This thing was aimed at customizers, that's the target audience, and even though some other people might enjoy it it's the customizers who can really appreciate the work put into each figure. And considering the target audience all knows who he is, his work, and the work of everyone else I'd say that yes, it is a slap in the face to everyone. Having these is nice, and it might even draw more people into the business, but a group of experts that don't place him number 1, or even have Whydraft on the list are ignorant. butt out, buttinski. I'd love for gate, gore, and myself to judge american idol, but people wouldn't respect our opinions because we aren't singers. Well, maybe gate is a singer, but he's not very good |

First of all, congratulations to everyone who participated. But i have to say,to have a moan doesn´t get you to the top. Beyondo,i can´t belive that you are still mad about Deepfreeze,because he copied YOUR Glacier. He wrote it a thousand times,the bodyarmor was not his work... it was mine  But to show you that some of us are good sportsmen,here is a "little gift". I'd personally have placed the Glacier at #1. To me it's just an overall impressive showing of nearly every skill needed to make a custom figure. When you also factor in the little things about it (unreleased wrestler, modded head, intricate handmade accessories that are removable), it is kind of hard to not pick this for #1.
You'd be splitting hairs saying that the Warrior didn't deserve high recognitions, but I personally can't shake the idea that it's just another brilliantly painted Warrior by freeze. Maybe I've just grown neutral to viewing his Warriors after seeing the dozens he's made.

Well there goes the fun in that!
I messed up Beyondo's name. It was my mistake. I admitted it, you know who to be mad at right now because of it if it's killing you that bad. Give me a -1 or whatever it is any of you want to do to feel better and be done with it.
Otherwise, I'll just say straight out, if no one can get along because of this, and anyone is going to complain about the results (which, honestly, really don't mean a whole lot because there were some that didn't even make the list that we wanted on there) then we won't ever do it again, it's that simple! If we do do it again and anybody chooses not to participate, feel free. It was never a requirement and still isn't.
I'm not here to babysit anyone. Go down the street and sit in the pre-school sandbox. I like a lot of you guys but anyone getting ultra-pissed over this, I'm not tolerating any of that crap. Not even a second of it.
This is supposed to be something fun for this section of the community so it's not speaking too soundly for anyone that's totally unfamiliar with it to come into this thread and see a page and a half worth of heat that really has nothing to do with anything. Take your personal issues to PM and get past it.
Just a side note from me, I'm going to triple and quadruple check names next time. I honestly don't know how it happened. Maybe when I was transferring to a word document I lost a letter, it's as simple as that. Could've been anything, but regardless, it won't happen again.
And even though I'm spewing right now, thanks to you guys with the solid (and grown up) things to say. I'm not ignoring you and nothing I said previously is directed at you. I appreciate the real feedback and just want to say thanks for taking the time to watch it and enjoy it.

Seriously...for that last post, Tom...  Anyone who is bitching about this is nothing but a tool. Grow up. This was supposed to be a fun thing for people who actually take customizing seriously. Just because everything isn't 100% perfect in your world don't ruin it for the rest of us. |

You know what is more entertaining than actually seeing custom figs or watching contests? Its watching everyone fight constantly over these contests or anything posted on this forum for that matter. Anywho good job on the vid, I enjoyed it and it looked like you put forth a lot of effort. Congrats to the winner.

Nice video, but should return to the countdown of old, in my opinion. No point in making a video, really, when you're just showing pictures of submissions. The original custom scene and featured countdowns were one of the main reasons for me joining the site.
If nothing else, just make the countdown a poll with various custom choices from the past month (this means monthly), calculate the results and make a feature on the front page. The squabbling is always gonna be in this customizing community, one way or another. Been that way since before RSC was here and not gonna change.

I used to love to log in and see all of the creative work from past participants. I really hope we can keep things under control for the next Countdown. It's really not that big of a deal that Beyondo placed 2nd or that Tom misspelled his name. People misspelled my name numerous times when I joined this forum. When I got tired of it, I changed my name. In life, how many times have people misspelled others names? It happens! Seriously, is any of this really that big of a deal? We run contests where the prize for first place is... NOTHING! Beyondo is respected for his customizing skills and so is DeepFreeze. I can understand Beyondo's argument but... His work got showcased on the main page, the whole thing brought attention to our board, and we all will have plenty of chances to get a "First Place" award. I thank Tom for bringing some much needed attention to this board and I think nothing more of it. Good luck to everyone on future works! Customania IV, Yeah Baby!!! |
