To be honest, I'm a little puzzled why Mattel hasn't made belts yet. Considering the fact that in the WWE, the championships are supposed to be the prestige. When it comes to their action figures, they should KNOW that everyone would want small belts to play with & to display
That being said...Mattel is a huge company, and I'm sure they were more occupied with just getting the basics figured out with the line initially..it just surprises me they haven't done any belts yet.
It can't be a difficult design, a plastic strap with plastic plates. I fully expect Mattel to give us painted titles, so maybe that is the hold up where they need to create some kind of machine that will apply the paint to belt designs.
I'm not all uptight and demanding...I know we'll get them in due time, it just surprises me they didn't figure it out yet.

Mattel had the luxury of knowing what Jakks did for the last 10 years and they should have been prepared for putting out accessories that consumers had already grown accustomed to seeing. Marvel put an NWA belt around Jeff Jarrett in Series 1 of their Impact line, we had the X-Title by series 3, and all those figures came with accessories. Yes Mattel has done an amazing job but I strongly disagree with the fact that people should be patient about not having belts. Its something Mattel should have planned for knowing they were going to take on the line. I love the Elites, I think the clothes have been great, but I think you look at Elite Chris Jericho and go its not worth $15 for a microphone. He could have easily come with the WHC around his waste. Just because Mattel puts out a great product doesn't mean collectors or consumers in general don't have complaints. The overwhelming fact that Jakks had a surplus of belts when Mattel struck a deal with WWE to take over the line should have been enough for Mattel to figure it out. This is the industry standard, you have to do this, and then some. They have done plenty of "then some," but weapons/accessories/belts are a gaping hole in what should have been a basic part of the original launch planning. I personally believe they thought the 1 of 1000 belts were good enough for the time being and that FF would cover the weapons. They misjudged their market. It happens, but its not illegal to call them out on it either. while i agree with the mantra of "waiting for something good" ,you definitely make valid, and insightful,points... my thought, personally,is they weren't 100 % sure about the line...there was a LOT of backlash about Mattel getting the licence, and many a loyal JAKKS collector swore they would have nothing to do with this line...so while they didn't necessarily expect to possibly lose money with the line, part of me believes they weren't expecting it to be the 100% runaway success it has been....so they were being cautious, just getting the basics necessary to get the line going, while waiting to see if it was or wasn't successful before adding accessories, belts, and stuff like a real scale ring and PPV specific lines to the brand.... You couldn't be more wrong with well, everything. There was no backlash for Mattel getting the line. There were a few people on this board, but do you honestly think that amounts to anything in relation to how many people actually buy WWE figures? Mattel absolutely expected it to be this much of a success based on the WWE license, and their confidence in their teams to deliver a product the public wants. Cautious? 5 series of Basics, Elites & 2-packs by July, an awesome series of Legends & another one coming within a matter of weeks. There have also been Flex Force, basic rings, and kid-sized belts. I don't even understand your last point at all. Accessories have been available with Flex Force & Elites since Day One. The Real Scale Ring was developed long before January 1st of this year, and there was a ppv specific line right away. Not only that, the first poll was for the Survivor Series. Meaning they planned a 2nd ppv wave before the line was officially released. The main reason belts haven't been released yet, is Mattel has put more time into developing what they believe are more important aspects of the line. There is no one here that is going to stop buying Mattel's figures, because there aren't championship belts yet.

I personally believe they thought the 1 of 1000 belts were good enough for the time being and that FF would cover the weapons. They misjudged their market. It happens, but its not illegal to call them out on it either. At first I was with the people pointing out how long it took Jakks, that Hasbro only put out the one belt in a ring set, that the UFC line didn't have a UFC title till series 3 (the 4th set released). If I recall it took LJN a few series to come out with belts. After reading punksnotdead's post I have to admit I feel like I am wrong. The TNA Toybiz line had the belts out fast. Series 1 had the world title, series 3 had the X-Division title and the first wave of 2-packs had a tag team belt set. Mattel should have had belts planed for the first few waves, they had a year to plan it out. I feel they are either saving them for the first basic set that has no 1/1000s in it or are waiting to create an Elite series of Champions to keep the costs of basics down. Some of the Jakks belts do work and look great with the Mattel figures, some don't.

