One of my favorite things as a child was when I got a generic wrestling figure. I could make them who ever I wanted, use my imagination to make him the new star. Going into dollar stores or grocery stores or drug stores and finding these guys for half the price of a branded fig was also an easy way to get one bought for me.
The ritual of going into a dollar store and seeing if they have any is something that I still carry out to this day. Unfortunately, though, it seems like they don't exist anymore. No generic wrestlers, no Hogan heads on He-Man bodies. Nothing.
Is this only in my area or is this just the end?

i believe you are right...its such a shame to see them go...the he man bodies with hulk hogan/andre/iron sheik/jimmy snuka/weird man with a knights helmet/guy with a patch on his eye/some guy that has a q tip for a head/heads......i used to love getting them things too..even though most of them ended up melted or wrote on. lol... and those little grey title belts that were with them..those were cool..
