I just watched the movie Food Inc. on Netflix, and I'm just amazed at what food manufacturers are putting into our food. It's truly disgusting, I'm so glad I decided to become a vegetarian, but not even vegetables are safe from these corporations. After watching this movie, I've made the decision to only buy from farmer's markets from now on and I want to encourage as many other people to do the same. Here's the official website for Food Inc. if you want more information: takepart.com/foodincAnybody that cares about their health, their freedom, and the environment to watch this movie and take some kind of action. I also just finished watching the movie Killer at Large, another interesting documentary that brings up the fact that our government continues to ignore the obesity crisis in America.

Never seen the movie, but I do love being able to grow my own veggies.
Just wish I had a damn Avocado tree.

I watched it back when it came out. I've already seen a lot of videos like it, so nothing in the movie really shocked me or anything, but it was still very difficult to watch sometimes. I eat only vegetarian as well, and while I don't just shop at farmer's markets, I do have a handful of local grocers and/or organic grocers that I shop at. Besides being better for the environment, it's a hell of a lot better for your body.

i wanna see, but i love meat too much to know If you love meat a lot then it's vitally important that you watch this movie. The amount of garbage that goes into the animals before they're slaughtered is truly disgusting. This movie doesn't want to discourage people from eating meat, but to encourage them to buy meat, as well as produce from farmers markets, because meat that comes from a farmers market is so much better for you. I pretty much already know. But I'm hungry and don't want to just eat leaves everyday. haha, nah but I do watch what I eat, I'm really picky, I break things down to smells, look, and expiration dates. Like I said, you don't have to give up meat just be wary of where it comes from. Buy it from farmer's markets if you want certainty of it being healthy for you. Also, as I mentioned before, it's not just meat that's being contaminated but fruits and veggies as well.

How about I just starve myself or eat my hair and dead skin. Umm... No, just buy organic. Unless you don't care about your health or the environment and have no problem with these corporations tightening their grip on the food industry. If that's the case then eat whatever you want. I just want to inform as many people about this as possible, because I feel that it's crucial to do something about this abomination.

I understand what you mean, we have too much things going on right now that just needs fixed, so many recalls on foods, and just everything. lol.

Because of movies like this and all the other stuff wrong with the food industry (just saying that seems so wrong) ive considered becoming a vegetarian. Then again, yesteday I found out my McDonalds now has the 50 piece nuggets, and proceded to eat 26 of them. Next time, Im not gonna eat in the morning, and get an entire 50 down. Anyway, back on topic, I really would like to be vegetarian, and really have respect for those who are, but I just like hamburgers and stuff too much to stop.

Do have any idea how bad eating that many chicken nuggets is for your health? One is bad enough never mind fifty. I know this food tastes good, but it's incredibly unhealthy. If you truly care about your health, stay as far away from that kind of food as possible. It's not the easiest thing in the world, but it's well worth it in the end.

I had McDonalds for dinner, and it sucked. I use to enjoy it but now it's just getting/looking like fat. The fries are just always greasy, and the food is starting to taste bad, IMO.

When I first gave up fast food, it was hard, I was always tempted to go back and eat it. I haven't eaten that garbage in months and I just feel so much healthier and I now no longer have any desire to eat that kind of food and I will never eat fast food again, I'd rather starve. The longer you stay away from it the easier it will become. If nothing else at least try to cut fast food out of your diet completely.

The only fast food I might try still getting is Subway, and I usually just get a cold cut combo or whatever it is.

Subway wasn't even mentioned in the film, so I assume it's okay to eat or at least healthier to eat, but the other places... BLECH!

I saw a free screening of this my first week of college, and it didn't make me stop doing anything. It seemed like blatant fear mongering to me.

How is informing and alerting the people about what these corporations are doing to our food, fear mongering? What they're doing is very real, and I'd much rather be informed about what's going on than be ignorant and let them get away with this.

I'm guessing, I don't know for sure, that the meat Subway uses is no different than the meat talked about in the movie. I know you're a vegetarian, but I'm just saying. I actually recently got Netflix, so I'll check this out. I like a good documentary.
