Nice smaller show, good win for Cody continuing his wins from Botb, Sam and Marcus must work well as they've won both times they've teamed up, Kevin/TJ sounds like a great match, Thomas is getting on a roll, Ace winning was a nice suprise and really tops off his recent flush of wins for Chi, good luck and keep this up

...PRESENTS: NWL LIVE! Boston, MA 10/16/10 - 8:00 PMAttendance: 2,996 The low crowd tonight is due to a terrible storm that has hit the Northeast over the past few days. Tornado warnings are in effect, but the National Wrestling League is still looking to provide our fans with some of the best action we have offer. Jimmy Pietrafesa here, and tonight, the Brawlers look to crawl out of the hole they've dug themselves and get back into the playoff race. - Before the event began, it was announced that many workers from each team could NOT make the show due to plane delays and the weather. So, for each fan who showed up tonight, they will receive free tickets to any NWL Boston show for this year and next. The crowd liked this and I applaud them for making the trip. vs. Match #1; Chris Jackal [Chicago Warriors] vs. X Jack [New York Crush]- After 20:08 of action, in an opener than probably wouldn't have gone this long, but did due to the circumstances, the young Chris Jackal continues the great roll he has been on and helps Chicago move up in the standings, after he nailed a Shooting Star Press on Jack. Jack & Jackal did most of the fighting back and fourth during the match, and the crowd seemed to enjoy their style. Decent action and a good way to warm up the intimate crowd tonight. vs. Match #2; Daniel Sinn [Las Vegas Blitz] vs. Duan Sanchez Jr. [Boston Brawlers]- After 15:38 of action, in a less than stellar match up that was pretty unequal in action, Duan Sanchez Jr. continued his success as of late with another win, this time over Sinn after the SGM. Sinn has just really fallen off the cliff lately and there seems to be no way back. On the other hand, Sanchez has found his game and is the only member of his team winning now. Things have reversed since the first few months and Sanchez will have to pull out all stops to have his team make a run. vs. Match #3; Evan Pagano [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. Sam Kineval [Tri-State Evolution]- After 17:59 of action, Evan Pagano shows how he used to wrestle tonight, as he was all business and it seems that Dragon has finally knocked some sense into him. Well, we said this last time and it didn't work, so let's see how things go. Pagano got the win after dropping Kineval with the Calling and scoring the pinfall. The Most Wanted, who now have to keep him up in the majors, need Pagano to continue to work like this if they want to repeat the Series Invitational win. - Intermission - - An announcement was made regarding the main event of the show. Due to the weather being terrible, many superstars couldn't make it to the show because of travel conditions, so we will have an elimination fatal four way match, which is next. Remember, if you attended the show, you can pick up your redemption tickets whenever. vs. vs. vs. Match #4; Cameron Stone [Boston Brawlers] vs. Kenny King [Las Vegas Blitz] vs. Kevin Hart [New York Crush] vs. Kevin Shamrock [Tri-State Evolution]- After 27:54 of action, a major upset was in our elimination main event, as Kenny King last eliminated Kevin Shamrock with the King's Coronation to get the huge win for the Blitz. First to go was Cameron Stone, who tapped out to the Sharpshooter from Hart. Hart was riding his high horse after that and then got a bit too into things and fell apart. That allowed Shamrock to nail the Famine Driver and eliminate him. Finally, after a solid battle between the two, King took home the win in an exciting match, but you could tell the crowd wanted more. - We visit Boston again, hopefully when the weather is better, on the 2nd of November and stop by Hartford on the 20th!

