Were the New Age Outlaws ever made in pre dX attires? I dont think so. I think the first version was the signature version? Chicago will definitely know. I dont even know why I bother. That man is an encyclopedia on these haha

I think the NAO came out in a 2 Tuff pack first, because I couldn't find that thing ANYWHERE and had to wait for the signature series ones. Also, I got outbid on another Yokozuna tonight and I'm not happy about it at all.

I think the 2Tuff Tag pack was first. Billy had the B.A trunks which aren't technically DX attire, but Road Dogg had a white DX shirt. It would be very easy to just paint it entirely white and he'd have his pre-DX look.

I personally would have loved to have seen a) Billy Gunn in his pre-signature shorts, blue long pants look and b) Jakks take on not expressly using the South Park shirts while still attempting to replicate them.

Probably timing. He seems like such an ingrained piece of furniture for time that timeframe, but his '97 run only lasted from the tail end of April 'til the beginning of December. That and his contract status (being paid per appearance in '97) are the main reasons why I believe Jim Neidhart never got a BCA figure. Thankfully, Jakks made up for it later with his Classic Superstars figures. I've seen great Anvil customs over the years (especially from ellisd), but I don't think I've ever seen anyone attempt a commemorative BCA Hart Foundation set. With or without Pillman, this would be the centerpiece of my collection. I'd even settle for the crappy Best of '97 pleather vests instead of jackets. Thanks dude. Unfortunately since Photobucket started being so uncooperative last year I had to snapshot my custom photos from there, so the photo quality isn’t as good as I’d like. Also looks like I’m advertising for Lowe’s lol.

New Age Outlaws BCA figures were supposed to be first to stores in the 2 Tuff Series 2 2-Pack; however, Jakks shipments across the U.S. experienced significant delays in the fall of '98 which meant some stores likely received Signature Series 2 at the same time, if not sooner. To be specific, this was in late September/early October '98. TRU's Off The Mat 4-Pack was released later in November '98.

Me and a friend rode our bikes down to TRU the day after Christmas that year to spend our Christmas money. For reference, I live in four season climate area, and the TRU in town was the equivalent of six highway exits from my house, but by the day's end I had me a brand new Off the Mat set. My brother and I were just talking about that today, specifically my complaint yesterday about the belts being listed as "rare". As a kid, they were great because they were what I could get, but in retrospect, those belts are awful. I'm on an absolute molded belt kick right now - I want as many sets of the first BCA ones as possible, and at least one of each of the OSFTM ECW ones.

Thanks. I’m planning on trying to remake one soon. Unfortunately I was stupid and sold these years ago.

ellisd - if you don't mind my asking, what brand/type of paint did you use for your customs? Years ago as a kid, I went off the basic direction of "use acrylic" on some old Jakks BCAs, and it never turned out to my liking, but those three figures are all flea market specials up this way, and I'd really like to take a crack at that Neidhart recipe sometime as it's too perfect to not try.

I actually just use the cheap paints that you find at WalMart and Hobby Lobby, usually Apple Barrel brand. I think at the time I did these I was using the Painters paint markers too.

Thanks. I’m planning on trying to remake one soon. Unfortunately I was stupid and sold these years ago. Ahh, well I just hope you got a good payday for those. If you do recreate them, please share them! I honestly can’t remember how much I got for them. I didn’t make them to sell. At some point I thought that I didn’t really need my BCAs anymore, because Jakks we’re doing the Classic Superstars figures. I guess because of the more articulation and real scan of the Classic Superstars, I could just replace my BCAs and just collect them. I kept a small group of my BCAs. Since then I moved on to Mattels instead of the Classic Superstars, and I realized that the BCAs , although not as articulated and everything as the newer figures, have a charm to them that the others lack. Some people love the LJNs and some love the Hasbros, but for me, I love the Bone Crunchers. So many memories with them. Yeah, if I ever get around to doing them I’ll definitely share them with the thread.

Yeah, I'm the same way when it comes to Hasbros and LJNs. The BCAs instantly take me back to my childhood.
