The Dr. Death crotch piece is the same as Mark Henry's. Other than the head, Dr. Death is a full figure repaint of Henry. That's why he was wearing a weird wifebeater that he never wore. Dunno if you had extra pieces around or didn't have Doc's crotch for some reason.

Great retrospectives. Congrats on getting this thread to 200 pages too. Thanks. It's been a team effort, though I've probably spammed this thing up the page more than a few times. Seeing the cape and detail with blue blazer makes you wonder how a $4.96 price point was ever possible. It surprises me, too. Then again, Jakks didn't have to conceive any new molds for Blue Blazer except for the cape. Part of me wonders if Blazer wasn't originally scheduled for the Superstars line, which might explain the extra detail. Got a few more customs I completed that I wanted to share! There is so much potential for current day WWE BCA customs, and thankfully you've tapped into some of it here. I especially like how Sheamus and ADR's heads match the skin tone. Keep up the great work. I was randomly browsing Craigslist and I saw a MOC BCA Razor Ramon and Diesel 2pack for $100. Is the seller out of his mind with that price? $100 seems a little outrageous for a BCA 2pack No, he's just stuck in the late '90s. According to recent completed figure listings on eBay, it seems an acceptable price for the MOC 2-pack would be $35-40.

Yea, I know Henry /Dr Death are of the same mold, but I used Henry's crotch piece because it was already black....no need to paint over Dr Deaths red trunks. I believe their arms were different, too.

That they were. Dr. Death's arms are a different mold from Mark Henry's arms. I was randomly browsing Craigslist and I saw a MOC BCA Razor Ramon and Diesel 2pack for $100. Speaking of Jakks figure prices in the late '90s, I recently bought two back issues of White's Guide To Collecting Figures and I thought I would scan in a few of the pages to share with everyone here. The first issue that I've scanned (#28 from April 1997) briefly mentions Playmates WWF products on display at Toy Fair 1997 with nothing about the latest Jakks figures. Superstars Series 1 is gone from stores by early 1997, but look out for Series 2 and the Survivor Series 4-pack if you get the chance (well, not anymore). All this talk about Superstars Series 2 and White's Guide includes a MOC picture of Series 3 Shawn Michaels on the very next page. Go figure. It's time for the monthly price guide, and Jakks is able to muster up a few estimated values for Superstars Series 1 and 2, Razor vs. Diesel, and the Survivor Series 4-pack. The second issue that I've scanned (#53 from May 1999) prominently features Jakks figures on the cover, yet once again nothing about the latest figures appear in the pages within, except for Toy Biz's WCW line. Skipping ahead to the price guide section and we see that Jakks has grown quite a bit since those early days.