Well the Entrance Great Ted Dibiase comes with the Million Dollar belt so whenever that is released we will have our first Mattel belt.
As for current belts, I'm hoping for something to be shown at Comic-Con.

Now I seriously hopes that STOPS the comparison with Jakks having belts, and Mattel being half of a year into the line without them. Not to mention, the Championship Title Series 4-pack was released during the holiday season of LATE 1997, so it was at least a year and a half to two years before the first Jakks BCA belts were introduced. Oh, and they were never released again, so the next wave of belts (the ones with the colored straps) weren't available in boxed set form until several months later (in 1998). In fact, all of Jakks' belts until the TTL line were limited to boxed sets, so imagine how difficult it would be to find them now in stores.

They probably shouldn't have done those 1/1000 belts first. It would have made more sense to make the actual title belts they use.

I remember getting the CTS#1 boxed set on Christmas Day 1997, so it wouldn't surprise me if many others had to wait until then, too, but I am aware of that. I've heard claims of Superstars Series 1 being released as early as 1995, but I can never be too sure. As for the rest of what you said, it's like preaching to the choir lol but it is a good summary for those that didn't know. Don't forget the Championship Title Series #2 (Austin - one and only BCA Smoking Skull title, Rock, X-Pac, Kane), Hardcore Champions (Mankind, Bossman, Snow, Holly), and the Total Attitude Grapple Gear boxed set with belts included.

i've heard of the 1995 release too,but the only thing i can say, definitively, was the first time i saw them was at a live event at the CYC in Scranton,PA. in the summer of 1996,and they had all 6 there (HBK,Hitman,Diesel,Razor,Undertaker, and Goldust)...i remember being surprised,as i had no idea they were making figures again, and picked up my first Jakks figure that night - Bret Hart...then about a month later or so they started showing up at K-B Toys here in town.... now,i know they had a line of WWF Bend-Em's that started coming out in 1995...funny story (and you guys will laugh at me for this) ,but the first one i bought was Diesel, and i remember it well because i was heavily into Nash as WWF Champ at the time, and i picked it up the same day as they had a concert here called "Buzzstock" ( main attraction - Warrant...yep,gotta love the 90's!) that i went to,AND my first girlfriend broke up with me...but,somehow,that little Diesel bendie made it all better...well,that and a fifth of Jack Daniels... i know the first box-set with belts came out definitely before Christmas,as i remember being happy to be able to put the Tag Belts on the LOD figures,as they had just won the titles (and they only held the belts for like a month between November and December 1997,before losing them to the New Age Outlaws).... the second set i also vividly remember as November of 1998 as i ran out to TRU to get them because i really wanted those NAO and newly face Rock figures (of course, the face turn wouldn't last long...) ,and then got in a car crash that totalled my car and injured my head and spine on the way home... funnily enough, the next day,at the garage,i think i was more worried about whether the package was still in the trunk more than i was my health or destroyed car! LOL

Maybe Mattel is trying to see if it would be affordable to make metal belts like the 1/500 straight off the bat and not release plastic. Maybe they are figuring ways out to make belts better. I don't really mind the wait though.

The only belts i am really concerned with myself are the classic belts
Classic WWF winged worlds title Classic IC (Black, yellow, blue, and white straps) WWF tag Titles Attitude Era World Title Attitude IC with purple strap Smoking Skull belt WWE Undisputed ECW European Cruiserweight Light heavyweight Classics woman Hardcore Title
Stuff like that. But honestly I thought they would have had todays modern world titles out for figures by now. Hopefully we will see some soon.

When I get that Basic 7 McCool... she's just not going to look right without the Women's Title... and I HATE the Jakks version.

Ok, I normally agree with the POV of not rushing something out...but the truth and fact of the matter is, Mattel knew over a year ago they were getting the WWE contract. How is something as significant as the WWE belts not something on their priority list? Yes the Jakks belts do work great. However, I myself am interested in the release of Mattel belts in hopes of more detailed, and fully colored belts. Its kinda sad that almost 2/3 of the way into their first year, they have yet to address the title situation.
