Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ThreemendousJuly 16th 2006
--- There’s a crowd of around 350 people here tonight, very good turnout for PWG’s third anniversary. Talk of the night is of course Joey Ryan vs. Colt Cabana and the ladder warfare match. ---
- Joey Styles and Excalibur take their seats at the announce desk for the live DVD commentary before Arrogance make their entrance for the opening match.
1. PWG WORLD TAG TEAM #1 CONTENDERS MATCH) Kings of Wrestling Defeated Arrogance when Chris Hero used the Hangman’s Clutch on Chris Bosh. These two teams have been at each other’s throats for months now and with the next shot at the PWG World Tag Team Championships on the line this one promised to be hotly contested. Both teams came in absolutely buzzing and determined to take victory and both looked more than capable of doing so. The Kings of Wrestling focused their offence on outwrestling Arrogance with their traditional roughneck style but unlike their match with Cape Fear they just couldn’t ground the fast paced Chris Bosh & Scott Lost. Things went back and forth for a solid fifteen minutes before Bosh missed the Maximum Bosh on Chris Hero, allowing the Mack Daddy of the Cravate to hit the Hangman’s Clutch and go for the pinfall, Castangoli stopping Lost from breaking up the fall and giving the Kings of Wrestling the victory and the next shot at the PWG World Tag Team Champions.
2.) Roderick Strong Defeated Bino Gambino with Death by Roderick. You wouldn’t want to be Bino Gambino right now, because he got beat up here and while he looked good doing it that doesn’t change the fact that he’s going to be feeling the pain in the morning. Roderick was looking hotter than ever yet and you have to feel that with this performance he staked his claim to a spot in the Battle of Los Angeles in two months. Gambino had a run of offence towards the end of the match that just got stopped dead by a momentum driven Power-Breaker, before nailing Gambino with the Death by Roderick to take the victory.
- Kid Kash was out next and got on the microphone prior to his bout with Christopher Daniels. Kash did his usual shtick where he insulted Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, calling it a joke of a company, and then started insulting the fans. He said that he isn’t here to save the company, he’s here to kill it, and that begins when he wins the Battle of Los Angeles tournament. Before he can say anything else he’s interrupted by Christopher Daniels who charged the ring, kicking off their match in style.
3.) Kid Kash Defeated Christopher Daniels with the Brain Buster. Ever since his debut in PWG two months ago Kid Kash made it very clear that he considers the company a joke and that he intends to kill it and while he has been successful thus far tonight he came up against his toughest opponent yet. Christopher Daniels is always impressive, but here he seemed especially driven throwing everything at Kid Kash as if more than just the companies pride was on the line (what are we saying? The companies pride is more important than everything). The fans were firmly behind Daniels and Kash might just be the most hated man in PWG right now but that wasn’t enough to stop him here because as much as people love to hate him, it’s hard not to admit that Kid Kash is a terrific worker. He makes everything look like it truly hurts and Daniels’ selling just made this an instant classic. Daniels nearly took victory when he went for the BME, but Kash got his knees up and soon capitalised with the Brain Buster to take victory, much to the dismay of the fans.
4.) Apollo Kahn Defeated Ronin with Kahn Time. In a match where both men were trying to stake their claims to a more permanent spot on the PWG roster it was Apollo Kahn who definitely came out looking more dominant. Ronin has his following amongst the PWG fans and he can definitely go in the ring, but when Kahn goes hard he’s pretty much unstoppable and with the right push behind him could be huge. Kahn through Ronin about with a variety of suplexes and powerbomb variations, including a beastly belly to belly suplex on the outside that sent Ronin flying into the guard rail, before eventually putting him away with Kahn Time, a variation on a Torture Rack Neckbreaker that just looks painful.
- Following the match Excalibur got up from the table as Bryce Remsburg headed towards the ring to take his spot at the announce table, Excalibur set for action later tonight. Excalibur and Kahn met on the bottom of the stage and seemed to exchange a glance as Kahn paused, watching Excalibur head to the back. Just like everybody in the crowd we were left a little confused by this exchange.
5. LADDER WARFARE FOR THE PWG WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS) Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin [c] Defeated Davey Richards & Super Dragon when Alex Shelley retrieved the belts. The rules here were simple – four men, no tagging, the PWG World Tag Team Championships above the ring and ladders everywhere. Since making their debut here in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla the team of Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin have run roughshod over the PWG tag team division, defeating everyone placed in front of them including the men they were faced with tonight. Having set records during their PWG tag title reign Davey Richards & Super Dragon were determined to win the titles back, but that’s easier said than done. This one was fast, furious and just plain brutal at times. Things kicked off with some fast paced back and forth action with both teams vying for control and some teases of the high, suicidal spots that both teams are capable of before the match went to the outside and the ladders came into play. From here things got dangerous as both teams attempted to get to the tag titles hanging above the ring. Ladders weren’t the only weapon involved as tables soon came into play making things even more dangerous. Super Dragon was sent plummeting from the top of the ladder through a table at ringside that took him out of the match and left Richards fighting solo. He soon found a way to settle the score as he brought a steel chair into play and just pummelled on Shelley & Sabin. With everyone else down Richards went up top and was just moments from bringing the belts down when Shelley & Sabin reappeared, Shelley meeting Richards at the top of the ladder and Sabin pulling him down from the same side. Super Dragon reappeared and sent both himself and Sabin to the floor with the Psycho Driver off of the ladder. Shelley and Richards fought it out on top of the ladder but it was Richards that dropped, falling backwards and trapping his leg on the middle rung of the ladder and leaving Shelley to pull down the titles, retaining them for him and Sabin. 2nd Defence.
- As the ring is cleared following the carnage of the ladder warfare match and the two teams were helped backstage to be looked over Frankie Kazarian came out with a microphone. The only man to ever hold the PWG World Championship on two separate occasions began by saying that in under two months PWG heads to Los Angeles for the second Battle of Los Angeles tournament, a tournament that will include the PWG World Champion defending his title in every match he is involved in. Kazarian says that he doesn’t care about the directors, because he is putting himself in the Battle of Los Angeles tournament and he is walking out as the first man to hold the title three times! Good reaction for Kazarian here, could be a favourite in the tournament.
6.) Frankie Kazarian & Los Luchas Defeated Excalibur & The Ballard Brothers when Kazarian hit Back to the Future on Excalibur. This one was an interesting contest because everyone here had something they wanted to prove. Both Kazarian and Excalibur were looking to show that they deserve a spot in the Battle of Los Angeles tournament and Los Luchas and The Ballard Brothers are looking to propel themselves up the tag team division especially now that Davey Richards & Super Dragon are likely out of the picture following ladder warfare. All six men got their time to showcase their skills but in the end it was a double suicide dive to the outside by Los Luchas that got people talking as it took out the Ballard Brothers. Moments later Kazarian hit Back to the Future on Excalibur to take victory.
7.) Kevin Steen Defeated Jack Evans with the Package Piledriver. After getting involved in the on-going feud between Joey Ryan and Colt Cabana it was only a matter of time that these two men came to blows one on one and what better place to do it than at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s biggest event in some time. These two have quite contrasting styles but the thing they have in common are the fast, high octane pace of their matches and that was certainly demonstrated during this match because there was barely a second where something wasn’t going on. Evans is far more than a high flying spot monkey and never fails to get a few gasps no matter how he is performing and Kevin Steen just throws himself about the ring hitting about as hard a brick wall, the guy gets momentum behind him and just takes you off of your feet and that isn’t bringing in his surprising agility or technical game. The match went back and forth for a good solid fifteen to twenty minutes before Jack Evans missed with the 630 Senton and Steen capitalised, blasting Evans with the Package Piledriver to take victory.
- Before the main event Joey Styles entered the ring and reminded us of the big stipulation for this match. If Colt Cabana wins he will become the new Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion but if Joey Ryan wins then Colt Cabana will be forced to leave PWG.
