Wrestler: “Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase Promotion: World Wrestling Federation (WWF) Date Started: 3/28/1988 Style of Writing: First person. NOTE: The “diary” will only highlight the days that DiBiase would be working television or large pay per view events. Would kill me to write about every single day on the road. Besides, it wouldn’t be all that great of writing anyway! Enjoy! 11:30pm - 12:15am: After losing to Randy Savage in the main event of our match just fifteen minutes, I didn’t know what kind of state of mind I am in. I sit here in my locker room with Virgil sitting next to me writing this down while my back aches and my spirits are down. I can hear Savage, Hogan, Beefcake and all the guys celebrating for Savage acting as if he has earned the title. The more I hear about it the more I want to puke. To be told personally in December that I would be winning the WWF World Championship at WrestleMania and have that taken away because Randy Savage cried about it, makes me incredibly pissed off. I must now go over to Savage act as if I am happy for him and say it was a pleasure to do business with him. He stole my spot, and that is something I will never forget about. McMahon just lost out on a lot of money with Hogan chasing me for the title. Virgil is telling me to go out and get involved with the boys before they suspect any sort of displeasure on my end. March 29th, 1988: Atlantic City, New Jersey
1:30am - 4:00am: (DiBiase, still battered from the tournament matches ends up drinking heavily with several fellow wrestlers at a local bar in New Jersey.) Noon - 3:00pm: I walk into Vince McMahon’s office at around noon the next day, hung over from a night drinking with Andre and several other guys. McMahon has always been known to think long term and this is one of the several meeting he holds with wrestlers to tell us who we would be working with. I didn’t tell him I was upset about the situation with Savage because I didn’t think that would help the situation at all. Anyway, at around 2:00pm we end up talking and he thanks me for all the hard work I displayed leading into the Mania match with Savage. McMahon told me that I would continue to work with Savage and Hogan for the rest of the year. He told me something I already knew, and that was I would be losing to Savage quite often on the house show market. I would’ve been find with that if Savage had earned the main event spot, but I bit my tongue and went along with it. McMahon revealed his plans for me for the spring months of the year. I was thinking perhaps a rematches with Savage, or some sort of way to continue to work with Hogan. However, instead I was told I would be working with Brutus Beefcake. McMahon told me that the feud would be centered around Beefcake wanting to “destroy your million dollar hair” with his clippers. Talk about a de-push. I better be going over in this feud as I want to work with Savage and Hogan. That angle isn’t over, not by a long shot. April 21st, 1988: New Haven, Connecticut
7:00am: 7:30am: I woke up at seven today. A hour late than usual, but we all sleep in on occasion. For the first time in a few weeks the WWF is back to taping new shows. So, from a television standpoint we haven’t been working a lot. Instead, we do a lot of house shows. As expected, for the past three weeks or so I have been losing to Savage, but not in the main event and not cleanly. I have been continually booked to lose by count-out or I will pay Virgil to go back into the ring finish the match for me, which he loses anyway. I am curious to find out what the taping has lined up for me. The WWF typically tapes a month worth of television in two or three days. So, you know exactly what is going to be going on. 1:00pm - 4:00pm: I entered the Coliseum at around 1pm. As usual the selected jobbers for the television taping made sure to run up to me and shake my hand and say that admired me and all that. I get to the locker room and talk to Dino briefly about Mania and the direction we are both going. Dino tells me that he has been hearing that I may be headlining Summer Slam. I joked to him that Brutus must be getting a huge push because I am suppose to be working with him. Dino tells me to look at the lineup card as things have apparently changed. However, before I could get to the lineup card I was told that I had a meeting set up with McMahon, Savage, and Hogan in his office. 4:30pm - 6:00pm: As I entered the room, Hogan looked to be in a rather good mood about something while Savage seemed to be in his usual mood, completely insane. After we all put each other over McMahon reveals his plans for me going into Summer Slam. What I was told was rather shocking, yet I was very happy. McMahon revealed that Savage was going to be turning heel at the SNME taping tomorrow night, which seemed a little rushed to me, but clearly their was something big going on here. With Savage turning heel this would lineup Hogan to get a title shot and Hogan was going to win the belt at Summer Slam. McMahon proceeded to look at me and told me that at the Royal Rumble in 1989 I could possibly be winning the title from Hogan to get a blow off from our feud. McMahon noted that the angle between Hogan and myself would begin with my match against Brutus Beefcake later tonight. So, it appears that I wouldn’t be having a lengthy angle with Beefcake after all. vs. Ted DiBiase w/Virgil defeated Brutus Beefcake (taped for the May 2nd, 1988 edition of Primetime Wrestling): Beefcake got the early advantage working on DiBiase with right hands in the corner and pulling on his hair continually. DiBiase stopped the momentum of Beefcake with a throat thrust and a swinging neck breaker. DiBiase works on Beefcake’s back with a couple of backbreakers and a drives his knee into the locker back of Beefcake. DiBiase comes off the ropes a few times delivering a fist drop each time. Beefcake blocks a backdrop attempt by clubbing on DiBiase’s back and driving DiBiase down with a pile driver. Beefcake clotheslines DiBiase over the top to the floor and Virgil tries to help DiBiase to his feet. Beefcake grabs DiBiase by the hair and attempts a suplex from the apron back into the ring but Virgil trips Beefcake and DiBiase lands on top with Virgil holding Beefcake’s foot down. DiBiase manages to get the three. After the match, Beefcake tried to get his hands on Virgil but DiBiase attacked the leg of Beefcake. DiBiase and Virgil would beat down Beefcake for several moments until Hulk Hogan came running down making a rare television appearance. Hogan would clean house sending Virgil over the top to the floor and would look to get his hands on DiBiase. DiBiase acted like he was all for going after Hogan but ended up bailing from the ring. DiBiase pointed to his head saying that he will strike when the time is right. 11:00pm - 11:20pm: Got back from the Primetime Wrestling tapings and got some takeout food with Virgil. Even the rich sometimes have to eat cheap! My match with Beefcake wasn’t all that great as I feel that Beefcake and I could have done better. Hopefully the higher ups don’t strike that match against me with this angle going on with Hogan and Savage. Looking forward to see how this angle plays out. Hogan better let it play out and not use his stroke to screw with people. I feel like the WWF is on something here that could be good. To be continued… [/font]

