I haven't seen either but Sherlock Holmes looks a million times better than Avatar.

Honestly, I'd skip on BOTH, I didn't find either of them ANYWHERE NEAR as good as they should've been.
BUT, if I had to pick, go with Sherlock Holmes, I enjoyed it more than 5549845 hours of James Cameron blowing himself.

I honestly haven't seen both movies, but from what I heard, they're both good. Well, depends on your taste, if you like a mystery movie or a sci fi fantasy movie it's all up to you.

I'd go with Holmes... I enjoyed both movies a lot, but Avatar has a special edition coming out in November and I would wait for that.
Of course if a doc and other features aren't important to you, than it matters less. But I'm personally more interested in watching making of features than in seeing the movie again.

I would for neither as well but out of the two I only saw Avatar so it got my vote..
It was okay but not good enough to buy unless you buy a ton of dvds.

I enjoyed both of them so I don't think you can go wrong, but I would go with Avatar.

Avatar, seen both, Sherlock Holmes is good but Avatar is right up there with "epic" movie's like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

Oh hell the no you didnt just put Avatar up on the same level with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings....you need your ing head examined, seriously. Oh and OP I'd go with Sherlock Holmes.

I only just finished watching it 30 minutes ago, and like many before, I didn't think it deserved the attention it got. After finally watching it, I've changed my mind an felt moved several times throughout the movie. Don't attack me because we share different opinions.

I found Avatar to be extremely underwhelming.