8. PWG WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP & COLT CABANA ‘S CONTRACT ON THE LINE) Joey Ryan [c] Defeated Colt Cabana with the Mustache Ride. The atmosphere going into this match was absolutely electric and you could tell that everybody knew that the stakes were high for this one. From the minute the bell rung pretty much all 350 people were rooting for Colt Cabana and were not quiet about it, hurling verbal abuse Joey Ryan’s way every time he got in any kind of offence. Ryan of course took this in his stride and showed why he is one of, if not the, best heel in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla right now. Things started off in the usual manner with Cabana pulling off some of his more comedic spots while Ryan got frustrated but when the World Champion nearly connected with the Mustache Ride out of nowhere Cabana seemed to realize that his career in PWG was on the line and got serious, well, serious for Cabana anyway. From there the match became a lot more hard hitting and back and forth as both men attempted to put the other away early. Things sprawled to the outside where Ryan began a merciless assault on Cabana’s shoulder including a running knee into it straight against the guardrail. Despite the injury Cabana continued to fight back and even fought out of the ‘Nuff Said, both men scrambling to their feet and out of nowhere Colt connected with the Colt .45! Cabana wentfor the cover and everybody thought that was it, that Cabana had won the PWG World Championship… but no, Ryan kicked out at the last second. Cabana attempted to connect with the move again only for Ryan to counter and once again lock in the ‘Nuff Said. Cabana was in the hold for what seemed like forever but held on, reaching the ropes. Despite having survived the hold Cabana had nothing left, and soon fell victim to the Mustache Ride to get the pinfall. Fourteenth Defence.
- As the bell signalled the end of the match the crowd erupted into boos as Joey Ryan was handed the PWG World Championship, having successfully driven Colt Cabana out of Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. Ryan made a hasty exit as the fans began throwing garbage at him while Colt was helped onto his feet, unable to believe that he couldn’t get the job done tonight and that it has cost him his job. Chants of ‘thank you Cabana’ burst out from the crowd as Cabana nodded his head, thanking them for a wild ride.

Threemendous and From Parts Well Known were both great show. The Cabana-Ryan match was very well written. Like that you using Ricky Reyes. Also like the MCMG-Richards & Super Dragon feud. Nice KOW push Like this diary very much.

A Goodbye to Colt CabanaAt Pro Wrestling Guerrilla’s third year anniversary, appropriately titled Threemendous, Colt Cabana put his PWG contract on the line in order to get a shot at the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion Joey Ryan. In a close back and forth contest it was Joey Ryan who emerged as champion, leaving Colt Cabana without a PWG contract and therefore out a job here. It is with our great reluctance that we must adhere to the rules that both competitors agreed to prior to the contest and announce that Colt Cabana will not be returning to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. We thank Cabana for all the work that he put in to give our fans the best possible show every time he stepped foot in the ring and wish him all the best in his future career. Battle of Los Angeles Competitor Announcement Part 2Apollo KahnAs with last year’s Battle of Los Angeles tournament this year will provide a launch pad for young talent who are just looking to prove themselves worthy of holding the PWG World Championship. One such man is Apollo Kahn. Coming off an impressive victory over Ronin the PWG Board of Directors have decided that Kahn deserves a spot in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament, leaving this young star only four wins away from leaving as PWG World Champion. Arrogance Chris Bosh & Scott LostThey may have come out of Threemendous with a loss to the Kings of Wrestling but be assured that there is no doubting Arrogance’s achievements here in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. As former PWG Tag Team Champions these two men will be flying solo in the hopes of landing their first taste of the PWG World Championship. And don’t forget that Chris Bosh won the inaugural tournament last year, making him an obvious frontrunner to do the double. 2005: Winner (Chris Bosh), First Round (Scott Lost) Jack EvansHaving recently interjected himself in the feud between Joey Ryan and the now departed Colt Cabana Jack Evans has proven that he belongs with the PWG elite. The next step of course is to become the PWG World Champion, and with that being the prize that the winner of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament will walk away with it seemed like Evans was an obvious edition to the festivities, bringing his high risk, high octane style to Los Angeles. 2005: First Round Roderick StrongComing off of a dominant victory over Bino Gambino at our third anniversary show Roderick Strong is a firm favourite to do well in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament. Known for being more than capable of beating just about anybody he sets his mind to Strong will walk into Los Angeles with only one thing on his mind – walking out as the PWG World Champion. T.J. WilsonIf there’s only one fact you need to know about T.J. Wilson to know that he is the final graduate of the Hart Dungeon. Yes, trained by the likes of Bret Hart and Davey Boy Smith there is no way you can look beyond Wilson even though he is often the smaller dog in a fight. Making a special appearance at the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Wilson has stated that he intends to follow in spirit of the Hart Dungeon by becoming a world champion – the PWG World Champion to be exact.

First time replying to this so bare with me as I might be off track with everything happening so consider this my starting point. The Kings of Wrestling winning #1 contendership is a good thing and their eventual encounter with Shelley and Sabin will be nothing short of amazing. Not at all surprised to see Strong pick up a win over Bino Gambino. Kash/Daniels sounded like a solid match and Kash getting the victory was not what I expected - not that it's a bad thing. I'm not familiar with Kahn or Ronin but it sounded like a decent match. Shelley/Sabin vs. Richards/Dragon was a phenomenal bout. The Psycho Driver off the ladder was an insane spot, and the ending with Richards getting his leg caught in the ladder was unique. Really glad to see Sabin/Shelley retain and their match with the Kings of Wrestling is really exciting me. Kazarian getting the win for his team was cool, I'm a big fan of him. Steen/Evans is a stellar bout and I could picture the ending to it in my head. Can see Steen perhaps moving on to challenge the World Champion now. Love Joey Ryan as the World Champion and the main event really looked like a tremendous match. I'm quite shocked to see Cabana be done with the company, however, I'm glad that Joey's reign didn't come to an end and that he went over Colt cleanly. Would be interesting to see Colt return eventually under his Matt Classic gimmick haha! The competitors announced in part 2 of the Battle of Los Angeles are all very decent - especially T.J. Wilson! Really hope Wilson gets a huge push.

Battle of Los Angeles Competitor Announcement Part 3Bryan DanielsonThe darling of the independent scene, Bryan Danielson is constantly one of the top contenders in the best wrestler in the world argument. Bryan Danielson has been a contender all over the world, wrestling in Japan, Canada and Europe but one thing he hasn’t done is one championship gold in PWG. He’ll get that chance in Reseda as he enters Battle of Los Angeles having fallen at the semi-finals last year. He’ll be looking to do two better and walk out of Los Angeles as the PWG World Champion. 2005: Semi-finals Davey RichardsA former PWG Tag Team Champion, Davey Richards has earned his place in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla through blood, sweat and hard hitting forearms. Now running solo Richards will be looking to prove that he has what it takes to run without Super Dragon and I don’t think anybody is doubting his ability to do exactly that. Can he bounce back from losing the PWG tag titles by becoming the PWG World Championship? 2005: First Round Giant BernardThere’s only one way to describe a man like Giant Bernard, and that is terrifying. The New Japan Pro-Wrestling representative has made a huge impact since debuting in Japan early last year, and will now be making his Pro Wrestling Guerrilla debut in the biggest fashion possible. Will Bernard return to Japan as the PWG World Champion? For the entire roster’s sake, we hope not. HomicideA thirteen year veteran of professional wrestling, the Notorious 187 is one of the roughest, toughest, never say die men in the business, and he’s got history here in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. One half of the inaugural PWG World Tag Team Champions Homicide knows what it takes to be successful, yet he has never managed to win the big one. He’ll be looking to change that in Los Angeles and there’s one thing we can promise. Ace Crusher’s, Ace Crusher’s everywhere. Kevin SteenKevin Steen is pissed off. Having showed his support for Colt Cabana in recent months Steen had to watch as Joey Ryan sent his friend packing from the company. So what better way to get revenge than to enter the Battle of Los Angeles tournament and take Joey Ryan’s PWG World Championship away from him? Having seen what he’s done to guys like Jack Evans and Excalibur in recent months, we certainly wouldn’t want to be Joey Ryan right now. 2005: Second Round TJ PerkinsTJ Perkins will celebrate his twenty second birthday on night two of the Battle of Los Angeles, but don’t let that fool you. With six years of experience under his belt TJP may be young, but he’s proven himself time and time again. While he’ll definitely be considered the dark horse of the tournament that won’t bother Perkins at all because the moment you underestimate him, he’ll crush your skull and walk away laughing.

