Im a adults size medium, 40' chest..but jerseys naturally are bigger than average sizes...would i be better with a adults small?

Well hockey jerseys are bigger because when you play you wear elbow pads and shoulder pads underneath. I don't think a tight looking hockey jersey looks good on anyone. I'd go with a medium unless you need it to be snug. I always gets 2XL jerseys, that's my normal size, but I play hockey from time to time as well. Maybe you can accost someone with a jersey and ask them to let you try it on?