Wow, what a great read. This is possibly the best POV diaries I have ever seen; I can't wait for more. Ted winning the title at the rumble is something I can see Hogan going against.

April 22nd, 1988: Springfield, MA
6:00am - 6:30am: Woke up on time at six and ate a quick breakfast that consisted of toast, eggs and a couple strips of bacon. Never had a body builder type of body so I can get away with eating those types of foods.
8:00am - 10:30am: Did a workout to burn off the above mentioned foods. If I miss a day to workout, who knows what would happen to my body. I’d rather not find out anyway. Besides, when management sees you working out they know that you are taking your profession seriously and want to succeed in it. Ever since in arrived in the WWF I have wanted them to know that I am serious about making a mark in the company. I feel that right now, I am on the cusp of big things that will have people remember me forever.
1:00pm - 2:45pm: Arrived to the Civic Center to continue taping matches for television to be aired a couple of weeks later. This business is all about hyping up the house shows. Thus, some of the better matches take place of the house show crowd and not a televised audience. I sometimes wish that they would be televised as part of me feels that the biggest audience isn’t able to see my best work. Once again, I am told that I have a meeting with McMahon, Hogan and this time Bruce Pritchard. Pritchard was going to be debuting a new character and talk show on the SNME taping tonight. Not sure what is going on, so I will wait for the meeting at 3:30 to find out.
3:30pm - 5:00pm: I sit down with Hogan on my left and Pritchard on my right. Pritchard’s face is very, very red and after closely inspecting I realized it was makeup. McMahon enters his office and plops down in his chair. McMahon told us that in order to get people back into the Hogan/DiBiase feud and to develop Bruce’s talk show as a must see segment, we were going to run a angle on the talk show. McMahon revealed to us that I would cut a promo on the miscarriage of justice at Wrestle Mania and call out Hogan would come out. Eventually, a wrestler, who wasn’t told to us, would come out and attack Hogan revealing that I had paid someone off to injure Hogan. McMahon dropped a bombshell saying that the attack would keep Hogan off television so he could film a movie and that Jim Duggan would come out to make the save along with Beefcake. So, myself and the mystery guy would be working tag matches until Summer Slam where I would face the returning Hogan. Once again, plans seemed to have changed on me. Not that I was at all surprised, but it is getting a bit disappointing. Hogan knew all along about his schedule and couldn’t have at least told me. I leave the meeting knowing that my title run possibly in January, most likely not happening at this rate.
6:00pm - 7:00pm: I get ready for the taping of SNME. I don’t have a match for the show and instead am just doing this big angle with Hogan, Brother Love, Duggan. Beefcake and a new worker apparently. Love will be giving me a signal when the wrestler siding with me makes his appearance. McMahon has been keeping this very top secret like.
8:30pm- 9:15pm: After a little bit of a wait Bruce Pritchard, going by Brother Love made his way out and began to cut his promo. He really got the crowd going and played the heel role very well. After about a ten minute promo, which will be cut for the telecast, I made my way out and got a great heel reception from the Boston crowd. (the following is not written in first person as it is the segment he was apart of).