Battle of Los Angeles Competitors Part 4CIMARepresenting Dragon Gate and the Blood Generation stable, CIMA is no stranger to international competition. Having toured throughout the United States this year, including a five star match in Ring of Honor as part of Blood Generation. CIMA is one of Japan’s hottest stars and knows full well what it takes to be victorious, but in the Battle of Los Angeles CIMA finds himself treading new territory, and it will take a big effort from the Dragon Gate star if he wants to walk away as the winner of Battle of Los Angeles and just as importantly, the PWG World Champion. El GenericoFan favourite El Generico was eliminated in the first round of the 2005 Battle of Los Angeles to eventual winner Chris Bosh, and he will certainly be looking to improve upon that second time round. As both a singles wrestler and as part of Cape Fear El Generico has proven himself not only beloved by the fans but also as a highly competent and effective wrestler, his unorthodox style and personality having lead him to become a former PWG World Tag Team Champion. One thing’s for certain, you better watch out or you’ll fall victim to the Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! 2005: First Round Kings of Wrestling Chris Hero & Claudio CastagnoliThe Kings of Wrestling are one of the most dangerous tag teams on the independent scene today. From the clinical European style wrestling employed by Claudio Castagnoli to the rough and tumble smash mouth offence of Chris Hero, these two men have already claimed the spot of number one contenders. But now a much bigger prize presents itself to them – the Battle of Los Angeles tournament and the opportunity to become the PWG World Championship. These two men may be specialists in tag team wrestling, but they’re just as dangerous on their own and will be a force to be reckoned with in Reseda. Matt ClassicWhen Colt Cabana loses his Pro Wrestling Guerrilla contract and then asks you for one final favour, well you better know that we’ll do what we can. Colt Cabana’s final request was for his close friend to have a spot in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles. Apparently he’s a really good wrestler, but we’ll just take Colt’s word for that. Could he be a dark horse? Doubtful, but what the hell, we love an underdog. Samoa JoeYou won’t find many people more dominant, more clinical or more downright mean than Samoa Joe. The Samoan is a known entity around the independent scene for his stiff strikes, sound technical ability and his pure knowledge of how to choke a man out. His last appearance in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla was back in May when he defeated TJ Perkins, and he’s just been itching to get back to Reseda and show why he is the Samoan submission machine. Possibly one of the clear favourites in this year’s tournament, it’ll take a real competitor to put down Samoa Joe.

PWG Battle of Los Angeles 2006 Night One 1st SeptemberNight one of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament begins here tonight with the first half of round one. Round one will see twenty four participants compete in twelve singles contests across two nights with the winners moving on to night three, where the second round (six more singles contents), semi-finals (two triple threat matches) and the grand finale (a one on one contest) will take place. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round Match for the PWG World Championship Joey Ryan [c] vs. AJ StylesJoey Ryan is on a roll. Not only is he the most successful PWG World Champion in the company’s history but he has personally vanquished Colt Cabana from Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. But now he has the toughest challenge of his title run in front of him. If he wants to leave the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles with the title then he has to win it all, go through all three rounds because if every match that the world champion takes part in, the title will be on the line! And hey, if you’re going to climb a mountain you may as well start with the toughest bit, and that would be AJ Styles. AJ is one of the most unpredictable, spectacular participants in the entire tournament and will be more than ready to challenge and, possibly, walk out of the very first night as the brand new PWG World Champion. PWG World Tag Team Championship Match Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin [c] vs. Kings of WrestlingSince they began teaming up back in May Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin have been unstoppable, tearing through the competition at an alarming pace. Within one month they captured the PWG World Tag Team Championships and have since defended against former champions Davey Richards & Super Dragon in Ladder Warfare. Now they must face off with one tag team they have yet to defeat, the Kings of Wrestling. Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli finally bested their rivals Arrogance in a number one contenders match and now look set to face off with one of the top teams in the world. With all four of these men in action tomorrow night in the Battle of Los Angeles tournament two of them will have all the momentum in the world behind them as they enter as the PWG World Tag Team Champions. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round El Generico vs. Kid KashKid Kash is not a popular man amongst the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla nation. Since his debut he has trashed everything that PWG stands for, calling the promotion and everyone in it ‘jokes’. That hasn’t sat well with the rest of the roster but thus far Kash has backed up his words and vanquished every fore that has stepped up to face him. Now El Generico, a PWG fan favourite, takes his shot at the Notorious K.I.D. knowing full well that if Kid Kash wins the Battle of Los Angeles and therefore the PWG World Championship then he will have achieved his goal. That can’t happen. El Generico, prepare the Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round Match Kevin Steen vs. Scott LostKevin Steen enters the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles as one of the favourites. Pissed off over the forced departure of Colt Cabana and gagging for a chance to do some serious damage to Joey Ryan the powerful star will be a force to be reckoned with. Enter Scott Lost, one half of Arrogance and a former PWG World Tag Team Champion. Lost might have made his name in tag team wrestling but he is more than prepared for this tournament. While he might be at a serious size and weight disadvantage in this match there is no doubt that he is capable of pulling of an upset, and Kevin Steen will be aware of that just like the rest of us. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round Match Homicide vs. Matt SydalMatt Sydal enters the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament in the hope that it will be his springboard to the big time, but there’s probably no harder person to do that against than the Notorious 187, Homicide. As one half of the inaugural PWG World Tag Team Champions Homicide is no stranger to success and now he’s back in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla looking for that illusive World Championship. Matt Sydal will be looking to his high flying athletic prowess to take the fight to Homicide, but rest assured that Homicide is no stranger to a little high flying himself. This one is going to be spectacular. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round Match Roderick Strong vs. Giant BernardBe afraid, be very afraid. The man known as Giant Bernard has come to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, and he isn’t happy. That’s nothing new of course, he’s never happy, but considering he’s coming over with the intention of winning the Battle of Los Angeles I would not want to be the man who faces him in his PWG debut. Oh, sorry Roderick Strong, didn’t meant to scare you. Of course, Roderick Strong isn’t one to feel fear, he’d much rather kill somebody in the ring just like he did with poor old Bino Gambino back at Threemendous. When these two hard hitting, roughneck stars collide, there’ll only be one winner – the people who make our rings, because these two are likely to tear it apart. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round Match Bryan Danielson vs. Apollo KahnAs one of the younger, more inexperienced members of the PWG roster Apollo Kahn has proven himself as a very capable young competitor. Going into the Battle of Los Angeles tournament he promised that this would be his year, that in Reseda we would witness the birth of a living legend. Only, that’s going to be difficult when his first round opponent is possible the best wrestler on the independent scene right now. The American Dragon, Bryan Danielson, is known for being able to beat anybody, for his stamina, his strikes, his technique, thinking about it find us one area where he isn’t skilled and we’ll let him show you the wrong side of the Cattle Mutilation. Plus…TJ Wilson & TJ Perkins vs. The Ballard Brothers

Just wanted to say the card for BOLA 2006 looks fantastic. Between the tourney [Generico V Kid Kash ftw], Kings versus the Guns, and Joey Ryan versus AJ Styles, it should be a great show. Expecting Generico or Danielson to win the tournament. Can't wait for the show. Also, Matt Classic!