NWL.com - 2010; Edition #72011 OFF-SEASON SCHEDULE RELEASED - Coming off the heels of the Best of the Best, the National Wrestling League is getting prepared for another off-season. This year, things have been changed up a bit and we would like to take this time and explain how things will go so no one is confused. So, let's take a look:
01/02/11 - DRAFT APPLICATIONS BEGIN 01/10/11 - AWARDS CEREMONY [VENUE: TBA] 01/21/11 - WORKER EVALUATIONS 01/31/11 - ANNOUNCEMENT OF CAPTAINS 02/01/11 - ANNOUNCEMENT OF SALARY INCREASES 02/02/11 - FREE AGENT LIST RELEASED 02/20/11 - DRAFT APPLICATIONS END 02/21/11 - DRAFTEES EVALUATIONS 03/01/11 - DRAFT NIGHT #1 [VENUE: TBA] 03/03/11 - DRAFT NIGHT #2 [VENUE: TBA] 03/07/11 - DRAFT SIGNING BEGINS 03/09/11 - ANNOUNCEMENT OF WORKERS LEAVING/ENTERING 03/29/11 - DRAFT SIGNING ENDS 03/30/11 - FREE AGENCY EVALUATIONS 04/01/11 - FREE AGENCY BEGINS 05/01/11 - NEW SCHEDULE RELEASED 05/30/11 - OFF-SEASON ENDS
JASON WILLIAMS: TRULY THE BEST? - This is just a real quick note to add here, as this thought has been tossed around the NWL offices since the beginning of the month. Many believe that this is a fluke and Williams isn't truly the best worker in the NWL today. If not for the Matt Justice interference, these people believe that Devin Curtis would be our Best of the Best 2010 winner and the win may be held under protest. Time will only tell if they will review the matter.
The Demon's CornerClass and Form
Its tough being a captain, it’s even tougher being a captain when your franchise is on a losing streak. You will all know that the Blitz are not doing too hot right now, we’re struggling and I won’t deny that I’m more than a little disappointed. It’s disheartening to be in such a state so close to the playoff’s, but then that’s why class and skill isn’t simply enough.
You see there are two major factors in a sporting league like the NWL – class and form. Class is what every single competitor should have, it’s their natural ability to be great at what they do, it’s something that is earned and worked for, it can’t just be created from thin air, you actually have to love this business if you want to be great at it, but then there’s our second factor – form.
Form is dependent on numerous factors, far too many to go into in this column, but in short it is the current state of the competitor, whether they are on a hot streak or a losing one. If a competitor get’s a bad run of form then it is likely to continue until said competitor does something to counteract it. Right now the Blitz are on a bad run of form, so what can be done about it?
The answer isn’t good, but it’s one that is needed. A close look at the franchise is needed, and decisions made. The weak links have to be found and either strengthened or cut completely and some new blood may need to be injected. I can guarantee that if we don’t manage to make the playoff’s this season then next year, if I’m still blessed enough to be captain of this team, then you’ll be seeing a new vicious streak to our side, and possibly a considerably different Las Vegas Blitz roster.
I’ve never been more passionate about anything other than wrestling, so I’ve taken my team aside over the past week and started training them hands on. Hopefully they’ll have taken on my lessons of being willing to fight instead of wrestle when it’s needed, and not taking any prisoners. You might just be seeing a new Blitz before the end of this season. |
INJURY REPORT - Some real terrible news for the Evolution. Sean Shafer has decided to have ankle surgery as staying off of it didn't seem to do much healing. So, Shafer will be out for the rest of the season and including the playoffs. The surgery requires 3-6 months away from the ring, so Shafer may not even be ready for the start of next year.
MINOR LEAGUE REPORT - Chicago Warriors: Zeke has shined down in the minors, but I don't think you will find a spot for him in the majors until possibly next season or through trade. Collins hasn't been anything special. - Las Vegas Blitz: X Matt has decided to stick with a strict training schedule and so far, it has paid off a tad. Hopefully this new schedule will help him find his way back. - Los Angeles Most Wanted: Chris West & Donnie East looked decent, but need time to adjust. Pagano before the call up wasn't too great. - Boston Brawlers: O'Reily has threatened to leave multiple times now and I don't think we will find him in the majors anytime soon. Ell Junior is a talent and I have a feeling we will be seeing him soon. - New York Crush: Quite frankly, Jin Yamato has destroyed any chance of Matthews had of reaching the majors this season. Possibly a trade to a lower team could be made. - Tri-State Evolution: Stan Shafer took a leave of absence as he just got married, but will be returning soon. Richardson has been bland.
Top 10 Workers:
1. Jason Williams [Chicago Warriors] [Last Time: 2 (+1)] 2. Jin Yamato [New York Crush] [Last Time: 1 (-1)] 3. Marcus Jones [Tri-State Evolution] [Last Time: N/A (/)] 4. Devin Curtis [Los Angeles Most Wanted] [Last Time: 3 (-1)] 5. Chris Jackal [Chicago Warriors] [Last Time: 8 (+3)] 6. LyNN [Los Angeles Most Wanted] [Last Time: 4 (-2)] 7. Bret Thomas [Tri-State Evolution] [Last Time: 6 (-1)] 8. Chris Hammers [New York Crush] [Last Time: 7 (-1)] 9. Jordan Devine [Chicago Warriors] [Last Time: N/A (/)] 10. Trace Demon [Las Vegas Blitz] [Last Time: 5 (-5)]

Wow, strange show with the weather conditions. Cool to see Jackal pick up a big win, allowing Chicago to go undefeated for the night. The offseason looks very interesting and I hope to see Williams prove the doubters wrong in the homestretch of the season. Glad Zeke is doing well, great to know if someone goes down again. Awesome to see three of the four Warriors in the top 10, hopefully Ace can work his way there soon.

