You didn't see it with JAkks that's for sure! But it seems every time Mattel releases a new line, WWE.com is there to cover it. Now the LEGENDS are up! Who would've thought that? So glad the company is behind their figures now FINALLY realizing that they pull in mucho revenue. I haven't seen the likes of this since the LJN days.

I totally agree! Really is awesome. I bet those wrestlers get a kick out of the figures to.
And you where around in the LJN days also? I thought I might be the only one lol:).

I agree it takes me back to seeing the ljns with heenan and monsoon on Primetime and then the late 80s-early 90s Hasbros commercials. I think its great they are supporting the brand.

But what I don't get is why they don't make WWE.com the best place to buy them. They never get them very quick.

My first Wrestling figure ever was Snuka. Had NO idea who he was. This kid Jeremy brought him to school. So fascinated with the Jungle guy...So I offered him a trade for something. I got it and brought it home. I had no idea what wrestling was. Never had watched it. I talk again with Jeremy the next day and he told me what is was about. Went home and watched it the night it came on. First match I ever saw was Randy Savage vs. King Tonga. It was January 1987. The HUGE buildup to Wrestlemania 3. Still my favorite to this day. Watched till 91 then I got interested in girls. Missed the whole Flair first time run. Got back into it in 93. Wow! What changed? Hogan and all the guys I knew were gone. Shawn Micheals was a bad guy....And who was this Diesel guy. Been watching ever since then. Even here in Mexico I catch RAW when it comes on and constantly buy any DVD that comes out here. Sorry for the story. Your question just brought it out of me...

Wait if WWF was behind new mattel figs shouldn't it be on WWF.com and not WWE.com? i couldn't resist. But it's probably because Mattel cares, unlike Jakks.

NOTHING will ever compare to the LJN days! I will never forget walking into my local Kmart and seeing a small endcap with them. I was so excited to get Hulk Hogan! I got him home and just bounced him around for days until I got Piper for him to beat up!

Really, it's WWE's own little way of giving Jakks a big ol' middle finger.

The ring was great too, until my cousin tried to jump over it and landed right in the center of the ring, I was so upset....LOL

For once Bane brings in a fairly nice topic. Please don't start a fight..
But I do have to agree with you, WWE and Mattel are the perfect match. They are supporting each other 100%. It's really cool that a casual visitor to the WWE site will see the new line of figures coming out.. that will help increase sales.

Then the whole Andre thing...Having them fight and re-inacting Wrestlemania 3 was so much fun. Except it kinda sucked seeing as i only had the Long Hair version...

It's not a coincidence that they've started plugging the figures again and they've gone PG friendly. Back in the Attitude area they claimed they were only for a mature demographic when in reality their biggest audience were in fact kids (more kids watched then do now which is kinda ironic). WWE was fully aware that was their main audience, but they weren't gonna announce it to the world by doing an action figure advertising blitz. Another reason you're seeing alot of advertising is because it was part of the contract offer made by Mattel.

It's so obvious for WWE to advertise their figures, because they are THEIR FIGURES! It's no secret, and WWE realizes this and like the additional revenue.

It's their new & exiciting product, of course they're gonna pump the hell out of it. In 3 years it will be business as usual. I don't think we'll be doing any "toy royal rumbles" for 2011.
WWE wants its fans to know they have a new company doing their action figures. There were still commercials for the Jakks stuff...every once and awhile. Mattel is a smart company and they know how to market & advertise. WWE figures to me never seemed to really NEED advertisement. People go to TRUs all the time and all they need to see are the pegs stocked.

No, you aren't the only one. I am also an old codger. I remember that I got the long haired Andre the Giant, took a sharpie, and painted him up in the strap outfit, then had Hogan kick the crap out of him. I remember going to Toys R Us in California once and they had just tons, more than I had ever seen. This was towards the end of the run, but they didn't have the black series. Sometimes I wish I could travel back in time and buy them all to keep MOC.