Ted DiBiase makes his way over to Brother Love and is laughing as he always does. Love heavily puts over DiBiase as the richest man to ever compete in the WWF and if he wanted to he could buy the WWF! After all of Love’s comments, DiBiase laughs as says its all true. Love turned his attention to the “biggest crime in WWF history” when Hulk Hogan screwed DiBiase out of the WWF World Championship by hitting DiBiase with a chair allowing Randy Savage to win the belt. DiBiase is given the microphone and begins to speak.
Ted DiBiase: Everyone in this god forsaken cheap arena knows that what happened at Wrestle Mania IV was a miscarriage of justice. I had Randy Savage beat in the middle of the ring but Hulk Hogan, everyone’s hero, screwed me out of MY championship. You see, the reason why Hogan did what he did is because he knows that he can not beat me for the title. Savage isn’t as gifted of a wrestler as I am and doesn’t have the materials I do to get the job done. It’s not fair that the higher ups in this company are out to get me. If the roles were reversed we all know that Hulk Hogan would have gotten the match restarted and gotten his fair chance to win the belt. But not me, and everyone knows that’s not fair! Thus, I have been thinking of ways to get back at Hulk Hogan. Ways that would only end up with me in prison and considering everyone here in attendance has been to prison, I wouldn’t want to end up like all of you! (laughs). So, what I want, if he has any courage at all is for Hulk Hogan to come out here and face me like a man. Come on Hogan show your true colors!
(After a brief delay, Hulk Hogan makes his way out to the podium but before he can reach Brother Love and Ted DiBiase he is attacked. It is revealed that he has been attacked by a fairly new wrestler, Bam-Bam Bigelow!)
DiBiase drops the microphone and brutally beats down Hogan with Bigelow. Bigelow sends Hogan into the guard railing and drops Hogan throat first across the railing several times. DiBiase ends up locking in the Million Dollar Dream for several moments and Hogan is clearly passed out. Hogan appears to be coughing up some blood and thus the camera pulls away from the scene. Eventually, Brutus Beefcake and Jim Duggan with his 2x4 run Bigelow and DiBiase off from Hogan. Hogan is placed on a stretcher and carried out of the arena.
11:30pm - 12:20am: The taping of the segment went very well, I thought. Love had told me as I walked up to him that it would be Bigelow so I didn’t have to wait for a signal or anything. I like Bigelow and considering his look, him being my henchman to take Hogan out works very well. The pairing of a rich man like myself and a tattooed fellow like himself makes for a interesting partnership. I need Hogan out and Bigelow needs money. It works perfectly. I walked over to Bigelow and we liked the outcome of the segment. Bigelow is happy about perhaps working with the big boys of the company. Bigelow is younger than me, and this could be perhaps WWF’s chance to create a younger heel to put on better matches. This is just going to make me have to work harder, and better to keep my spot. I like Bigelow, but I have a family I need to take of.
12:40am 1:00am: I get a call from talent relations telling me that my house show schedule will be a mixture of facing Savage in World Title rematches, facing Duggan and/or Beefcake in singles matches or teaming with Bigelow to face Duggan and Beefcake. A lot of possibilities is something that I love about this business. After the phone call, it is time to lay down and fall asleep.

The changing of plans is realistic, and I liked how its being played out. Bigelow was an interesting and fresh pick as Dibiase's henchman. Keep this up.

I love how management and Vince keeps switching your plans, Ted. Bob, I hope you eventually give Dibiase the world title reign he never got. The Bam Bam partnership will work out well and I love the realism of Hogan knowing his plans and not telling anyone. This is going swimmingly! I love it man, currently my favorite diary on the board.

