lot people seem to enjoy it so he has to have at least some credibility. It's all backlash right now to be honest. The same way Soulja Boy was a platinum artist, then everyone decided that what he was doing wasn't hip hop(honestly, it never was) and started trashing him. I hate to say it, but Wayne has sold out. The Guitar, the stupid hipster clothes, that god awful 80's fedora, his abuse of autotune, and constanly beeing up on the syrup is killing him as a true rapper, but is unfortunately what most mainstream fans want to see. He is to hip hop what Jonh Cena is to wrestling. He's got what it takes to please the harcore fans, but gets by, and gets paid way more to appeal to the masses. Watching Wayne in the studio is like watching an artist at work. He's just so dedicated and places his hands into everything he does. People are calling him overrated because they honestly have no appreciation for what a great lyricist and rapper he actually is. His current music sucks big time, but he is no where near the most overrated of all time. That's rediculous to even imply such, with all of the garbage that has went platinum over the last decade. We're complaining about guys like Weezy when dudes like Soulja Boy are running around with their own labels, breeding guys to be just like them. Just as bad as Wayne can embarass himself on the guitar, he can pick up a mic and slaughter most MCs in the game right now, and it won't even be a contest.