...PRESENTS: NWL LIVE! Hartford, CT 10/20/10 - 2:00 PMAttendance: 6,341 Well, thankfully, the nasty weather has subsided and everyone could make it out to Hartford today, as we get closer to the end of the regular season and move forward towards the playoffs! Hello everyone, I'm Jimmy Pietrafesa, and the Evolution are looking to gain some ground on the Crush, since they sit only 6 points out of first place! Let's see what they can do tonight. vs. Match #1; Jason Williams [Chicago Warriors] vs. TJ Perkins [Boston Brawlers]- After 13:12 of action, Jason Williams scores an opening bout victory in his first match since winning the Best of the Best, after Perkins felt the wrath of the Psycho Driver. Williams was red hot out of the gate and the lowly Perkins stood no chance here. Chicago has been on an unbelievable run as of late and it is making everyone wonder if they have a legitimate shot at catching the Most Wanted for the conference. Only time can tell if they will have enough time. vs. Match #2; LyNN & Devin Curtis [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. Kenny King & Petey Williams [Las Vegas Blitz]- After 15:32 of action, the previous thoughts were put to rest after this match, because LyNN & Devin Curtis were off the hook together and ended the match after LyNN drilled Williams with a Spike DDT and a 450 Splash from Curtis shortly followed. The Most Wanted looked absolutely dangerous in this match and the combination of two pissed off awesome workers was just too much for the foreign talents of Williams & King. - Afterward, Devin Curtis broke his silence of late and told the crowd that if hadn't been for his 'teammate', he would be the Best of the Best this year. Instead, Curtis is looking to carry the Most Wanted to the promiseland for the second year in a row. LyNN cheered this statement as the crowd booed. vs. Match #3; Jin Yamato [New York Crush] vs. Bret Thomas [Tri-State Evolution]- After 21:40 of action, two young and talented workers brought the action into the intermission, but when it was all said and done, surprisingly, Bret Thomas walked away the winner after he nailed Yamato with the Hammer's Fall. Yamato was a bit groggy after he took a kick to the back of the head from Thomas and was able to finish the match, but not in usual fashion. The Evolution get this major win to kick off their night and the crowd is hoping there is more to come. - Bret Thomas helped Yamato to his feet and to the back. You could tell that Thomas felt bad as he botched a move and doesn't want to injure someone on purpose. The crowd applauded these actions. - Intermission - - During the intermission, the fans were able to shake hands and meet Kevin Shamrock, who was signing autographs. Shamrock has a match later tonight, but took time out of his life to meet his fans. vs. Match #4; Trace Demon [Las Vegas Blitz] vs. Red Dragon [Los Angeles Most Wanted]- After 17:01 of action, these guys have met a few times before this season and this match was no different. Both men put everything they have left into the match, but Red Dragon walked away victorious after a Red Dragon Driver. Dragon has been better recently and will hopefully catch fire for his team. Demon has been on the other spectrum of things; he started off so hot this season and has faded so fast. The match was still pretty even, but it was Dragon who ultimately got the win. vs. Match #5; Kevin Hart [New York Crush] vs. Jordan Devine [Chicago Warriors]- After 19:54 of action, Devine gave the experience Kevin Hart a run for his money in this match, but the sharpshooter was too much for the young Devine and he submitted in the middle of the ring. Hart looked great in the match and really put Jordan on his toes. Devine was also decent but only a shadow of what Hart looked like in the ring. The crowd wasn't too pleased with this outcome, but they are hoping their team can get the win in our next match. vs. Match #6; Kevin Shamrock & Marcus Jones [Tri-State Evolution] vs. Duan Sanchez Jr. & Cameron Stone [Boston Brawlers]- After 22:10 of action, the crowd sorely disappointed with the outcome of the end of the evening, as Cameron Stone put down Marcus Jones, who has been virtually unbeatable, with the Cam Slam. Sanchez has kicked it into high gear and when he teams with Stone, they really know how to work over opponents. The Evolution duo fell into their trap tonight and didn't really stand a viable chance. Boston needs more wins like this if they even want to think of the playoffs. - We return back to Hartford on October 29th and see our great Chicago fans next, when we visit on October 25th!