April 25th, 1988: New York, NY
6:00am - 6:30am: Every time I wake up and know that tonight I will be competing in Madison Square Garden I get excited. MSG is the biggest market for the WWF and given the opportunity to compete there on a bi-monthly basis its great. Tonight I will be facing Randy Savage to continue to progress that rivalry we have had since Wrestle Mania IV. Virgil came into the room after getting some breakfast in the lobby and told me that I will be facing Savage in a cage tonight. I like cage matches, and having one at MSG with the champion shows that I am a top dog for the WWF. Tonight should be fun.
Noon - 1:15pm: I got a call from Randy Savage and he wanted to talk about our match. Savage always likes to plan out his matches so he knows what is going on and isn’t surprised by anything. As a heel, I don’t like that. I feed off the crowds energy and work from there. With Savage though, I will not be able to change anything if I feel like we are losing the crowd. As I enter Savage’s room he is drinking a beer and watching some sort of western movie on the television. Savage tells me that he wants to keep the cage match simple and not actually use the cage all that much. I didn’t like the sound of that as that would pretty much make the cage match pointless to begin with. Knowing that Savage isn’t going to want to be sent into the cage, I told him that I should be getting thrown into the cage more than he should be anyway. The fans want to see me get my ass kicked and thrown into steel. Savage obviously liked the thought of throwing someone else into a cage several times and said it would work for him. We planned out the rest of the match and I left happy knowing that Savage was on board to make us both look good.
3:00pm - 4:00pm: Arrived to Madison Square Garden and quickly caught up to Bigelow. Bigelow is really excited as he is working with Duggan tonight. Bigelow was told that he will be going over and Bigelow is starting to think that he is a mega superstar. I didn’t want to be rude to Bigelow, but I told him that he needs to calm down and realize that he has been in the WWF for under six months. He isn’t a megastar, he is a midcard talent. Bigelow looked at me stunned and I could tell that he realized I was right. It had to be said or he would be hated in the locker room.
5:00pm - 6:20pm: Pat Patterson walked into my locker room as he had some news for me. Seems like everyday there is news for me. Patterson didn’t know if I already knew but he said the odds are I would be facing Hulk Hogan at Summer Slam. I had a hunch about that possibility and I am okay with that. Anytime you get to work with Hogan means a big payday as he is usually the main event, even if he isn’t the champion. Patterson said that by May I would be finishing up my matches with Savage on the house show market and work with Duggan and Beefcake. I was fine with that as well as the SNME angle will be airing on the 30th since we tape everything days beforehand. I hope that after all of this I can get back to working with Savage and get a title run, even if it’s a short lived title run.
7:30pm - 8:15pm: I was watching the Bigelow vs. Duggan match and I must say Bigelow really can go. For a big guy he can get up off his feet and deliver some impressive moves. Bigelow ended up winning after a top rope head butt and the fans seemed to be buying into him. Which is great for me since I am associated with him now. After the match, I walked over to Duggan and Duggan agreed with me that Bigelow has a bright future. Duggan told me that right before the match though, Bigelow said something to the affect of “time to carry Duggan to the best match of his life”. Looks like the talk I had with Bigelow earlier didn’t help with his horrible attitude.
9:35 - 9:50: Time to go to battle with Randy Savage inside of a steel cage. Hopefully the match comes off well and management sees that I can work with the top level baby faces. MSG is where careers are either made or broken.
vs. Randy Savage defeated Ted DiBiase w/Virgil in a steel cage match to retain the WWF World Championship: DiBiase attacks Savage as he enters the cage and still has his ring jacket on. DiBiase works on Savage’s ribs with several left jabs and uppercuts. DiBiase continues his attack with a swinging neck breaker and several fist drops for a near fall. DiBiase attempts a Russian leg sweep but Savage blocks and sends DiBiase head first into the cage. DiBiase flops around and is in pain. Savage with a running high knee and a couple of scoop slams. DiBiase rolls over to the ropes and is backed up against the cage. Savage charges looking for a high knee but DiBiase side steps and Savage hits his knee on the cage. DiBiase lets out a laugh points to his head. DiBiase works on the knee of Savage with elbow drops and several stomps. DiBiase lifts Savage up and drives him down with a delayed vertical suplex for a near fall. DiBiase continues with a gut wrench suplex and begins to climb the cage. DiBiase gets close to getting out but Savage stops DiBiase and eventually crotches DiBiase on the top rope. Savage goes up top and leaps off hitting DiBiase with a double axe handle. Late in the match, DiBiase and Savage and battling on the top of the cage and Savage rams DiBiase head first into the top of the cage. DiBiase appears to have a cut on his forehead and is sent crashing down to the canvas. Savage looks at the crowd and walks over to the corner. Savage taunts and hits the flying elbow drop! Savage covers DiBiase and picks up the win.
10:30pm - 11:25pm: After showering and getting the cut on my forehead cleaned out I walk into Vince McMahon who was going to talk to Savage. McMahon really enjoyed the cage match and thanked me for risking my body for the match. I told him that I hope I showed him and other management that I can be a asset to the main event scene. McMahon chuckled and told me that he thought I did a good job of showing that. I ended up walking over to Bret Hart and could tell something was on his mind. Hart had apparently been having money issues and his family would be having to sell the famous Hart House. I truly feel bad for the kid and told him that everything will be okay. Bret and I talked for a few minutes and he talked about his desire to be a main event guy and make a good living. I looked him in the eye and told him that one day he will be that. He is just too talented not to be a main event wrestler.
Midnight - 1:30am: I leave MSG around midnight and head to the hotel with Virgil. We talk about various things not wrestling related and have a late dinner. I go to bed knowing that in a couple of days the angle with Hogan will be airing and that the reception it gets will need to be big in order for me to keep my spot.
To be continued…