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Battle of Los Angeles 2006 Night One 1st September --- Like Threemendous there are around 350 people here tonight. A lot of excitement about pretty much every match here tonight, especially the incoming talent like Giant Bernard and TJ Wilson. ---- Excalibur ran down the structure of the tournament before taking his seat next to Joey Styles to provide live DVD commentary for tonight. 1. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Kevin Steen Defeated Scott Lost with the Package Piledriver. The opening match of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament turned out to be a big one, as fan favourite Kevin Steen faced off with last year’s winner. If the quality of this match is indicative of the tournament as a whole then we’re looking at one of the greatest series of shows in PWG history, because these two brought it and they brought it hard. Scott Lost might have been at a power and weight disadvantage but he proved that he has no problems matching the hard hitting, smash mouth style of Kevin Steen with fast paced offence focused around vicious strikes. Lost focused on the leg of Steen, working away at the limb in the hope of slowing the big man down, and for the most part it seemed like it was working until Steen caught him with a boot on the outside of the ring and then powerbombed him onto the ring apron. The two fought around ringside, the fans very narrowly avoiding injury themselves at moments, before Lost caught Steen with a low dropkick, rolled into the ring and sprinted straight to the ropes, rebounding and diving over on top of Steen with a springboard senton bomb! It looked like Lost had the match in the bag but it took him too long to get Steen back into the ring with the weight difference and by the time he went for Lost in Space Steen rolled out of the way, Lost smashing into the mat. Kevin Steen pulled Lost up and dropped him with the Package Piledriver, getting the pinfall to advance in the tournament. 2. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Bryan Danielson Defeated Apollo Kahn with the Cattle Mutilation. This was certainly an interesting matchup as the experienced, technically gifted Bryan Danielson went one on one with a relative newcomer in the big and powerful Apollo Kahn. There was definitely a mismatch when it came down to who had the better ring presence and knowledge as Bryan Danielson outwitted Kahn on numerous occasions, but it’s hard not to give Kahn his due because he took Danielson to the limit, overpowering Danielson and surprisingly throwing him around the ring at points. The two went back and forth for the most part as Kahn’s power turned out to be a pretty effective counter for the American Dragon’s technical wrestling and striking ability, but as the match went on Danielson slowly took more and more control of the match. He eventually went for the Bridging Dragon Suplex but Kahn blasted him with multiple elbows that broke the hold and Danielson turned straight into a belly to belly suplex that Kahn altered to spike the American Dragon straight onto his head. Apollo Kahn followed this up by going for Kahn Time, a modified Torture Rack Neckbreaker, but Danielson managed to escape out the back of the move and drop Kahn with the Regal-Plex that he bridged into the Cattle Mutilation. Kahn fought valiantly to hold on, but had little choice but to tap out, giving Danielson his spot in the second round. - Prior to the next match Kid Kash grabs a microphone and once again starts to rip into Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. He says that the Battle of Los Angeles is a ridiculous tournament full of no talent, small town hillbillies and that the mere idea that anybody else could win this tournament is stupid. Kash calls himself the only real talent on the roster, and is about to declare himself the next PWG World Champion when El Generico interrupts, hitting the ring and going straight after Kid Kash to kick start this match with a bang. 3. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Kid Kash Defeated El Generico with a top rope Brain Buster. Just like every other match that Kid Kash has participated in during his time here in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla there was little doubt who the fan favourite was. Every single one of the people in attendance seemed to be behind El Generico and that is a testament to just how good Kid Kash is at making people love to hate him. This, coupled with the amazing performance that these two men put on, meant that this could be seen as Kid Kash’s best PWG match. The two really went at it with a fast paced back and forth contest that featured multiple different styles. They started off with some solid grappling but that quickly devolved into a vicious brawl on the outside which Kash dominated, his history as an ECW extremist coming into play as he threw Generico into the ring, into the turnbuckle, into chairs and through the crowd. Generico came back with an elbow that sent Kash towards the ring before Generico leapt off of a fans chair and caught Kash with a hurricanrana into the ring apron. Generico brought the match back into the ring where the two pulled out some of their bigger signature manoeuvres but no matter what they pulled out they couldn’t put the other away. As the match neared its end things got fast paced again as the two men flew about the ring, Kash matching Generico move for move before Kash went up high and Generico caught him with a step up enzuigiri that dropped Kash split legged onto the turnbuckle. Generico went up high and tried setting Kash up for the Brainbustaaaaahhhhh!!!!! Kash managed to counter it and delivered a Brainbuster of his own straight off of the top rope. Kash had little trouble making the pin at this point, ending the match much to the disgust of the crowd. - Following the match Kid Kash attempted to continue his assault in much the same way he has done in the past few months, only for Davey Richards to hit the ring. Kash and Richards squared up to each other, knowing full well that they could meet up during this tournament, before Kash bailed, not ready for another fight as the Battle of Los Angeles tournament heats up here in Reseda. 4.) TJ Wilson & TJ Perkins Defeated The Ballard Brothers when TJ Perkins used the Detonation Kick on Shane Ballard. This was more of a showcase for TJ Wilson & TJ Perkins (the two TJ’s anybody?) than a legitimate match, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t an entertaining showing. Wilson and Perkins will both be in action in tomorrow’s first round matches and from their performance in this one there’s a good chance they could qualify for the final night of the tournament. The Ballard Brothers tried their hardest to fight back against the fast paced, high impact style of Wilson & Perkins but that is much easier said than done and in the end they fell in fairly convincing circumstances as the pair hit Shannon Ballard with a double superkick to take him out of the match before Wilson hit the Rolling Stampede and Perkins followed up with the Detonation Kick to get the pinfall and the victory. 5. PWG WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH) Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin vs. The Kings of Wrestling went to a thirty minute time-limit draw. Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin have beaten every single tag team on the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla roster bar the Kings of Wrestling, and with the PWG World Tag Team Championships on the line this one had high stakes. Shelley & Sabin were at a considerable size and strength disadvantage but that didn’t seem to make any kind of difference as the champions kept themselves in this one every moment of the match. Things started off pretty fast with some quick tags on both sides of things to showcase what everybody can do and it was here that most expected the Kings of Wrestling to struggle against a team who have become so well known amongst the PWG faithful for their high flying, fast paced attacks. Despite that Hero and Castagnoli had little trouble keeping things grounded just by their stiff offence, mixing up strikes with European style wrestling. As the match continued the Kings of Wrestling looked more and more likely to take the victory as they isolated Chris Sabin in the corner, tagging in and out and working away at the Future. Every time that Alex Shelley attempted to get involved referee Rick Knox had to stop him and that just let the Kings of Wrestling double team Sabin. Eventually Hero went for the Rolling Elbow in the corner only for Sabin to duck and for Hero to hit Castagnoli, dropping his partner off of the ring apron. Sabin blasted Hero in the back with a big dropkick and managed to make the hot tag to Alex Shelley, who hit the ring in a blaze of fire and took the fight to the Kings of Wrestling. However just when it looked like he was about to put the finishing touch to the match and put Hero down the master of the knock out hit him with a last second rolling elbow that dropped Shelley, only for Chris Hero to follow him down, exhausted. With the two down in the ring and Chris Sabin and Claudio Castagnoli on the outside nobody could put the finish to the match before the thirty minute time limit ran out and Rick Knox called for the bell. Third Defence. - As both teams slowly recovered from the vicious, exhausting match a massive argument broke out as both teams wanted to finish this match. The fans begin chanting “let them finish” but Rick Knox wasn’t able to because of the importance of the Battle of Los Angeles tournament. Knox hightailed it pretty quickly as Shelley & Sabin and the Kings of Wrestling squared up to each other, this one far from over between these two teams. 6. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Matt Sydal Defeated Homicide with the Frankensteiner. Another very interesting contest as one of the youngest competitors in the Battle of Los Angeles tournament battled it out with one of the more experienced, toughest participants in the tournament. The biggest problem for Sydal in this match is that usually he has little trouble keeping his opponent on the back foot due to his athleticism but he couldn’t really do that in this one, Homicide being more than capable of keeping him grounded and matching him when he picked up the pace. This meant that Sydal had to switch up his game plan against Homicide, especially when it came to being out of his element when the match went outside and Homicide brought in his hard hitting brawling skills. Still Sydal impressed all by managing to go toe to toe with Homicide for the most part, including hitting a spectacular hurricanrana from the top turnbuckle to the outside of the ring that sent both men to the ground. From there the match became much more even and Sydal even had control for a part of it after a running high knee to the chest from the ring apron. The match returned to the ring and Homicide connected with a painful looking boot to the jaw that got him right back into the driving seat. Eventually Homicide went for Da Cop Killer, but Sydal flipped out on the turn, rebounded off of the ropes and hit Homicide with a massive Frankensteiner and hooking the legs in the process to get the shock victory! 7. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Roderick Strong Defeated Giant Bernard with Death by Roderick. Now this was a battle. These two men came into this one fully prepared to fight and that’s what it was, because you don’t get into the ring with a man like Giant Bernard and wrestling, it just doesn’t work. Bernard is an intimidating figure and not even Roderick Strong could hide that he was a little bit concerned about stepping in the ring with a man who promised to “break bones and spill blood” in an exclusive video on the PWG website this week. Still Roderick isn’t a man known for backing down and he went into this with the same gusto and confidently stoic attitude that he always has. The two went to war from the very first second, nailing each other with vicious elbows and right hands. It was Bernard that took the lead first as he pushed Strong back with vicious elbows that looked more than a little stiff, and this quickly became the norm for Bernard, hitting stiff blows that seemed to genuinely hurt Strong. Of course Roderick Strong isn’t known for pulling his punches either and when he went on the attack he rocked Bernard, the match quickly turning into a case of who could hit hardest. The two went back and forth, the match descending into a full out brawl on the outside as Giant Bernard threw Strong into the crowd. Strong grabbed one of the steel chairs, folding it up and ramming it into Bernard’s stomache before slamming it down across his back. Ricky Knox looked set to disqualify him but Bernard powered through the chair shots, pushing Knox back to get to Strong and Knox just let it play out. Strong swung again but Bernard blocked with a boot to the gut and threw Strong into the ring apron before grabbing the chair and trying to crush Strong’s head against the apron. Strong avoided it and took the fight straight back to Bernard as the match went back into the ring. Strong seemed to take control thanks to the chair shots but couldn’t lift Bernard to hit any of his big moves and couldn’t take him down any other way. Bernard blasted Strong with a headbutt and then went for the corner splash, only for Strong to duck and lift Bernard head first into the turnbuckle. Strong managed to lift Bernard onto the top turnbuckle and proceeded to use it as assistance to connect with the Death by Roderick, managing to get the pinfall and advance in the tournament! - As Roderick Strong begins celebrating Giant Bernard slowly gets to his feet, realizing that somehow Roderick Strong pulled out the victory. Bernard seems to focus in on Roderick Strong and when Strong turned around Bernard blasted him with a huge Lariat. Bernard didn’t stop there, lifting Strong up and dropping him to the mat with the Bernard Bomb. Giant Bernard stood over Strong, but didn’t seem contest as he grabbed Strong around the throat and yanked him up onto his feet before dropping him with a second Bernard Bomb. Giant Bernard leaves the ring, leaving Roderick Strong unconscious in the ring. - Prior to the next match PWG World Champion Joey Ryan comes out to a chorus of boos from the crowd. He asks for a microphone and the crowd start chanting “we want Colt”. Ryan says that’s no point in chanting, Colt Cabana isn’t ever coming back! He says that Colt was always an idiot, but he clearly lost a few more brain cells recently because he put his career on the line in a match he could never win. He continues on to say that it is a travesty that he has to defend his title in this tournament, that he is being treated unfairly simply because he is better than everybody else, that he… before he can finish that sentence, he is cut off by AJ Style. The main event is about to get underway, and it’s a big one! 8. PWG WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH; BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Joey Ryan Defeated AJ Styles. After banishing Colt Cabana from Pro Wrestling Guerrilla last month Joey Ryan had another big challenge here tonight, and this was only the beginning of it because every Battle of Los Angeles tournament match that the PWG World champion competes in they will be required to defend that very title, meaning we could see up to three new World Champions by the end of this tournament. Still, Joey Ryan wasn’t looking ahead when he knew he had to defeat AJ Styles to get there, and that certainly isn’t an easy task no matter who you are. AJ came into this one with a big reputation behind him, possibly the biggest out of everybody in this tournament for his career in TNA, and a whole lot of talent to back it up and with the chance of becoming the PWG World Champion for a second time he was hotter than ever. Joey Ryan was caught out in the opening minutes as he completely underestimated just how hard AJ Styles would go into this match. After being caught with a springboard elbow before the bell had even rung and being forced onto the back foot from the moment the match started it was safe to say that Ryan’s casualness didn’t last long as he quickly fought back and got himself into the match. And that is the thing about Joey Ryan, the fans might love to hate him and he might be the most arrogant man on the roster but the guy can wrestle, and if he hadn’t proved that in his first fourteen title defences then he sure as hell did here. Ryan matched Styles throughout, the two men going back and forth for the entire minute with no clear winner. There was a genuine feeling of excitement amongst this Reseda crowd that grew as the match went on because they truly felt that AJ Styles could capture the title in the first round of this tournament, and if you get that feeling on the first night of the tournament then you just know that there are some big things to come. Joey Ryan took the fight outside when he countered a hurricanrana and threw Styles over the top rope to the floor, but even out there neither man could get an advantage. Ryan attempted to whip Styles into the ring apron only for the Phenomenal One to show incredible athleticism by jumping up onto the ring apron and springboarding off of the middle rope with a moonsault that sent both men crashing to the floor. Styles looked like he had things in hand as he threw Ryan back into the ring and went up top, going for the Spiral Tap only for Ryan to get his knees up, Styles landing on them back first. AJ staggered away and Joey Ryan looked to capitalise with the Mustache Ride only for Styles to counter than. AJ went for the Styles Clash but Ryan managed to fight out of it and then deliver a low blow out of the sight of the official, before connecting with the Mustache Ride and getting the cover for the victory, successfully retaining the title and moving one step forward in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles. PWG Battle of Los Angeles 2006 Night Two 2nd September 20062006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round MatchDavey Richards vs. Chris HeroTwo men who have are probably better known for their respective tag team history than their singles success face off in the main event of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles’ second night. Chris Hero comes in off of an incredible time limit draw in the Kings of Wrestling’s tag team titles defence and he’ll face another big challenge here as he faces Davey Richards, a man who has pledged to win the tournament after breaking away from his tag team partner Super Dragon. One thing is for certain with this one, it will be hard hitting, it will be painful and it will be downright brutal but to the victor goes the spoils and whoever walks out of night two with the win here will have all of the momentum behind them ahead of the final night. Anything GoesSuper Dragon vs. HomicideWhile Davey Richards looks to reignite his singles career in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla his tag team partner looks to do the same, and what a way to do it. Super Dragon, a man who has never been known for holding back faces off with Homicide, the notorious 187. Coming off of a surprising defeat in the first round of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Homicide is determined to make an immediate impression on the PWG fans while Super Dragon is looking to prove just how big a mistake was made when he wasn’t even included in the tournament to begin with. With no rules and no boundaries to restrict them these two will have nothing to stop them from tearing each other apart. Bring some tissues, you’ll probably be wiping blood off of you after this one. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round MatchJack Evans vs. Samoa JoeSamoa Joe will return to Pro Wrestling Guerrilla for the first time in four months as he enters the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles and while many consider him to be one of the clear favourites he has a pretty difficult first round challenge in Jack Evans. Having proven himself as one of the up and coming stars here in PWG Evans will be looking to take his growing reputation one step further with a victory in Reseda. No matter who wins this one they will undoubtedly be considered strong favourites for the tournament and in turn Joey Ryan’s PWG World Championship. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round MatchCIMA vs. TJ PerkinsThis one is the story of two men with a considerable difference in experience. While there is only three years difference in how long they’ve actually been competing CIMA has already made his name all across the world, competing in promotions such as Ring of Honor and the very promotion that he is representing in the tournament, Dragon Gate. TJ Perkins on the other hand still feels like an unknown entity but has shown heart, skill and determination in his prior PWG matches. While he may be facing a huge challenge there is also a huge reward on the line for the winner, because the winner of this match will book themselves a second round match against Joey Ryan and you know what that means – a shot at the PWG World Championship. Which of these men will book themselves the biggest opportunity of their PWG careers, find out in Reseda! Four Way Elimination MatchRonin vs. El Generico vs. Apollo Kahn vs. Ricky ReyesWith the Battle of Los Angeles tournament in full swing everybody not involved in the tournament are looking for their own chance to make an impact. Both Apollo Kahn and El Generico were eliminated yesterday while Ronin and Ricky Reyes weren’t deemed impressive enough to participate in the first place which means everybody has their reason to win this one, you know, other than the fact that they should want to win it anyway. Whoever wins will come out of Reseda with a huge victory and the right to call themselves a future contender to the title. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round MatchClaudio Castagnoli vs. Matt ClassicWe’re not entirely sure what to say about this one. Before being forced to leave PWG forever Colt Cabana used his one final request to get his close friend Matt Classic a spot in the tournament, and you just can’t turn down Colt when he gives you the puppy dog eyes. But no matter where we look or who we ask we just can’t find out anything about the masked man known as Matt Classic, but one thing is for certain he couldn’t have a bigger first match than this one. Claudio is coming off of that epic time limit draw last night and after coming so close to becoming the PWG World Tag Team Champion he will be looking to inflict a little pain on the newcomer. While Classic is getting the opportunity of a lifetime we can’t exactly say we envy him, this might just be the shortest run in PWG history. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round MatchChris Bosh vs. TJ WilsonChris Bosh was the unexpected highlight of the premiere Battle of Los Angeles. Not only was he the eventual winner of the tournament but he defeated El Generico, James Gibson, Quicksilver and AJ Styles in the process. Now he starts the defence of that crown against one of the most highly anticipated debuting stars in PWG history. TJ Wilson is the final graduate of the world renowned Hart Dungeon. He has been wrestling since he was fifteen and has been all around the world. Now he comes to PWG with the intention of winning the Battle of Los Angeles and the PWG World Championship. Will Chris Bosh continue on in the hopes of winning two years in a row, or will TJ Wilson make a huge splash in his PWG debut, there’s only one way to find out. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles First Round MatchAlex Shelley vs. Chris SabinIf you want to start the second night of the Battle of Los Angeles tournament off with a bang how do you do it? Well if you’re us you pit two of the most exciting wrestlers on the independent scene against each other. Oh yeah, and they just so happen to be the current PWG World Tag Team Champions. Yes, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, fresh off of their thirty minute time limit draw with the Kings of Wrestling last night, will face off against each other in a match where only one man can advance in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament. While we are sure to see a guaranteed five star match from these two there is another big question hanging over this match – can these two men face off with so much on the line and remain such an impressive team?

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Battle of Los Angeles 2006 Night Two 2nd September 2006
1. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Alex Shelley Defeated Chris Sabin with a Frog Splash. The first match of the night was a big one as the PWG World Tag Team Champions threw their friendship aside and went one on one in this first round matchup. Things started off with a handshake and the two went at it with that respectful tone, there wasn’t any cheap tactics or arrogance here, it was all about great wrestling and trying to prove who the better man was on the night. Both men kept it fast placed though Sabin seemed to have a bit of an edge as he brought his superior mat wrestling into play pretty early on though that didn’t stop them from pulling out some spectacular high spots. Neither man could manage to keep control, the momentum shifting back and forth at such a pace that it was hard to figure out who was getting the better of it. As the match headed towards the end Shelley came off the top with an insane screwdriver moonsault only for Sabin to roll out of the way. Sabin went for the Over Easy but Shelley escaped out of the back and then nailed Sabin with the superkick and while it rocked Sabin he fired back with a superkick of his own! Shelley was rocked, Sabin going for the Cradle Drop but once again Shelley managed to slip on, hitting a low dropkick to the knee and then hit Shellshock, followed by a Frog splash to pick up the victory! - Following the match Alex Shelley helps his partner up onto his feet, the two men sharing a handshake and an embrace to signal that they are still very much on the same page following that terrific opening contest. 2. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Chris Bosh Defeated TJ Wilson with Maximum Bosh. Chris Bosh came into this tournament knowing that he had momentum on his side having won last years tournament, but he faced a big challenge in the first round in the form of the dungeon graduate TJ Wilson. Both of these men have very similar styles, focused on intense, powerful technical based wrestling that wears down the opponent, so this one was guaranteed to be fantastic. Things started off quickly as Wilson used his speed to take control of the match while Bosh seemed a little outmatched, unable to keep up with Wilson until he connected with a boot in the corner followed by a second turnbuckle flying leg lariat. Bosh attempted to keep Wilson grounded, working over his legs in an attempt to neutralise that speed while Wilson continued to showcase his skills in his PWG debut, using an exciting mix of speed, technical wrestling and submission moves to thrill the crowd. Wilson sent Bosh to the outside with a big dropkick and then flipped over on top of Bosh with an insane suicide dive that sent both men crashing into the ringside seating, followed by a running hurricanrana from the ring apron onto Bosh. The match went back to the ring where Wilson attempted to go for the sharpshooter, only for Bosh to turn it into a small package for the two count. There was another flurry of back and forth offence between the pair, Wilson going for the hurricanrana once again only for Bosh to counter and literally throw TJ Wilson into the turnbuckle back first, followed quickly by the Maximum Bosh for the victory. Chris Bosh advances into the second round of the tournament as he continues in his attempt to defend his crown, while TJ Wilson got a “please come back” chant. - Prior to the next match Claudio Castagnoli asked for a microphone with Matt Classic already in the ring. Castagnoli berated Classic, asking if his participating in the tournament was meant to be a funny joke that nobody outside of America understands. He mocks Classic’s figure and his mask saying that Colt Cabana may have got him this spot in the tournament but it will be Claudio Castangoli, the king of wrestling, who books him his spot in the hospital. Classic takes the microphone and simply states that Castagnoli talks too much and that in his generation, wrestlers wrestled. He dropped the microphone and lifted Castangoli up, dropping the surprised king of wrestling with a big powerslam. 3. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Matt Classic Defeated Claudio Castagnoli with the Piledriver. This one was certainly strange to say the least. Matt Classic is apparently an old school wrestler; there are even rumours that he was World Champion in 1952 so god only knows how old he is under that mask, and considering there’s absolutely no background details on him anywhere on the entire internet, Claudio had no idea what to expect and seemed overly confident about winning this one. As it turned out Classic is a pretty hard hitting competitor because he matched everything that Claudio threw at him and actually seemed to gain control early on in the match with a variarty of strong, old school manoeuvres including a big powerslam and multiple heart thrusts. Castagnoli fought back, hitting a big European uppercut from the top rope and then grounding Classic as he worked over the head and neck. He continued working over Classic, taking him down every time that he started building up momentum, eventually going for the Very European Uppercut. The only problem was that Classic planted his feet on the mat and Claudio just couldn’t lift him up, Classic nailing him with a headbutt and then locking in the Head Vice. Castagnoli managed to fight out of the Head Vice and went for the Roaring Swiss Elbow, but Classic dodged and then connected with the Piledriver to pick up the pinfall and the absolutely shocking victory. 