So I read the other guys post and figured I'd hit up TRU to see what they had since I had a $5 giftcard (from when I got money back from the last TRU mattel sale) too. There were no signs or anything advertising the sale and I price checked a basic and an elite, and both were full price. They had the Elite 2 Batista I needed, so I figured I'd test my luck to see if I could save a few $$s. It rang up as full price and I asked the cashier if they were on sale, we tried to get on the website (both from my phone and the stores computer) to no avail and the hardcopy of the advertisement did not show any WWE stuff. The Online ad for 3/21-3/27 had WWE figures on sale, however the hardcopy did not. The manager continued to look, and they had me waiting for a good 10-15 minutes. Finally, the manager took Batista and rang him up at $7.99, in a fashion that would suggest that she knew what she was doing and not giving me some special discount (even though she gave me almost 50% off). I then used my gift card and was able to score Elite Batista for $3.14 after tax.
I don't really know the terms of the sale still, but I would say that the sale is only on the basic/flex force figures and that they take the markdowns at the register. None the less I would still try and see if they're willing to extend it to other items. I also would recommend bringing in the flyer from online as that was the first thing the cashier asked for when it rang up as full price. I would also try using the flyer at Target, Walmart, etc as all those stores will match a competitors price/deal if you have a physical advertisement.
but ya that was my experience. anyone else try anything else yet?

To bad my TRU is empty. The only Mattel's they have are a few of the WMH set and Tag Team series 2 Miz & Morrison & the Colons.

SkullManiac: Ya I used to do that back in the days of TTL's when target, KB, Walmart, Kmart, and TRU all had separate prices...but now-a-days everything is the same price everywhere give or take a few cents

That is cool. How do you get those $5 off coupons? you gotta sign up for the Rewards Program, then for every $150 you spend within the "promotional period" (which is like 3 months) you get a $5.00 coupon that you usually have to use within 2 weeks. Its one of those things...it's cool for what it is, but it's really a garbage program. If you spent $148 and the period was up you'd get nothing. Every $5.00 coupon I get expires in 2 weeks.

superior for damn sure. Even CVS is better than TRU rewards. Cant really complain about Barnes and Noble either. After spending about $140, I used my account "free" money and got my encyclopedia for like $10. Cant remember exact price. Back on task, I will be hitting up my local trus.

The 25% off sale is a DOORBUSTERS SALE for Friday and Saturday only, and seems to only be good on basic and flexforce figures that are regularly $9.99.The official ad can be seen here: toysrus.shoplocal.com/ToysRus/default.aspx?action=entryflash&You lucked out getting them to give you Elite Batista on sale, as the sale hasn't started yet and even if it had the Elites are not meant to be on sale.

Normally stores that price match (Target and Walmart) do not match gimmick ads, i.e. 25 percent off, or Buy 1 Get 1. It has to state an exact price, and in the email I think it does say $7.49, regularly $9.99. So go for it.

by the way, the ad states ALL Mattel Single figures, which presumably means Flex Force and Elite since they are single figures. They probably MEANT just the basic assortment, but poor wording will get people lots of good deals.

I had a giftcard, not the TRU rewards. I'd never join that stuff.

Thanks for the info on the Reward stuff The Rock. I don't like having store credit cards so that isn't for me.
But great that the official add was posted.
I will try to go shopping tomorrow.

It's not a credit card. It's like Best Buy Reward Zone, or any other place that offers stuff like that. They scan the card and it keeps track of your purchases. Sometimes they offer "Rewards Members Only" shopping nights where you get coupons and such to be used but its usually on a Wednesday from like 5-9PM.