Getting closer to the series conference matches and I feel like LA have allready secured a spot, Jason/TJP sounds good wish it was a bit more even, but Jason winning makes sense and keeps Chicago red hot, wow LyNN and Curtis are beasts! sucks that Jin lost as long as he doesn't lose more matches than he wins he should end up in the running for Rookie of the year, did not expect Dragon to win but so happy he did, Hart winning over Jord makes sense despite the Chicago hot run, great big heavyweight main event I can see all four brawling it out big time, good luck and keep this up.

...PRESENTS: NWL LIVE! Chicago, IL 10/25/10 - 7:00 PMAttendance: 6,550 The weather is deathly cold tonight in Chicago, but the action will be as hot as ever, as the National Wrestling League rolls back into the windy city! Hello all, I'm Jimmy Pietrafesa, and tonight, the reeling Warriors are looking to secure and move up on a playoff spot in front of their fans. Let's see what the evening has in store for us! - Before the event began, in cased you missed it on Twitter today, New York & Boston have reached a deal that sends TJ Perkins and a third-round pick in the 2011 draft to New York for AJ Matthews. Matthews has been called up and WILL be in action tonight and Perkins has been sent down for the time being. vs. Match #1; Evan Pagano [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. Daniel Sinn [Las Vegas Blitz]- After 08:12 of action, the opening match was a little less than what the crowd wanted to start the night and the crowd was also disappointed with the match, as Evan Pagano took care of Sinn following The Calling. Pagano has found some consistency finally and it couldn't have come at a better time. He really took it to Sinn, who has been god awful lately. Pagano brings himself back even tonight and is looking to roll from here. vs. Match #2; AJ Matthews [Boston Brawlers] vs. Sam Kineval [Tri-State Evolution]- After 13:43 of action, AJ Matthews FINALLY got to debut in the National Wrestling League and it was a really big one, as he finished Kineval off with the Eastern Execution for his first ever win. Wow, New York was really missing out on what was buried in their minor league system, as Matthews looked a mile better than what the crowd expected. Some unexpected speed and raw power put the youngster over another young worker in Kineval, who didn't look terrible. vs. Match #3; Chris Jackal & Jordan Devine [Chicago Warriors] vs. X Jack & Chris Hammers [New York Crush]- After 18:39 of action, the Warriors continued to roll on with their winning ways in front of their fans tonight, as Chris Jackal pinned Hammers following a Shooting Star Press. Jackal & Devine work so well as a team now and are very dangerous together. Hammers & Jack aren't shabby workers, so for them to be handled easy enough was surprising. Jackal has put himself in the running for rookie of the year with this big run and hopefully he brings the Warriors to the promise land. - Intermission - - The crowd was treated to free vouchers for 10% anything at the merchandise table for the rest of the season, when you show you ticket stub. vs. Match #4; Duan Sanchez Jr. [Boston Brawlers] vs. Kevin Hart [New York Crush]- After 27:43 of action, in both men's best match of the year, Kevin Hart finally made his opponent submit in the center of the ring with the Sharpshooter. Holy moly, something happened to these guys and they put on the match of the season. Sanchez has been great lately, but at his best tonight, but Hart was somehow better. Eventually, after almost a half hour of action, Sanchez was forced to submit and the crowd stood and applauded these guys. They fought their hearts out and it definitely paid off. vs. vs. vs. Match #5; Ace Bennett [Chicago Warriors] vs. LyNN [Los Angeles Most Wanted] vs. Marcus Jones [Tri-State Evolution] vs. Trace Demon [Las Vegas Blitz]- After 26:04 of action, in a fatal four way match where there was only one pinfall or submission, the surprisingly LyNN put all three men in a state of disappointment after he nailed Jones with a Springboard Tornado DDT while Bennett had Demon locked in an armbar. Bennett didn't realize that the pinfall happened before Demon tapped out and LyNN scored the upset out from under his nose. The action was all over the place, but still really well and the crowd was upset with the ending of the night. - We come back to Chicago on November 6th and see our fans in Las Vegas two days from now!

This is looking great so far man. I'm really bummed that I'm losing my internet and won't be able to reply as often as I want to. Looks like Chicago is finally putting together a decent string of matches. Hopefully Ace can pick up the slack he is putting out right now and at least finish the season at .500. Chris Jackal for Rookie of the Year! Jason Williams for Wrestler of the Year! Jordan Devine for the newly created by me One to Watch Award! Ace for Best Sportsman! Haha. Keep it up man.