4. ANYTHING GOES) Super Dragon Defeated Homicide with the Psycho Driver. There was absolutely no doubt in anybody’s mind that this match was going to be downright brutal, violent and bloody and guess what? It was all of those things and more. Neither men wasted any time under the illusion that this would be a wrestling match, just exploding in a vicious brawl in the middle of the ring that included some very stiff looking strikes and some very pained expressions. Super Dragon is famed for exactly how hard he can hit and while Homicide couldn’t match that strength he had no problems matching the viciousness and adding in some speed and flash of his own. It wasn’t long before the match descended to the outside, Homicide grabbing chairs from around the ring and just lobbing them at Super Dragon repeatedly until he took him to ground. Homicide proceeded to bring a table into play, setting it up on the outside and then pulling Super Dragon up onto the ring apron where he went for a suplex. Dragon countered and then went for the Psycho Driver only for Homicide to counter that, shoulder tossing Dragon up and over straight through the table. Homicide rolled Dragon back into the ring and went for the pin but only managed a two count, so he once again went outside, throwing some of the chairs he had used into the ring and attempting to use them to take Super Dragon out, only for Dragon to duck under the chair shot and then hit the UFO, sending Homicide face first into the chair, splitting him open. Super Dragon went outside the ring and brought in a kendo stick which he then used to just wail on Homicide, striking him across the back so many times that horrible red welts developed. Super Dragon then used the kendo stick as an assist for the absolutely vicious Violent Party, just downright brutalising Homicide before going for the cover, only to manage a two count! Dragon brought a table into play, setting it up near the corner, only for Homicide to catch him out of nowhere with a steel chain assisted right hand but only managing a near fall. Homicide then took Super Dragon up to the top turnbuckle, looking to send him through the table, but Super Dragon countered, hoisting Homicide up and then planting him through the table with the Psycho Driver! Both men looked like they had been broken in half! Super Dragon rolled on top of Homicide, draping an arm over him and getting the pinfall and the three count to bring an end to this match. 5.) Apollo Kahn Defeated Ronin, El Generico and Ricky Reyes when he used Kahn Time on Ronin. Just like in the previous match this was not part of the Battle of Los Angeles tournament, but that didn’t mean that it wasn’t just as important when it came to proving themselves. All four men brought contrasting styles to the match, Generico providing speed and high risk sports, Ronin using an unusual lucha style for a big man, Kahn mixing up suplexes and stiff strikes and Reyes just ripping through everything with Rottweiler like intensity. The match was fast paced and there was barely a second without some kind of action going on in or outside the ring. While everyone got their moment to shine Apollo Kahn was particularly impressive, throwing out suplexes and stiff looking strikes all over the place and even taking Ronin clean out of the match with a belly to belly suplex from the ring apron to the outside. Generico connected with the Spike Brainbuster, leaving it just down to Generico and Kahn to go at it. Both men gave it everything they got, going back and forth in the ring before Kahn nailed Generico with a big powerbomb into the turnbuckle followed by Kahn Time to pick up this monumental victory. - Prior to the next match Jack Evans grabbed a microphone while Samoa Joe watched on unimpressed. Evans started talking about how tonight was the beginning of the age of Evans, that thanks to his help in softening Colt Cabana up (failing to mention how he actually lost that match) Joey Ryan has now banished that buffoon from the company and left room at the top for the show stealing, aerial emperor known as Jack Evans! The fans booed as Samoa Joe walked up to him, snatching the microphone out of his hand and saying that the only one thing that is going to happen to Evans tonight – Joe was gonna kill him! Joe through the microphone out of the ring, signalling that it was time to get this one underway. 6. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Samoa Joe Defeated Jack Evans with the Rear Naked Choke. After a two match break we returned to the first round of the Battle of Los Angeles tournament with a bit of a size mismatch as Samoa Joe took on the considerably lighter Jack Evans. Despite this mismatch Jack Evans went into this match as cocky as ever though that was quickly knocked right out of him as Samoa Joe kicked the match off by unloading with a serious of vicious strikes that knocked him for a loop. Evans managed to fight back initially by using his speed but it seemed like every time he would build up some momentum Joe would just stop him dead like a brick wall. Evans managed to strike lucky when he managed to land a hurricanrana that sent Joe over the top rope, followed by an insane springboard 450 splash right on top of Joe that took both men down to the ground. With the match on the outside Evans got in considerably more offence as he used the ring apron, the ringside seating and even at one point a fans chest to leap all over the place and hit all kinds of springboard moves. Things seemed to be going well until Samoa Joe caught Jack Evans mid-flight and then dropped him back first onto the edge of the ring apron with an inverted front powerslam. Joe took the match back into the ring and went for the Muscle Buster only for Jack Evans to slip out and roll Joe up for a two count. Evans managed to connect with an enzuigiri and followed it up with a quickfire Ode to Blitzkrieg but could only managed a two count. He went up high looking for the 630 Senton but Samoa Joe rolled out of the way, and as Evans crashed and burned the Samoan Submission Machine lived up to his name, quickly locking in the Rear Naked Choke and forcing Evans to tap out. 7. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) CIMA Defeated TJ Perkins with the Nagoya Castle. While the last match had a massive size and weight difference this one had a considerable experience difference as CIMA came into this match with nine years in the business under his belt compared to Perkins six and a massive experience edge when it came to wrestling all around the world. Despite this TJ Perkins seemed confident and it quickly became apparent why as he matched CIMA move for move in the early going of this hotly contested first round match. CIMA is known for being able to wrestle but hit hard at the same time and he did exactly that right from the off when he caught Perkins with a running big boot. CIMA seemed to be in control after that but Perkins managed to fight back as the two exchanged a series of fast paced, beautifully executed technical holds and counters that ended with Perkins hitting a spinning armbar converted into a hurricanrana into the corner. Perkins brought out some stiff looking martial arts kicks that matched CIMA for intensity and for a while it looked like Perkins may pull off a massive upset right here as he connected with a move that CIMA is known for – a corner to corner somersault missile dropkick. However when Perkins went for a second consecutive dropkick CIMA grabbed him by the boots, wheel barrowed him and then just flung him right out of the ring, Perkins hitting the floor hard. CIMA quickly dragged the match back into the ring and set up for the Schwein, only for Perkins to escape out the back, lift CIMA up and connect with the Detonation Kick! Perkins went for the cover but could only manage a two count. The quick paced back and forth continued turning into a series of finishing move attempts and counters that ended with CIMA countering the Mega Buster and connecting with the Nagoya Castle to pick up the pinfall for the victory! - The crowd are going crazy following the match, both of these men having giving PWG higher ups plenty of reasons to bring them back following the Battle of Los Angeles tournament. There was a big announcement following the match that as a result of the victory CIMA will be challenging Joey Ryan for the PWG World Championship in the second round of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tomorrow night. 8. BATTLE OF LOS ANGELES 2006 FIRST ROUND MATCH) Davey Richards Defeated Chris Hero with the DR Driver. This was a huge opportunity for these two men because not only did they have the chance to move onto the second round of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles, but they also had the opportunity to cement themselves as singles wrestlers here in PWG. Both men have been known mostly for their tag team work in PWG, Hero as a member of the Kings of Wrestling and Richards as a former PWG Tag Team Champion with Super Dragon, so both needed this win which meant that they went in hard. In fact ‘hard’ might be a massive understatement to describe exactly how these two men approached this match because it was one of the most vicious, down and out fights PWG has ever seen. Everyone knows that Richards and Hero don’t pull their punches and this one was possibly the definition of a stiff fight because every punch, chop and kick looked like it was extremely painful. Of course neither are slouches when it comes to technical wrestling either, quite the opposite in fact and they went out of their way to prove that by trying to wrestle circles around each other. What this resulted in was a match that was constantly switching between wrestling and MMA style striking. Neither man seemed able to get the upper hand at any point and that just pissed them off more, Richards connecting with a leaping double knee to the face that actually cut Hero open just above the eye. Richards went firmly on the offensive from there as he targeted the cut, possibly hoping to open it enough so that Hero’s vision would be impaired and while that seemed to be working for the most part Hero ended up countering a double knee facebreaker, slipping out the back and then connecting with a triple rolling elbow that knocked Richards silly, followed up by the Cyclone Kill, dropping Richards to the mat but it was only enough for a two count. Hero, despite blood now dripping from the cut above his eye, worked away at the arm of Richards leading into a successful Hangman’s Clutch II. Richards was trapped for close to forty to fifty seconds but refuses to tap out and managed to escape from the move thanks to a well-timed roll that led him to lift Hero up and flip him into a folding powerbomb for a two count. The two had a final short exchange that ended with Richards countering the Cyclone Kill and connecting with the DR Driver to pick up the victory and close out the second night of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles in epic fashion.