Jakks Pacific previewed its newest line of WWF toys at the 96th annual American International Toy Fair in New York City during the week of February 8-12, 1999. In the days leading up to the event, Jakks announced plans to launch a new line of interactive wrestling figures. There were expectations and inevitable disappointments surrounding the showcase. Let's take a look back at coverage of Toy Fair 1999, courtesy of Tomart's Action Figure Digest, and judge for yourself whether or not Jakks was able to hang with the "Big Boys" of the action figure industry. Tomart’s Action Figure Digest #61 (February 1999):“ Toy Biz is focusing mainly on WCW, and Jakks is hanging in with WWF.” The emergence of Toy Biz’s WCW line “ will [undoubtedly] hurt” WWF sales in 1999. WWF finishes second in figure sales for November 1998. WCW finished 10th. “ Wrestling was probably the only category which increased in collector strength.” WWF finishes 13th in the category of Most Popular Action Figure Lines for 1998, sandwiched between Star Trek and Spider-Man. The WWF Attitude Wrestling Ring finishes 9th in the category of Best Vehicle, Playset, or Accessory for 1998, which is just one spot ahead of the Commentator Central playset from Grapple Gear Series 1. WCW (#2) and WWF (#3) claim two of the top three spots in the category of Least Interesting Action Figure Lines for 1998. As is often the case, the lines which are most popular with kids do not resonate in the same way with adult collectors who read these magazines. For more on Toy Biz’s WCW figure line for the year 1999, check out these six page scans: i3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD61February1999Page30.jpgi3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD61February1999Page31.jpgi3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD61February1999Page32.jpgi3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD61February1999Page33.jpgi3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD61February1999Page34.jpgi3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD61February1999Page35.jpgTomart’s Action Figure Digest #62 (March 1999):“ Jakks is putting up a strong defense against the new WCW figures from Toy Biz.
Both pro wrestling organizations provided massive personality appearances in support of their licenses.” Some of the biggest names in professional wrestling made personal appearances at Toy Fair in support of the Jakks WWF and Toy Biz WCW figure lines. WWF finishes third in figure sales for December 1998. WCW finished 8th. The two major highlights of the Jakks showroom at Toy Fair 1999 were the “Sweating Superstars” (a.k.a. Maximum Sweat) and Internet-active “Wired” figures. “ Special WWF/Jakks Pacific logo wrist sweatbands were given away at the Jakks Toy Fair showroom.” Also on display: New Brawl-4-All Mini Rings playsets and WWF Bangers dolls. The best Toy Fair scan of the lot (in my opinion) showcases new packaging for the Jakks BCA figures and an early prototype of the Titan Tron Live entrance playset. Also, check out the Stone Cold Steve Austin prototype for the Federation Fighters 12” line. Toy Fair coverage continues with WWF Attitude Racing cars and MOC pictures of newly-released figures for Fully Loaded and Superstars Series 7. Without a doubt, Toy Fair 1999 was loaded with the greatest collection of wrestling talent brought together for the sole purpose of promoting toys. Tomart’s Action Figure Digest #63 (April 1999):“ Count on both Jakks and Toy Biz to add new entries for the Fall selling season.” Terry Lattimer, a.k.a. the designer/sculptor behind BCA figures, introduces his latest concept for multi-articulated Mortal Kombat figures. In other news, 1999 is expected to be the year of Star Wars Episode I, Wrestling, and Super Heroes figures. Video game properties are hot, too. WWF finishes third in figure sales for January 1999. WCW finished 8th. For more on Terry Lattimer’s Mortal Kombat line, check out these two page scans: i3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD63April1999Page18.jpgi3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD63April1999Page19.jpgFor more on Toy Biz’s WCW figure line for the year 1999, check out these two additional page scans: i3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD63April1999Page54.jpgi3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD63April1999Page55.jpgI'll have two more issues of Tomart's to share in the near future, so stay tuned for those.

Went through this thread a bit, makes me want to start collecting again.
I still have a Ken Shamrock Signature Series BCA MOC.
I did have the Holly/Snow pack mock but the carding became too bad and had to open them. Also happened with my other Al Snow. purple and black singlet, came with head and a stool...cant remember the series.

I did have the Holly/Snow pack mock but the carding became too bad and had to open them. Also happened with my other Al Snow. purple and black singlet, came with head and a stool...cant remember the series. That would be the Fully Loaded Series 1 Al Snow figure. I've had to open a few MOC figures over the years for those same reasons. I rarely collect any MOC figures unless they are doubles and I don't know what to do with them. Boxed sets and playsets are obviously an exception. Earlier this year, I opened several doubles that I owned of a variety of BCA figures from Jerry "The King" Lawler to Viscera. I didn't plan on selling them anytime soon, so I opted to keep them for myself and mix in with the rest of my loose BCA figure collection. I'm a bit biased on the subject, but collecting the line again has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I don't really do much of anything with them, but just knowing that at any time I could pleases me. Honestly, I could still be content just in researching the history of the figures online or in print, but there's something about holding them in your hands and thinking of all the ways that you could implement them into an Attitude Era-themed figure fed that makes it all worthwhile. I will say that collecting them to the level of a hardcore collector can be a daunting task, but of all the major Jakks lines that there are to collect, Bone Crunching figures have to be the most accessible and the most affordable of them all. So, why not, you know?