I must say, that while I am not entirely familiar with this time period, you really have me hooked on this diary. Love the whole first person thing and DiBiase truly did deserve his own World Title reign. It should be interesting to see how the whole thing with Savage plays out and if DiBiase gets his World Title reign, I wouldn't be surprised if you played it out for a long time though. Good work.

another awesome entry man! love the idea of a cage match and savage wanting everything planned out, seems right to me. Bam Bam's ego getting bigger is also realistic and I dig this entire thing man. The bret hart twist was also nicely added.

May 1st, 1988: Los Angeles, CA
6:00am - 6:45am: When I wake up I immediately know that today things will be changing. People hate me because I play a heel on television. But, yesterday Saturday Night Main Event aired and the attack myself and Bigelow did on Hogan was shown. Considering people take wrestling pretty seriously, especially younger people, myself and Bigelow need to be more cautious. We took out their hero and fans are not going be happy. Things will be chucked at our head and god knows what will happen outside of the ring. Virgil and I sneak out of the hotel just incase there are fans in the lobby waiting for wrestlers. There is always a few out of control fans, and without security Virgil and I could be in danger.
11:15am - 2:00pm: Virgil, myself, and Bigelow are eating lunch when Pat Patterson comes running over to us. Patterson tells us that the angle went over very well and that some parents actually called the office because they felt we did too much violent stuff. When I heard that I was kind of shocked. The only thing we did was drop Hogan across the guard railing throat first. That may sound bad, but its not like it hasn’t been done before in matches. I have a feeling that parents may have called because their children were crying because it was Hogan getting beaten down. Patterson praised our work and said that because of the angle myself and Bigelow could be big heels for the WWF. I was really happy to hear that, but I was more curious to see what Vince McMahon thought himself. After all, his opinion is the only one that really matters.
3:25pm - 5:00pm: I’ve been at the Sports Arena for the house show for about forty five minutes when Patterson walks over to me and tells me that McMahon is on the phone and wants to talk to me. Patterson didn’t seem to be jolly about it as he was earlier in the day. I walk over to a separate room where Patterson and the other agents hang out watching the matches. I get on the phone and McMahon seems to be happy about the angle. McMahon believes that we did a good job to get the sympathy Hogan needs for when he gets back and gets his revenge. I asked when will Hogan be back and McMahon told me he would be returning at Summer Slam to face me. I knew that I would be losing to Hogan, and it makes sense. McMahon thanked me for the work I did and asks me if Bret Hart was around. I said he was and I gave the phone back to Patterson. I left the room wondering why he would want to talk to Bret.
6:00pm - 6:40pm: Duggan and I talked about our match for the night. We just went over simple game plan for the match and didn’t plan anything out move for move. I like that style much better than the style that Savage and Hogan prefer where we plan out every detail in the back. Duggan did warn me that he may be a little stiff tonight to make it come across better since most of the people saw the angle last night. We couldn’t afford to make it look bad. I agreed and told him that I would do the same. Duggan got a silly grin on his face and said he was looking forward to it.
vs. Jim Duggan defeated Ted DiBiase w/Virgil via DQ: Duggan had the early advantage with several right hands and knocked DiBiase down with several clotheslines causing DiBiase to bail to the floor. Duggan followed DiBiase and would manage to send DiBiase into Virgil! Back in the ring, DiBiase was able to get the upper hand as Duggan tried to enter the ring but Virgil held his foot. DiBiase is able to plant Duggan with a DDT and gets a near fall. DiBiase with several standing fist drops and taunts the fans as they boo DiBiase heavily. DiBiase follows up with a swinging neck breaker and slows down the match with a sleeper hold. A few minutes later, Duggan is able to send DiBiase into the corner chest first and connects with a atomic drop. DiBiase walks around and is met with a scoop slam. Duggan signals for the running clothesline but Virgil distracts Duggan is able to allow DiBiase to grab a chair from the floor. DiBiase waffles Duggan across the back with the chair and Duggan falls to his knees. DiBiase works over Duggan but Duggan comes back with several stiff right hands and busts DiBiase open from the nose. Duggan attempts the running clothesline but DiBiase bails for the floor. Duggan plays to the crowd to end the match.
10:40pm - 11:25pm: I’m in the trainers the room and I’m diagnosed with a broken nose. Duggan sure can bring it when he wants to. I can’t be mad at the guy as I went along with him going the stiff route. Duggan came into the room laughing and apologized saying “I told ya I wanted to go stiff”. Boy, was he right about that. We agreed that the fans bought into the hatred that we displayed for each other and believe it was a good overall showing. The doctor puts my nose back in place and tells me that I will not be able to compete for about two weeks. Not a big deal, really. We have some television tapings coming up but I am good enough on the microphone to remain on television while not having to wrestle.
11:45pm - 1:00am: Virgil and I leave the arena and there are plenty of fans waiting for the wrestlers to drive out. When they notice it is us, some teenagers throw eggs at our car. They even chased us down the street and Virgil went through a red light because you don’t want to get stuck in that situation. Luckily, their weren’t any cops around and we avoided any sort of trouble. Clearly, the fans have sold into the angle with Hogan. Now its my job to carry it out while Hogan is off making a movie in Hollywood. We arrive at the hotel at about 1am and I quickly crash after taking some pills to ease the pain/soreness of my broken nose.

