When they die, which artists out there today that still sing/rap will go down as a legend? I think Eminem, R. Kelly both will. When those three die big crapwill go down, especially with R. Kelly, will we find out the truth about the child pornography case? no matter the hate R. Kelly gets now, when he dies it will be a big deal, he has done so much for the R&B genre. And the world will go crazy when Eminem dies surely, possibly bigger than Michael Jackson's. And call me crazy, but I think it won't be long until either Eminem or R. Kelly die. The drugs will have an effect on Eminem, and I just have had that feeling about R. Kelly.

If you honestly think people will care nearly as much about Eminem as they did about MJ, you're out of you're mind. I don't think any of them will go down as legends, I think the shitty music of today will eventually die down and few people will care about these rappers and pop stars, but that's just my opinion.

No artist's (rock, rap, pop or otherwise) death will create such hysteria as Michael Jackson's did. This generation got to witness firsthand how huge the man really was. The man sold 8 million albums last year. I can't see ANYONE doing those kinds of numbers these days.
Unless an artist died by some horrible tragedy, which I hate to even think about, I just can't see it happening.

Nobody is being realistic in this thread except Queen & silent_eyes.
I do think Jay Z is up there though. And Diddy too. Just because they are literally kings of hip hop. And other than those who are already considered legends, I can't see many more being called that for this generation.

Just to add on to my previous statement...
I wanna see a CURRENT artist pull this kind of reaction out of people:

Eminem, U2 and Oasis. IMO Coldplay could if they go for as long as U2.
No one will ever be as big as Jackson or the Beatles. The problem isn't that music is worse, but that its more saturated and impossible for artists to hold that much attention.

How has Prince not been mentioned a bunch? I know in the last few years, he hasn't done much of merit, but from 84 until 97(ish) he was EVERYWHERE, and then with his gigantic Musicology tour, he was placed back into relevance again. Sure, he has alienated many a fan & critic, but his impacts on music and pop culture are undeniable.