I still have two back issues of Tomart's Action Figure Digest left to share with you all, so I figured I would do it as soon as possible. Here is all of the relevant Jakks information to be found in Tomart's during the early summer months of 1999. Side note: Speaking of summer, did anyone else play with their BCA figures in or around a swimming pool? I did, and I had loads of fun watching them with my swimming goggles on as they crashed through the surface and slowly descended to the bottom of our five-foot deep, above-ground swimming pool. Who knew these clunky and cartoonish sculpts could look so graceful under water? Tomart's Action Figure Digest #64 (May 1999):WWF finishes first in figure sales for February 1999. WCW finished 9th. " Wrestlemania XV marks the last major wrestling toy assault prior to the release of Star Wars: Episode I." Tomart's Action Figure Digest #65 (July 1999)" New WWF and WCW items are beginning to flow to the shelves..." Wrestling figures from both Jakks Pacific and Toy Biz are said to be holding fan interest. " Virtually every major retail chain has exclusive WWF product, enabling Jakks to hold an edge over Toy Biz's WCW offerings." Also, WWF and WCW claim the top two spots (respectively) in figure sales for March 1999. " The summer months promise to be packed with even more WWF product, with new releases staggered every few weeks.
As usual, much of the new product will be repainted versions of earlier figures, but there will be several lines which will feature completely new sculpts." For more on Toy Biz’s WCW figure line in Summer 1999, check out this page scan: i3.photobucket.com/albums/y61/tmac152303/Back%20Carding%20Scans/TomartsAFD65July1999Page56.jpg

That D'Lo Brown with Vader body has always bothered me, I love the attire choice but Vader? lol It was an odd choice but for some reason was one of my favorites to play with. But then again I loved playing with the BCA Vader too. So that's probably why. Chicago: i thought I would share this. I just recently added 2 of my favorite BCA figures back to my collection. Both of these seem to be a little harder to find, probably due to the fact that they were in one of the later series. I really want to open them and probably will but I'm having a hard time talking myself in to opening Edge because he's signed. Also, I noticed something odd about the Triple H. He was a Family Dollar price tag on him. I thought this line was a Kay Bee Toys exclusive. Any info on this, Chicago: ?

The Backlash Series was sold at both KB Toys and Family Dollar department stores in the early 2000's. Nothing unusual about that, but it is cool that you got a hold of a signed Edge figure. Regardless of what you end up doing with it, just know that you bought the best versions of Edge and Triple H in the BCA line, in my opinion. Here's a picture of the complete MOC set of Backlash Superstars Series 3, which was released to stores in March 2001.

Wow, didn't know that Family Dollar sold Backlash figures. I would have stopped at more of their stores. Yeah, I think I first learned this about the Backlash figures while researching the line about two years ago. By the way, as it turns out, the original BCA Backlash Series figures were also available at Family Dollar Dept. Stores in the Northeast U.S. from 2000-01. News broke of the Backlash line in early June of 2000. Reports indicated these figures were going to utilize the Real Scan technology of the time. All of the original BCA Backlash Series figures were produced in limited quantities, though I don't know any exact numbers. They were generally discounted to $3.99 (from $5.99) at KB Toys stores for most of their shelf life. Here's a link to a Figure Zone report of the Series 3 figures showing up at KB Toys stores. I previously mentioned March 2001 as the release date, as that's what I have always heard, but the link suggests mid-to-late February 2001.

Absolutely loved the BCA line. As everyone knows after Hasbro left there was a gap that needed to be filled. I collected and played with Bend-Ems but they weren't that fun to play with. BCA came out and it was on! Played pretty much every night! Still have my notebooks from my play fed. Still have Blue Blazer MOC.
edit: oh and I loved the way they smelled fresh out the package!

I got something new in the mail today from Amazon. It is the Ken Shamrock vs. Dan Severn Grudge Match Series 2-pack, which was released to stores in October 1998. Ken Shamrock is a re-release of his Superstars Series 5 debut Jakks figure. This figure can also be found in Best of '97 Series 2 (TRU exclusive) and Special Edition Series 3 (KB Toys exclusive). Dan Severn is the debut release of his BCA figure, which also appeared later in Best of '98 Series 2 (TRU exclusive) and Special Edition Series 3 (KB Toys exclusive).

Now we just need Bret Hart's head on a Goldust body and we'll be all set for Bizarro Superstars Series 1. Credit: eBay for those two monstrosities.