- Steen, Danielson and Kash advancing in the tournament is all good, although the loss for Generico stings a bit. You've used Kash well though, and clearly he's a big name in the promotion.
- An awesome tag team consisting of Perkins & Williams, a nice victory for them as well. Would be nice to see Wilson stick around and make this a permanent team.
- Tag Title match goes the time limit with MCMG vs KOW. I'm sure it was an insane match. Will be interesting to see who takes the tag titles from Shelley and Sabin.
- Sydal, Strong, and Ryan all advancing in the tournament is good choices, and I really want to see a Strong/Bernard match in real life. sad that Bernard had to lose, but it keeps the home talent strong. Ryan having to defend his belt in all his matches is fun. He has to win the tournament or lose his belt.
- Amazing opening contest for night two with the tag team champions going at it in the BOLA Tournament. Would have been happy with either man going through, and I'm glad there's no hard feelings.
- Early PWG isn't my strong point, so I don't have a lot of knowledge of Chris Bosh. I t hink he's one of the original six that started the company though. Would have liked TJ Wilson to win this one.
- Matt Classic with a strong debut, defeating Claudio Castagnoli. I wonder if you'll ever have him unmask, revealing who we all know it is.
- Insane match with Super Dragon and Homicide. Not sure who Apollo Khan is, but you gave him a good win over El Generico, Ronin and Ricky Reyes.
- Samoa Joe, CIMA and Davey Richards all advancing is fun. Would have rather had Hero beat Richards, but all is good. CIMA getting the PWG Championship match in the next round is awesome, but I'm sure Joey Ryan will steal the victory and advance in the tournament.

Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Battle of Los Angeles 2006 Night Three3rd September 2006The 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament will come to and end with twelve men still vying for the right to be called not only the Battle of Los Angeles winner but also the PWG World Champion. The final night of the tournament will consist of the remaining three rounds. The second round will see the remaining twelve competitors face off in six singles matches. The winners of those six matches will move forwards into two triple threat semi-final bouts with the two victors moving onto the finals of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament. Only one man can walk out as the winner, only one man can walk out as PWG World Champion. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Finals for the PWG World ChampionshipTBD vs. TBD 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Semi-Final Match for the PWG World ChampionshipTBD vs. TBD vs. TBD 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Semi-FinalsTBD vs. TBD vs. TBD 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Second Round Match for the PWG World ChampionshipJoey Ryan [c] vs. CIMAOne of the big stories going into the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament was that PWG World Championship would be on the line in every single match that the champion competed in. While Joey Ryan certainly wasn’t happy with that decision there was little he could do but try to win the entire tournament and retain his title. In the first round he successfully managed to defeat AJ Styles to retain his title, but on night three he will have to defend his title three times if he wants to walk away with the gold. That first defence comes against Dragon Gate representative CIMA. Having defeated TJ Perkins in one of the highlights of the first round CIMA now has a chance to become the first ever Japanese PWG World Champion and, if he can win the tournament overall, to take the title back to Dragon Gate with him. This one has high stakes and it’s only the first round! 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Second Round MatchKid Kash vs. Davey RichardsKid Kash may be the most hated man in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla right now, but there’s no arguing that he is also one of the most talented, and that he’s also undefeated in his first five matches since debuting back in May. From injuring Petey Williams to defeating El Generico in the first round of the tournament Kid Kash has bad mouthed PWG at every turn and looking pretty unstoppable in the process. Of course, one man who he hasn’t faced might just be the one man who could stop him on the spot. Davey Richards, a former PWG World Tag Team Champion, has entered the Battle of Los Angeles tournament with the intention of making his name a singles star and he started off in impressive fashion with a first round victory over Chris Hero in one of the hardest hitting contests in the tournament thus far. Now Kash and Richards meet head to head and if you thought Davey and Chris Hero was a brawl then you haven’t seen anything yet. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Second Round MatchBryan Danielson vs. Alex ShelleyThese two men had an eventful first round in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament, with Bryan Danielson managing to come out on top in a close contest against the rising star Apollo Kahn while Alex Shelley was victorious against his PWG World Tag Team Championship co-holder Chris Sabin. Now they meet one on one in the second round of the tournament in what some will consider a dream matchup. Both men have wrestled around the world, both men have proven themselves to be the future of professional wrestling and in Reseda both men have the opportunity to advance one step closer to being crowned the PWG World Champion. For Shelley that could mean becoming the first man to hold both the PWG World Championship and PWG World Tag Team Championship at the same time. For the American Dragon it would be one more reason why some people are calling him the best in the world 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Second Round MatchKevin Steen vs. Matt ClassicMatt Classic came out of nowhere. Having gotten a spot in the Battle of Los Angeles tournament solely because of a recommendation by the recently banished Colt Cabana nobody thought he had a chance in hell of advancing through the first round. But advance he did, defeating Claudio Castagnoli in an impressive display of old school wrestling. Now he comes up against a similarly difficult opponent and one who knows all about Colt Cabana. Kevin Steen, one of the most dangerous men in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, had helped Cabana in his battle against Joey Ryan numerous times but even with Classic’s links to Cabana Steen has promised to knock him out in the ring, knock him out of the tournament and advance on to become the new PWG World Champion. Can Classic pull off another upset or will Steen send him packing? We’ll find out in Reseda. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Second Round MatchRoderick Strong vs. Chris BoshOut of all the competitors in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Chris Bosh has one thing that nobody else has – a Battle of Los Angeles trophy sitting at home. Last year Chris Bosh with the inaugural tournament and started off his 2006 defence of that tournament with a victory over the last graduate of the Hart Dungeon, TJ Wilson. The next challenge on his road to consecutive tournament wins is the always impressive, always hard hitting Roderick Strong. In the first round Strong bested New Japan Pro-Wrestling representative Giant Bernard, but immediately after the match he was left lying by the massive heavyweight. Strong told PWG.COM that he intends to deal with Giant Bernard but he’s going to do it as the PWG World Champion, and how’s he going to do that? Well he’s going to win the Battle of Los Angeles of course. 2006 Battle of Los Angeles Second Round MatchMatt Sydal vs. Samoa JoeIn the sixth and final (let’s hope you’re reading this from the top down like a normal person) second round match of the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles tournament we have a complete mismatch in terms of weight and style. Matt Sydal overcame the brutality of Homicide in the first round of the tournament while Samoa Joe bested another high flyer in the form of Jack Evans. The similarities between Sydal and Evan’s styles, not to mention the considerable weight and power difference between the pair, makes it easy to argue that Samoa Joe has to be considered the favourite in this contest but only a stupid man would outright dismiss the chances off Matt Sydal, who has proven himself to be capable of beating anyone at any time regardless of their height and weight. It’s power vs. speed in the 2006 Battle of Los Angeles and it’s all taking place exclusively in Reseda. Plus…El Generico, TJ Perkins & TJ Wilson vs. Apollo Kahn & The Kings of Wrestling
