Hey there,
Im 17 years old, looking for a 4/5 seat convertible that looks good, reliable and is around the 5k or under mark. I havent got a clue about cars, just wondering if anyone on here takes interest in them and could help me out? Keeping in mind that I dont want something like a BMW E36 that looks crap and has a massive engine.
Thanks

I wasn't being a dick at all, anything but. I was simply saying that it will be incredibly hard for you to get insured on a convertible at the age of 17. But if you are hellbent on getting a convertible then you could try autotrader. Ford Streetka's are quite cheap now, can pick them up for around £4k.

You won't get a convertible and get insured on it for 4-5k and you can quote me on that, whether you think its a dickish comment or not, it wont happen.

Seems the best option IMO. Or even get a brand new Clio or something and pay in installments, by the time you pay the £5k you have on the installments you'll have more money to pay the rest of them. Or just go whole hog, loan £15k and get a Lancia Delta ![8-)](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/cool.gif) .

If you are looking for a car your not going to find one on here. Use your fooking brain and search the internet like any normal person would do. Yes this is a dickish comment but use some common sense!!
And back on topic. It cost me £2000 to insure a Pug 306 diesel when i was 20!! Good luck getting someone to insure you!!

Getting a Lancia Delta looks crap to the untrained eye though. Someone who doesn't appreciate such a car will just look at it and think "There's some fool with a crapty sported up car that cost him £500"... when in fact it's possibly the greatest rally car of all time.

Can i ask, do you have any experience driving? i don't know one person who hasnt crashed or had some form of accident in there first year of driving... do you really want to get an expensive car at this age and this point of your driving knowledge? You said it yourself, you dont know anything about cars...
Get a Convertable or whatever you want, it doesnt matter to me, just may not be the wisest investment at this point in life

My first car, the one I have now is a Clio MK1. It's literally 16 years old. It cost me £100. I crashed it tonight and the steering needs adjusting because of that. Although that is not a huge job, it could have been a lot less. I'm just glad I didn't splash out on an expensive car this early as it would have been a more expensive job. As the above poster mentioned, it would be really daft getting an expensive car for your first car. Buy a cheap first car then work your way up like most people do, it's the best option IMO.

GLC is right. You need to get a cheap, reliable, nippy car you can run into the ground and it wont set you back too much if you have any problems with it. Your more than likely to ruin the frst car you get. My New Fiesta cost £11,000 and that's already got a dodgey bumper and scratches all over it from my sh*t parking skills.
