Do any stores usually sell the special editions of games months after release? For example, could I get the Hardened edition of MW3 2-3 months after November? As much as I love this deal, Batman and Assassin's Creed are my top 2 games to get this holiday.

My local Best Buy has the prestige editions of Blops marked down to around $75, they still have 8 or so of them. I can't believe people paid $150 for the game and a toy car.

So, guys, to make a long story short: I decided to go for broke and launch my own website, and a large portion of it will be video game related. This is the first piece I've written about video games in years, and I'd like to share it with ya'll. Feedback and comments are much appreciated, and if you would be so inclined as to go to fightgameblog.net to check out the actual piece, that'd be much appreciated too. So here it is! (Hyperlinks omitted because I'm lazy as .) ----- The Latest On Modern Warfare 3: Spec Ops Should Be Fantastic, But "Hardened Edition" Is A Definite MissAs a newbie-turned-fanboy of Call of Duty that bought into the worldwide phenomenon thanks to the non-stop pestering of his friends constantly yelling at him to buy Modern Warfare 2, I’m very excited for Modern Warfare 3. As a player that loves co-op, I’m particularly excited for the return of Spec Ops Mode in MW3. And as a penny-pincher, I’m also keeping a close eye on “special editions” of MW3 to see if their special add-ons are worthy of their inflated price points. Today I get to talk about all of that and more, thanks to some new information on both MW3’s Spec Ops Mode and its “Hardened Edition”. First up, we head to Kotaku for some interesting new details on Spec Ops Mode. Here’s some of the highlights of author Brian Crecente’s recent journey into the mode, playing with Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling: “Death can come to the two players one at a time, but typically it's sudden and bunched up… By level ten you're facing off against helicopters, body-armored strike teams and attack dogs… Paris is a tiny circular map of winding, interconnected streets, balconies, stairs and a few interior locations.” In addition to that, Kotaku also reports on a leaked image detailing what fans who purchase the “Hardened Edition” of Modern Warfare 3 will be getting. You can see the image for yourself here, but here’s a basic round-up of what you get. First off, you’ll of course be getting the game, except this version of the game will boast “unique disc art”. You also get a 1-year subscription to the “Call of Duty Elite” service, which will include future DLC’s to be released for the game. You get “special founder status” on the Elite service as well, which will give you access to things like exclusive emblems, playercards, and weapon camouflage. You get a “premium, collectible steelbook case” as well. If you buy the PlayStation version, you get a free PSN theme. If you buy the 360 version, you get a free Juggernaut outfit for your Xbox Live avatar. Finally, you’ll also get a “collectible field journal” that clocks in at over 100 pages. As an aforementioned lifelong fan of co-op games, I’m pretty pumped for the return of Spec Ops. Unlike most sequels, MW3’s Spec Ops mode doesn’t just feel like a bigger, better, updated version of the previous game’s mode. Instead, it seems to be a complete reinvention of the mode altogether. The ability to buy and upgrade weapons, equipment, and all kinds of other things should really add to the replayability of the game. Some of MW2’s Spec Ops levels were real rage-inducers (don’t even get me started on those freaking Juggernaut levels), but it looks like MW3 will strike a real balance between all-out insanity and tight teamwork. I’ll be honest: I didn’t give much thought to MW2’s Spec Ops modes after beating them all on Veteran. But for MW3, I have a strong feeling that Specs Ops will take up as much time as the core multiplayer, so long as it lives up to its hype. In regards to the “Hardened Edition”, I’m just not that impressed. It definitely has some cool stuff, but I have been and always will be a cheap gamer. Perhaps this has something to do with me being completely unimpressed with the whole “Call of Duty Elite” system. It does have some interesting features, but most of it just feels like stat management and rankings and all that. I’ve also never been all that excited over what I consider “novelty goodies” like a bookcase or a field journal. But in the end, I can’t wait to wrap my hands around Modern Warfare 3… the regular edition, of course. -----

Interesting read PdW2kX, I agree and I will not be getting Hardened of MW3.
After playing MW2 this past week, and buying the map packs at a discounted price, I can honestly say Black Ops is the better game. I always had thought that but may of my friends disagree. MW2 can be fun but I feel there is more down time where I am spawning and getting nothing but noob-tubed or whatnot. Where as to Black Ops, even if I die in that game. It's more of a stisfying death that a player got the better of me. And Didn't resort to some cheap tatic.

Don't know if this was already posted or not but heres a video showing the MW3 Multiplayer Menu at CoD XP, though it's kinda bad quality. But also it confirms that MW3 can support up to 32 players in a match.

Could be showing the PC version.
Edit: Unless that icon is the 360's A button.

Maybe it's the PC version with an Xbox 360 controller connected to the PC?

Black Ops was much better than MW2, but MW2 was a lot better in fun, and it kept me entertained. Could be showing the PC version. Edit: Unless that icon is the 360's A button. The 'Back' icon is red, so I'm assuming yeah, it's XBOX.

And here's my own recap and reaction to all the new info. Cheap plug: read all this and more at fightgameblog.net!
Now, in my opinion, this gets me even more excited for Modern Warfare 3. It’s been said that most Call of Duty games have a “honeymoon period” where everyone gets super-excited and loves to hear anything and everything concerning the next game, and I think this new information officially puts us into that period.
I’m very hyped for this game, and now more than ever I know that it’s going to be a day-one purchase for me.
The realist in me knows that some of my fanboyishness is shining through on this one, and that no game is perfect. In fact, the Call of Duty series in particular is known for some of its super-aggravating multiplayer problems.
Nevertheless, it looks like Modern Warfare 3 will be a huge step forward in the evolution of the Call of Duty franchise.

If I understand correctly from what I read, a 1-year Elite Premium membership will be included in the Hardened edition of MW3. So does that mean that buying the Hardened edition and using that Elite Premium membership will net you all the DLC for it at no additional cost down the line? If so, that's a great deal assuming the Hardened edition isn't overpriced.

I love MW2 and everything, but this looks exactly like it. I just wish the graphics was updated and sounds for the guns and such is the exact same. I can understand why some people would say this is MW2.5 or a rehash. This game will still outsell BF3, but I think BF3 will be the better game.

With so many other good games coming out from now until the end of the year, ill likely pass for a while. I don't want to spend money on Call of Duty anymore, as I think they aren't really worth full retail price given how similar they are each year, so I'm going to see if someone will get me this for Christmas, that way I don't have to pay for it.

I will have $70 in credit from amazon.com once all my pre-orders ship so I might get it with that. That or I will save that for an extra title next year.
