I'm planning a Vegas trip in a few weeks. I'm already going to the Phantom and I"m thinking of taking in another show or two. I'm wondering if Penn and Teller is worth going as I've heard mixed reviews of it. I've seen people who say it's an awesome show and others who say they felt like they paid $40 for a political speech and therefore it was a rip. Has anyone here actually seen them live?

I've never seen them live, but I imagine it would be similar to how they always act. I watch their TV show pretty frequently and there's a lot of political stuff that sneaks in, but I don't care for politics in general so I think it's funny. I would assume that if you've seen them somewhere else (on TV, in a movie) and liked what you saw, you can't go wrong seeing them live. The political stuff is part of their act so if you already like them it shouldn't surprise you. It sounds like the people who gave you a negative review had never seen them before and just did it because they were in Vegas and the name "Penn & Teller" sounded familiar or was in a tour book.

I saw them at the Rio in Vegas a couple of years ago. It was a great show. I don't remember much political commentary at all. They mostly did their usual magic tricks, and comedy routine.
After the show, they were out in the hallway for a good half hour taking pictures and talking with anyone who wanted, and signing autographs. Really cool guys.

I've never seen them in person, but I did make it 4 hours into the bus drive on the Sega CD game.

I saw them in Chicago and I really liked them. I was younger then, so I may have just missed all the political stuff, but I can't remember there being any. Just magic and comedy. Like TRW said, they came out into the lobby and signed autographs and took pictures. I got them to sign my "How to Play in Traffic" book I bought.

I guess it depends on how much you like them, but I was very happy. I'm not going to pay full price to purchase in advance. I've already spent close to $500 on Phantom tickets for myself and my grandparents. If I see P&T it'll probably be by myself. Whether I pay full price or not will depend on if I can get discounts while I'm there. |

the wife and i love them.. seen them live and got to meet them.. totally worth the cash... and every time we have been to vegas we see Ka.. its a cirque de soliel show.. great story, the stage set up is amazing.. and well worth the price.. but we do shell out the cash for that , usually get front row center for it.. also , Penn is my wifes hollywood crush.. loves him to death.. i always say she married me for being the poor mans version.. check it, she is in heaven..  |
