this all proves what this World Cup is about for us. this World Cup is a chance for the US to finally get the respect it deserves. You've recently lost to Denmark, Czech Republic and Slovakia. That doesn't signal a team that needs respect.

Of course I will be rooting for my home country of South Korea but I really believe England or Spain will go all the way this World Cup.

We also Beat Spain, Australia, And took Brazil to the limit and those games don't mean much since very few of our starters played, especially against Czech I really wanted to have some respect for the English fans, and up until you, I did. I however no longer have respect for you.

I'd love to see the US give England a good hiding. Shut the feckers up and stop the English from being so arrogant. They've got no humility or respect for other nations at all the way that they carry on. I know that newspapers such as The Sun are based in England but for them to be so one sided and claim that they'll win it is stupid.

Scotland should invade and take over the Newcastle area. I'd bet we'd all happily join you.

way to name england first. Spain Brazil Italy Argentina, and Portugal are all better than England.
Teams dont win on talent, You could have the greatest 13 players on the earth and still loose because they dont play together.
Oh and may I mention that England Got OUTPLAYED by Japan. So saying how good england is after that performance is crazy. Lampard couldnt even put a penalty by their backup goalkeeper

I dont know why everyone from US and England are harping at each other. I would put money that says there is a 95% chance England and US both make it out of their group and then both lose within the first 2 rounds. Love your country all you want, but neither team is taking the cup.
Honestly, I really dont see any country's thrill with beating the United States at soccer. Its a sport that honestly really isnt that popular over here and we've always been playing behind the world. Take any other professional sport (football, basketball, hockey and baseball) and we're competitive in all, including hockey (a "canadian/russian/3rd world european country" sport and baseball "latin american sport". We dominate the Olympics ever year in just about every sport with usually most Gold medals and most medals over all.....I just really dont see the point in being thrilled in beating a country in their 34th ranked (sarcastic) most popular professional sport.

So saying how good england is after that performance is crazy. Lampard couldn't even put a penalty by their backup goalkeeper I never said they weren't better than us? I didn't rank them in order of how likely they are to win, just in order of when they came into my head. I'm English so I thought of England first. Also, you name Portugal and Italy as being better than us but not Holland and Germany, who are both easily better than Italy and Portugal... Yeah obviously you need chemistry, but most teams have that. Talent is a massive factor and chemistry less so because most teams have a similar level of chemistry at the World Cup. The USA have decent chemistry and good workrate and athleticism, but their raw skill is unspectacular. We weren't really outplayed. We were unspectacular but still won, and the ability to win no matter what is crucial in football. Also, England are famed for their sh*t penalties, but one penalty in a friendly is fairly insignificant. We still won 2-1 anyway, reducing the significance further. I don't know why everyone from US and England are harping at each other. Its more to do with the USA making lots of noise about the game, and people want to put them down because of that. No one sees the USA as a threat to win the whole thing, but there are a good 7 or 8 teams that could win it. Any of those could go out in the quarters on wards.

Just as a warning, because I know this will happen, any fighting between US and UK members, will result in beheadings. tut tut, Michael.

Just a reminder for people who are ''rooting'' for England, how many times have you played a team in the Top 10 (of the FIFA World Rankings) and actually won? I can think of playing Brazil & France and you lost the both games. All other games England have played since Capello has taken charge have been against 2nd rate teams. England will not go far in the World Cup imho, infact they will struggle to win their World Cup group.

I have no idea where the media are getting all this "Best chance since '66" garbage from. Fact is, there's many teams better in terms of quality and chemistry in the WC than England and the nation is just buying into the hype. I'm not against England, this is just my opinion. I really, really don't see them going far.

what I can't figure out is why the media is portaying the game against England as the big one? I want to beat them, but as I said, this world cup is about USA soccer finally getting respect, both in the world, and heck, here in america.

did they really though? It was my understanding that the rules were written in cambridge, but the game had been around for a very long time in many parts of the world
