From Josh Gross:
"Jake Shields isn't officially signed with the UFC. The money is agreed to, but the contract isn't finalized. Next week most likely."

Can't say I've ever been entertained by the guy except for the first round of his fight with Hendo. But hey, he's a new and legit addition to a division that needs challengers to GSP's belt. For that reason, I'm happy he signed. GSP's ran through everyone else.

^^^
agreed..
..I read that if GSP beats KOS and Anderson beats Sonnen(convincingly) that a fight between Silva and GSP will FINALLY happen. And that if GSP were to win against Silva that he would retire....
RETIRE....!!!!!! Is he even 30 years old yet?

Anderson still has Vitor in November. Koscheck vs. GSP will happen in December.

Vitor gets an automatic shot at Anderson even after the layoff? Unbelievable.

I believe so. Let's be honest here: There really aren't that many credible middleweights in the UFC for Anderson to face. IF he beats Sonnen AND Belfort, he'll go up to Light Heavyweight permanently.

Vitor gets an automatic shot at Anderson even after the layoff? Unbelievable. I believe they were going to give him the fight with Silva at UFC 112 but he got hurt, so he was already named the contender. And lets face it, if Silva gets by Chael, who the hell else is he going to face at 185 besides Vitor? Nate's tied up and he's beaten everyone else. Belcher's not ready yet and has the Maia fight soon.

Martin Kampmann Up For Welcoming Shields To The Octagon "We were really hoping to get that Hardy fight in England. We really wanted that fight and I don't know if it was partially Hardy, partially the England UFC, but they opted to go Condit. We lobbied hard. We felt like Hardy has been a No. 1 contender, went the distance with GSP, if we could compete favorably and even submit him, it would look great on Martin's resume, but they opted to go a different route. [The Shield’s fight] is a fight that we actually talked about in-house. Martin and I have talked about it, and Martin said he'd welcome that fight."Probably the most infamous fighter agent in the MMA game, Mr. Ken Pavia of MMAgents talks to mmaweekly radio about one of his star athletes, Martin Kampmann. Here he describes their want to face Dan Hardy and their willingness to welcome Jake Shields to the UFC. Martin once welcomed another Champion to the Octagon and ruined his coming out party as he fought Carlos Condit to a decision victory. Wonder if he would have the same result with Shield’s? I can attest that it was not Hardy who passed on Kampmann and was much more likely the UFC who opted to keep Kampmann on the shelf for a different opponent. www.bjpenn.com/profiles/blogs/martin-kampmann-up-for

I'd take Kampmann over Shields any day of the week.
Shields, in my opinion, is one of the most over-rated fighters in the world right now. Absolutely no denying that he had a fantastic 4 rounds (he got trounced in the first) against Dan Henderson in his last outing, major props for that, but I do not think he is what he is cracked up to be. His stand up game is lacking, offensively and defensively. Some people treat his ground game like he'd sub Big Nog in the blink of an eye, and it's a little ridiculous.
Any of you sticklers, feel free to quote this. If Shields impresses me against Kampmann (like he did against Henderson) I'll give him much respect, I'm just putting my personal opinion out here. I'm more hating on his hype than the man himself.

His Jiu-Jitsu is great. There isn't any denying that, but whatever.

His Jiu-Jitsu is great. There isn't any denying that, but whatever. Never said it wasn't. I disregarded the people who think he is the end all be all. He doesn't hold a candle to Jacare, Maia, and I'd probably put Leites in there as well.

Jacare, Maia or Leites hasn't beaten Okami, Daley, Sakurai, Condit, Lawler or Henderson. Jake has beaten all of those guys.

Nope. I was referring to you saying he's "Overrated".
I guess if he's overrated, all those guys are cans.

Just not excitred about his signing. IMO he is boring to watch. Don't get me wrong, I love to watch a good grounds game but I have seen three or four of his fights and he just does not excite me in the least. He is a good fighter, no denying that, just not a fan of watching him fight.
