I'm not too sure about that. Atleased with Shields, he actually ATTEMPTS to finish people. I honestly believe that Fitch PURPOSELY doesn't even try to finish guys and just plays it safe to go to a decision.

How would Fitch/Shields be boring? 2 great grapplers is much better than bad kickboxing.
Fitch is afraid to lose, so the decisions are a result of that. If he loses he's getting cut, plain and simple. Dana doesn't like him. You can't fault him for that.

I'm just saying it has the POTENTIAL, not that it would be. If both men show up looking to do nothing more than lay and pray, and I honestly think you can fault both men for adopting the L&P style during some of their fights, then it could definitely be a snooze-fest.
Or it could be wildly entertaining. But the potential for epic boredom is there, 'sall I'm saying.

I don't think either of them LNP at all. Fitch's whole game is grinding.
His opponents since GSP have all been very good grapplers.
Gono, Thiago, and Saunders are all very sticky fighters.
Mike Pierce is an amazing wrestler.
Styles make fights.

We'll see. IF and ONLY IF he faces Alves again.

We'll see. IF and ONLY IF he faces Alves again. That fight's cursed. Yes, I do think Alves will beat him this time. Fitch is too gun shy. Hopefully it makes 115.

I think if Dana made it clear to Fitch that a title shot will only happen if he finishes Shields, Fitch will come out swinging and looking to end it. Fitch just has to understand that unless he starts to end fights early he will never be given another title fight. Dan Henderson is tough. Only the Nogueira's and Silva have been able to finish him. Just because Jake couldn't finish Henderson, doesn't mean he isn't a top fighter. True, but many of the punches he threw didn't look like they were thrown with force or intent. If the mount wasn't working I would have liked to see him try something, even if it was just in the last 15 seconds of each round. Trading with Henderson is plain stupid and it was impressive of Shields to out wrestle Henderson. The reality is he is a ground fighter that is being brought in to fight for a title that has been won many times by a few different fighters in long ground and pound wars. I see no downside to this as long as Shields has one fight in the UFC before he gets GSP.

Alves, then they can cut a high priced fighter. I was only saying that a fight between the 2 would be much more exciting to me than bad kickboxing.

And here's another thought, who says he'll come in and fight just at 170? Anderson Silva is sitting at 185 just waiting for a "challenge". Shields could be the first UFC fighter to hold two titles at one time, or be the first man to lose to two UFC champions in the same year.

Not sure. He's a relatively small Middleweight, and an average-sized Welterweight. I think 170 suits him just fine.
Silva is already going against Chael Sonnen on August 7th.

Anderson and Chael are fighting in early August, and then Vitor will get the winner of that. There is nobody else for GSP unless Daley beats Kos, which I don't think he will. I have no desire to see Kos fight GSP again, as I'm sure none of you do.