another solid entry sir. I dig the fact that Patterson was happy about you guys and parents complaining about violence. Nice touch with McMahon asking for Hart, I really wonder what you have planned for that, I know it will be something good. Duggan wanting to work stiff and then breaking Dibiase's nose is hilarious and I knew something would happen. Egging of the car is nuts and I see this really happening. Excellent job, easily the best POV in quite some time.

Enjoyed this entry. Glad the Hogan angle went over well with Vince. I like how you wrote Duggan's character, seems like how he would be in real life. Broken nose sucks, but DiBiase will be getting mic time in the future for sure after his actions against Hogan. Like them getting caught also. Keep up the good work.

Ouch broken nose. Ted losing to Huggan via DQ is good. Wonder what DiBiase should do while with a broken nose.

May 7th, 1988: Boston, MA
1:00pm - 2:10pm: Arriving at Boston Gardens is always a really good feeling. The feeling would be even better if I didn’t have a broken nose, which is causing me to miss wrestling action for a few more days. As Hulk Hogan continues to be out of action filming a new movie, his good friend Brutus Beefcake will be feuding with me. I will admit that I am not the biggest Beefcake fan. He seemingly gets pushes in this business just because he is Hogan’s wingman. However, I have to work with him and get through it so I can wrestle Hogan at Summer Slam in what will surely be a much talked about contest. As I get into the locker room to put on my ring gear to cut a promo on Beefcake later on, Pat Patterson pulls me aside.
2:11pm - 2:25pm: Patterson tells me that there is a possibility that Bam-Bam Bigelow will end up getting my spot against Hulk Hogan at Summer Slam. Patterson says that McMahon needs a young talent to groom for the future and that he sees Bigelow being his next top heel. To say I was shocked and pretty furious over this possible change, I couldn’t show that to Patterson. I simply said “alright, whatever works” and Patterson left relived while I was left fuming.
7:30pm - 8:05pm: Time for me to cut a promo on Beefcake. I need to get some heat for our house show matches as I am under the impression we will not be working SNME or pay per view shows together. Of course, I am hoping that is the situation.
(Mean Gene introduces Ted DiBiase out to cut a promo)
Mean Gene: DiBiase, how can you possibly stand here with a smile on your face after what you and Bam-Bam Bigelow did to Hulk Hogan?
Ted DiBiase: (laughs) Gene, I can stand here proudly and be happy about my actions because unlike everyone else in this world, I hate Hulk Hogan. Hogan should’ve been taken out a long time ago but the timing was never right, Gene. But now, the timing was right and with a big man like Bam-Bam Bigelow by my side, Hogan is out and I am the new man in charge of the WWF!
Gene: That may be the case, but you have to deal with Hogan’s friends Jim Duggan and Brutus Beefcake.
Ted DiBiase: I don’t have to deal with them. They are on borrowed time. No one should think they are safe when it comes to the Million Dollar Man. I have all the money and then some. You will never know who I may have paid off to take them out. I have the upper hand and I have control. That Mean Gene, will never change! (laughs).
(Brutus Beefcake makes his way over to the podium as DiBiase takes off his jacket getting ready for a confrontation)
