Team Fedor Emelianenko Lays Out NEW UFC Contract Demands  Fedor Emelianenko is the hottest name on the MMA free agent market. The only problem is, the heavyweight still has one fight remaining on his current Strikeforce deal. Nonetheless, it hasn’t stopped M-1 Global figurehead Vadim Finkelchtein from laying all his Octagon cards on the table. “I think yes, but not on the same terms they offered us before,” Finkelchtein told ProSport (translated by Fighters Only) of joining forces with the UFC. “We will not let ourselves to get owned. Fedor became very popular [already] outside the Octagon. So, long story short: 1. We would like to receive guaranteed payments. I know that if we agree for percents, they will cheat us. 2. Maybe not a co-promotion (like we offered before), but at least co-branding. 3. They also will have to permit Fedor participating in Sambo competitions, and during our last negotiations UFC were ready for that term.” Are you reading this, Mr. Dana White??? For years, the primary sticking point between the two parties was M-1 Global’s undying insistence on sharing half the profits for all Fedor produced shows. With their meal ticket’s abrupt exile from the land of The Invincibles, the Russians now appear willing to play ball – as long as it’s on their (modified) terms. As far as who they would prefer Fedor to face in his next outing, Finkelchtein professed it was a no-brainer. “We are ready to fight against anyone, but everyone agrees that the most interesting fight right now is the rematch against Fabricio Werdum. We have one fight left on our contract, so if Strikeforce wants to extend it, they should listen to our opinion,” Finkelstein said. “Fedor will fight again sometime between October and November … the only thing fans want to see is Fedor vs. Werdum II. Fabricio himself said that he would like to rematch Fedor.” The reason is clear why M-1 Global is pushing for an immediate mulligan. Werdum not only snapped Emelianenko’s 27-fight win streak last month, but quickly dispelled his unparalleled aura of invincibility as well. The best way to recapture that mojo is by violently rectifying the “fluke” defeat – ala what Georges St-Pierre did to Matt Serra in their UFC 83 rematch. Still no official word on when and where Fedor will finalize his commitment to the San Jose, California based promotion. Credit to 5thround.com I think these are some terms that Dana can work with. ...cool story Russian bros? I mean seriously, this just makes them look like the ex-girlfriend desperate for attention. Dana seemed content to go on without him, and now that he's lost to somebody Dana will say "wasn't good enough for the UFC", what's the appeal of trying to sign him?

I know Dana does, and I'm hoping he can find it within himself to see their terms as fair and then sign Fedor (finally). I'm at least hoping he defeats Werdum in his last Strikeforce fight.

The one thing I don't like about Dana is he won't let his fighters work outside of the company. I understand not letting them fight for another org. but the Sambo thing is just silly.

I've come to terms that Fedor Emelianenko will never be in the UFC a long time ago. I'm not getting too hyped over this. Pretty much how I feel. Even though he lost a fight, and M-1 is easing up a bit, I expect it to fall apart sooner or later. Maybe Dana will play serious hardball, give them the finger, and refuse any demands they have outside of an asking price. Or on the flip side, Fedor may win in a dominant fashion in his next fight and M-1 will go back to wanting a lot of s*it. Either way, I don't plan to hold my breath on seeing Fedor in the octagon. |

Why the hell would Zuffa afgree to these new terms?
No way they'd agree to co-branding as if M1 was a force within MMA to stand alongside the promotional giant that is the UFC.
No way they'd even get offered a high value contract compared to the money they were being offered a year or so ago. That ship has long since sailed.
Since then Fedor hasn't brought the monsters rating despite his postition as Heavyweight King, despite being in high profile fights on FREE TV.
PLUS HE LOST.
The most important thing is that the UFC doesn't need him likle they once did. If anything the Heavyweight division is as exciting & talent rich as any time since the UFC started.
The best Fedor will get is a decent paying contract, can't see him being offered anything else.
The sad thing is, I don't even want him in the octagon right now.
I want to see the rematch with Werdum, how he adjusts his game.
I want to see him fight Overeem. I want the long awaited Barnett fight, although it will likely be in DREAM.
Those are the fights as a fan of Fedor that I want to see

During the contract talks Dana was OK about Sambo eventualy. In fact his exact quote was "He can go fight in sambo every f---ing Thursday night if he wants to" It's even mentioned in the article from the first post -3. They also will have to permit Fedor participating in Sambo competitions, and during our last negotiations UFC were ready for that term. The sticking point was always co-promotion. The idea that M1 got 50% of all revenues just by bring Fedor to the table. Understandably there was no way that would ever happen. Hell I doubt Zuffa would even agree to having co-branding myself. Why have UFC & M1 Present Lesnar vs. Fedor? Why put M1 in that sort of position when really for all their claims the only asset they have is Fedor's signature on a contract. |

i think that if Fedor did coem into the ufc, the best fight for him and for the ufc is if he faught Randy Couture I disagree it would be a easy win for Fedor the hype would all be in Lesner vs Fedor. That would be a must have match if Fedor goes to the ufc. |

I don't think Randy will be able to handle Fedor's standup. Fedor is one of the strongest guys in the heavyweight division, and looking at his size, that's saying something. The only way I see Randy winning is if he does what he did to Brandon Vera, and try to tire him out with wrestling, but Fedor's sambo is no joke. He used to take down 7 foot tall guys with ease.

I disagree it would be a easy win for Fedor the hype would all be in Lesner vs Fedor. That would be a must have match if Fedor goes to the ufc. Why does everyone doubt Randy? I think its because Randy is starting to look his age. Last couple of years he is 2wins 2losses, with both losses coming at Heavyweight. Plus those only wins were over a shot Coleman & a close decision over Vera. I still say in their prime Randy would have given Fedopr fits, now though I think Fedor walks through him. However from a business point of view it would be a great fight to establish Fedor to the many fans of the UFC who don't follow MMA outside the Octagon. Then set up Fedor/ brock. |

At this point, the whole back and forth thing has kind of soured me on Fedor coming to UFC. I could honestly not care less at this point. If he comes in, cool. I'll watch the fight. If he doesn't, no big deal.
