I stopped collecting Jakks figures as soon as I found out they were losing the WWE license and Mattel was taking over. I sold every single one of my Jakks figures and haven't looked back since. When the Mattel figures first came out, I was amazed. These were the best wrestling figures ever made. I was collecting both Basics and Elites but it got kind of expensive so I sold my Mattel collection, not because I didn't like them but because it was getting hard to keep up. However, after seeing all those astounding images from SDCC, I couldn't resist, I had to start collecting Mattel's again. This time I only collect Elites and Basic Divas. These figures are just pure awesomeness, I wish Mattel had been making WWE figures since 2004. I wanted to collect Jakks TNA figures too, but I see way too many similarities between the TNA figures and the Jakks WWE figures. Horrible scale, no new molds, final products being different from the protos, constant inaccuracies, and weird looking bodies. Just to name a few of Jakks flaws. Jakks can go suck it, if they want to keep making garbage figures than they won't get a dime from me, which is fine because I'd rather be spending my money on Mattel's Masterpieces than Jakks crap. Sorry if this turned into a Jakks rant, it just pisses me off because I want to collect TNA figures in addition to WWE, but I refuse to pay for terrible figures. Basically, I collect because we're finally getting good wrestling figures.

the feeling of getting a figure is awesome... also i animate not that well :/ and my friends come to my house and always say 'wow you've got stacks' so that makes me want to get more. and as a 13yr old i have nothing else to spend it on besides hanging out with friends.

Do you collect due to a nostalgic feeling, or that you are a big wrestling fan (and you collect merch)? Do you like to play/animate/fed with them? Do you collect because you always have and you feel obliged to, to keep up the collection?Do you see people buy them on this board, and does this make you want to have some yourself? Do you enjoy having and setting up a displayed collection? Do you feel that getting rare figures means you could make a profit in the future? All the reasons above are why I collect. I dont think I could suddenly stop collecting

flairboy thanks for sharing those awesome stories. I've been a huge wrestling fan all of my life, a connoisseur of its' history, and thanks to the internet, a complete mark for backstage news. I've always dreamed of contributing my talents (Marketing/HR) to the industry but it's never come to fruition.
Back in the 80s I disassembled my LJN ring and customized a smaller version for my G.I. Joe collection. See I had about 6 LJNs, but I had 50+ joes which made for a much bigger roster. I created a board game (do kids know what this these days?) of cut-outs of faces from kayfabe Aptner magazines and a checker board - hours of fun - 6 years of fun infact!
I've always had a passion for wrestling but toy companies never got it quite right...until Mattel. These are absolutely the BEST wrestling figures ever made. I'm sticking to the Legends line because the quality is amazing and the nostalgia is incredible!!! I'm excited to think that in a few short months I can display Kevin Von Erich performing the claw on Kamala circa WCCW!!!! Thank you Mattel!!!

I collect them because I'm a big wrestling fan and I love toys, but now I collect them for my animated show on YouTube, Crash Collision Wrestling®. Because my show was one of the best things I did with my life, I continue to buy figures to keep it going to entertain those around the world who enjoy it. Now I am doing it on a professional level for Jakks and and have an internship at TNA because of my work.
So I won't stop collecting wrestling figures because it's something I've come to cherish since I was young and it's helped me get the opportunities I'm very appreciative for today. Don't let people get in the way of your collecting if it's something that you enjoy!

Wrestling fan + toy fan= wrestling toy fan. Sums it up for me as well. I just want a figure of a wrestler I like or multiple figures of the same wrestler if I am a really big fan of the guy. On other occasions, I would buy a figure of a wrestler if it looks really good, even though I may not be a fan of the guy.

I display mine sometimes but I also play with them. Im 24 now but Ive played with wrestling figs since the BCA days. Call me a loser, but Ive had a lot of fun. I have to put my creative imagination to use somehow. High five! I'm also 24. Everything you said goes for me as well. I don't think I could stop as I truly love collecting. But, I don't buy too much anymore. Just ones I really like.

I have been collecting action figures since 1993 (age 12).
Thats what eventually lead me to wrestling. I saw a Stephanie McMahon figure, bought it & started watching wrestling.
Why do I collect? It keeps me occupied.

I collect because I love wrestling and action figures. When I was younger I had a great many Jakks figures, and when I got back into wrestling big in 2008, I would buy the occasional figure of guys I like, but noticed a lot of flaws in the figures. Once I heard that the WWE line was being taken over, I decided to check them out and on January 1st I purchased all of Elite 1. I haven't looked back since, as each new line is more impressive than the last.

I only collect figures of wrestling legends that have positively inspired me. I did once collect MOC Hogan figures, but over the past few years he's proven himself to be an irresponsible person, and a compulsive liar... and so now I'm only collecting figures of Ultimate Warrior. I'm also very much inspired by the stern principles and incredible self-discipline of the man, Warrior, and so collecting figures of the wrestling persona that he created and made famous is something that I'm proud of God bless.

I've been a fan of the WWE for 20 years. The figures have been a part of my life the entire time.
I love wrestling, and I love the hobby.