Beefcake: Listen up, brother! What you did to Hulk Hogan shows that you are a true coward who has to hide behind a tattooed maniac in Bam-Bam Bigelow. Myself and all the Hulkamaniacs are not going to standby and let you proclaim you have taken out our friend and hero. I think you need to learn a listen and I will be the one teaching you that lesson. You took out someone that means a lot to me, so I will take away something that is important to you. YOUR HAIR!
(Beefcake tries to cut off some of DiBiase’s hair but DiBiase is able to duck out of the way. DiBiase spins round and Beefcake punches DiBiase right on the nose. DiBiase stumbles down the podium holding his nose and heading to the back furious over what Beefcake has done.)
8:10pm- 8:25pm: As I head to the back I am furious over the fact that Beefcake punched me on my nose. I wasn’t suppose to have any physical contact. He improvised that spot and should have known better. I can’t afford, for the sake of angles, to be out of in-ring action much longer than I have to be. Beefcake came back acting as if the angle went according to plan. I quickly let him know with a firm voice that what he did was not something I appreciated. Beefcake tried to act like he didn’t know my nose was broken. The guy is a moron considering he saw my nose taped up not a half hour before we went out there to do the damn angle! Beefcake tried to apologize and after a couple of minutes, and after realizing my nose wasn’t further damaged, I let it go. Next time he does something that stupid, it won’t just blow over.
10:00pm - 10:30pm: As I head back to the hotel I noticed Bret Hart was hanging out by the bar, and didn’t appear to be happy. Hart had been apparently told he and Neidhart were going to be winning the tag titles in August but Demolition didn’t want to drop the titles to them, yet. Hart has mentioned that he needs money to provide for his family. He tells me he has been talking to Ric Flair about possibly going to NWA. I cut him off and told him that the WWF is a far superior company than NWA. I assured him that Vince will figure something out for him soon and Hart will be fine financially. Before I left, I told him that if he ever needed anything that I’d be more than happy to help him out. When I left Hart seemed to be in a better mood.
12:00am - 1:15am: Before I went to sleep for the night, I talked to Virgil about the possibility of Bam-Bam Bigelow taking my spot at Summer Slam to wrestle Hogan. He agreed that it would be bad for business if their wasn’t one last pay per view blow off between Hogan and myself. Virgil also told me that Beefcake had been telling people that he was going to punch me in my broken nose because apparently Hogan felt myself and Bigelow were a little too stiff with him on the attack to take him off television. The next time I see Beefcake, things are going to be interesting. That is for sure.

Wow. Brutus punched Ted in the nose and it wasn't supposed to happen. I see one of those real arguments coming into place. Hope the nose heals soon.

I love that Ted personally dislikes Brutus because he gets pushed for the wrong reason. You amazingly capture the idea of creative constantly changing things. The possibility of Bam Bam taking Ted's spot is certainly interesting and the way he handled Patterson's news demonstrates what a professional he truly is. Brutus stiffing Ted was shocking, but once again Ted proved he is a true professional. Bret Hart thinking about joining the NWA is shocking, but I am sure Ted's confident and comforting words will keep him in the WWF. I love that Ted and Virgil are actually very close. Virgil spreading the rumor that Brutus was stiff on Ted because of Hogan is interesting. I can actually picture Ted getting so fed up with the company and leaving for the NWA. Great stuff like always my friend.
