I dont understand why people do this or how a store takes them back seeing as they had tape on the bottom. Stores in the US seem very lazy with stuff like this. Well alot of retail employees here in the states feel their jobs are demeaning and lower class work so they don't give a crap. Add to it that places like Wal-Mart, K-Mart and Target can only account 5% of their yearly profits to toys so they as a whole don't care. Toys R Us has the strictest return policies I have had to deal with, if it's unopened you have to provide a receipt and usually the clerks look over the packaging here. If it has been opened you have to show the defect and provide a receipt from the past 30 days. Personally I don't get why people get mad over someone doing this. It is wrong and shows the laziness of the stores but they are just figures and its not like any of these are rare.

Man, I need to get a job at TRU to make sure this doesn't happen at ours. Though I've never seen it happen personally.
It's just ridiculous that people don't pay any attention to such things.

First off it's not just toys they do this with and most Customer Service employees at stores like Target or WalMart don't know anything about toys or most other product in the store so they wouldn't know if it was switched or not secondly most stores have the whole "customer is always right" polocy.
And threehgame the problem is it's stealing and why should some kid or collector have to get screwed because someone is too cheap to buy a figure? 99% of the time these things find their way back on the shelves so that means more than likely someone is going to come in to get that figure only to see it's not a figure they wanted. So they leave it on the pegs where the figures just sit there collecting dust giving a false inventory where no new product is ordered/put out. Or some parent/grandparet buy it for their kids/grandkids thinking it's the figure they wanted only to find out it was some old used toy that was switched. I've said it before and I'll say it again as far as I'm concerned the people who do this are lowlife scum and they deserve everything bad that happens to them in life.

It's just ridiculous that people don't pay any attention to such things. It has been explained in this thread a few times that employees aren't necessarily collectors. Would you know if one barbie had been swapped with another similar doll? I sure wouldn't.

I had the unfortunate luck of getting stuck by this sort of thing. Although not with wrestling figures. Last year I had my gf stop in at walmart to pick me up a GI Joe Resolute multipack that had gone on clearance for 10 bucks. I was at work and couldn't go myself. Anyway she called to let me know she got the last one they had. So I get home only to discover every figure in the pack had been switched with those knock off Corps figures. I took the pack bak to wally world and explained the problem. They refunded my money and put it right back on the shelf for someone else to get jipped with. Bottom line is the retailers could care less.

I had a dream last night that I was in Toys R Us and someone had done switches like this, but they'd also left a bunch of awesome customs loose that I really wanted but had no idea how to obtain them. Should I have just taken them, or gone to the counter and said "I want to buy these but they have no packaging?" I don't know. I woke up before then.

Sad thing is, the world is full of scum. People who lie, cheat, and steal, and not it the cool Eddy Guerrero way. I've always wanted to punch a switcher in the face, whether it's an obese 30 year old or an obnoxious 12 year old.

I guess I've been lucky to have not come across something like this where I live but there's not to many people looking for Mattel figures or do care.

Most stores don't realize or pay attention. I saw one or 2 switches at TRU which was weird b/c i returned a Mcfarlane NFL figure that broke and the girl looked the package up and down and asked me why i returned it (it broke), do i want a replacement, and she said she had to make sure it was the right figure in there b/c people were switching them with other ones and returning htem.

I have not seen any switched figures in any stores by me. A while back i returned a cs shockmaster because i got two of them for my birthday. The lady gave me store credit without even looking at the receipt.

I hate Jakks con artists. Theyre so jealous that Mattel is making so much better of figs that they can't stand it so they basically trade in their old collection for the new ones. Its bull crap but the worst part is these are probably the same idiots that said they wouldn't be hopping on the Mattel train, but now look at them... Pathetic. LOL you cant be serious. If Hasbro figures were the same size as Mattel they would do it for that. This has NOTHING to do with a Jakks/Mattel war, its simply people wanting new figures. "Collectors" have been doing this for YEARS. Grow up.

It must take big cojones to return those. I wouldn't be game to take the risk of being busted.
But they are definitely two of the most convincing swaps I have seen. Most are usually atrocious. Kudos to the swapper for getting away with it. Next time he or she might not be so lucky...

Wow, what a total piece of crap. What's next? Switch up a Hasbro Jake Roberts for the Series 2 Legends version that's going to come out?

Yes I said it and yes I meant it. A couple years back one of my daughter's friends got a switcharoo for her birthday and her father felt so bad he went out to return/replace it. And while he was out he was in an accident when his car was hit by someone who ran a red light. So yes because some lowlife cheap @$$ piece of cr@p couldn't afford a toy and had to pull a switch... This family almost lost their father because he was out on a trip he wouldn't have been on had it not been for the switch. And that's the last I'm going to say about this.
