I thought this character was awesome. I really don't know why they pulled the plug on it so soon, we all know Matt always brags about "being better than ever" and getting "reborn" on his twitter page, but when this actually happened, they pulled the plug on it WAY too soon.
He had a couple of awesome matches with Jeff, especially the stretcher one on Smackdown, got moved to Raw and had a cast on his hand which I thought was an awesome add-on that he really could have "his" thing. But then... it all went wrong. He got traded back to Smackdown, turned face again and was once again living in Jeff's shadow and back to plain ol' Matt Hardy.
Anybody agree? Heel Matt Hardy was the most interesting he's been since Lita banged Edge?

I didn't really like the heel run, but I DID however think his ECW stint was unreal. The guy was super over and when he won the ECW title it was sooooo great to finally see. I really loved that time in Matt's career.

I always enjoyed watching Matt Hardy more than Jeff Hardy. He's definitely one of the most underutilized talents in WWE.

Heel turn was awesome. I loved the new look, and he was even getting his cocky persona back towards the end. Now he took 5 steps back and wouldn't be shocked to see him gone anytime soon.
Why can't we just have V1 Matt back? V1 Matt was entertaining as hell and could go so much further in this day and age.

Honestly, heel Matt Hardy + actual wrestling tights = amazing. The guy was doing superb, then they fed him to his brother Jeff in the most embarassing fashion at Backlash, sent him to Raw and his career died.
Sending him back to Smackdown as a face was an excellent move. They had 2 AMAZING opportunities:
1) Have him turn against Jeff again at Summerslam
2) Have him go after Punk in a World Title program
They did neither...

I agree,I wish he can have "The Angelic Diablo" gimmick he used in some promos before he got fired in 2004.

Heel turn should of led to a main event push. Matt is great at being a heel.

Matt has a great mind. But his in ring ability lacks excitement. Dont get me wrong, the guy is REALLY solid and if Jeff wasnt his brother, he might have become bigger. But sadly, everyone still looks at him as Jeff's brother.

I think they just had both brothers back on the same show (stupidly) and Matt still had this great "hatred" for his brother. The wwe didnt want to away from Punks heat so they figured turning him babyface would just be easier. Thus, resulting in me losing all interest in Matt again. |

When his fued with Edge ended, so did most his appeal. IMO ofcourse.

I think Matt plays a better heel because he naturally seems to believe the hype he creates for himself.
