Journal Entry #3: Mr. Pokemon and the Pokedex!Route 30 Friday Day, 11:20 So after stopping very quickly at the Pokemon Center in Cherrygrove, I continue my journey to Mr. Pokemon's house. Straight into Route 30, there is a lot of tall grass. Hoping to possibly run into something more interesting than a Sentret, I eagerly enter the grass. However, I only ran into 2 Pokemon my entire journey to Mr. Pokemon's house. A Weedle and a Pidgey. Go figure. Something really awesome did happen during one of these battles though. Wild Weedle Appeared! Go! Cyndaquil!Cyndaquil used Tackle! Weedle used Poison Sting! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Weedle used String Shot! Cyndaquil's Speed Fell!Weedle used String Shot! Cyndaquil's Speed Fell!Cyndaquil used Tackle! Weedle Fainted! Cyndaquil Grew to Level 6!Cyndaquil learned Smokescreen! So not only did I level up my first Pokemon, but I also got it to learn its first new move! Not that I really like the move Smokescreen, or plan on using it for that matter, its just cool that I got it to learn it. The idea of me being a Pokemon trainer was finally beginning to settle in, and I loved the feeling of being in charge of such powerful creatures as Pokemon. As I continued my trek to the house of Mr. Pokemon, I come upon yet another berry tree next to the house. I quickly picked the berry, thinking of the benefits it could have in the future. I heard of there being a Berry Master in the area, so I figured this must be his house. Entering the house, there was a very nice man who welcomed me. He introduced himself as the Berry Master and gave me yet another berry. I was delighted with this discovery, and he told me to come back whenever I wanted to. So after leaving the Berry Master's house, I continued my trek north to see Mr. Pokemon. I come upon this strange Pokeball just laying in the road. I pick it up, and what do you know, its an antidote. I'll have to keep this in mind for future reference, Pokeballs laying randomly in the road contain items that can help me. I put the antidote in my bag and keep walking. I come upon a sign. It says "Pokemon Researcher Mr. Pokemon, straight ahead." I know I must be going in the right direction when I see this. So I keep going, and I see another one of those strange bushes I was talking about. I'm gonna have to figure out how to clear those things eventually. After that, I see a light at the end of the tunnel. The house of Mr. Pokemon is right in front of me! I enter, and see not one, but two men doing some research. The first man approaches me and says that I must be the young man that Professor Elm sent for him. He introduces himself as Mr. Pokemon and says that he is glad to see me. He says that he thinks that he could have made a huge discover in the world of Pokemon and he wants to discuss it with the leader in Pokemon evolution to confirm it. He then hands me this strange Mystery Egg and explains that the people who work at the Pokemon Day Care nearby found it and couldn't explain where it came from. Mr. Pokemon tells me to bring that back to Professor Elm as soon as possible. I stick the egg in my bag. Right when I am about to leave, the second man stops me and introduces himself as none other than Professor Oak. Oak is one of the greatest Pokemon researchers in all of the world, specifically the Kanto region. Oak looks at me and my Cyndaquil and tells me that I have a lot of potential as a Pokemon trainer, which really gives me a great feeling. He then asks me if I truly want to be a Pokemon master, to which I eagerly reply by saying yes. He then asks me if I would like to help him get a log of every single Pokemon in the Johto and Kanto regions. He shows me this device, which he calls a Pokedex. He says that he wants me to go around the two regions and record as much information about every single Pokemon that I possibly can. I look at him, surprised that he would put so much trust in me, and then gladly accept. Oak hands me the Pokedex and I enter the logs of all of the Pokemon I have seen since the beginning of my journey. I enter the most detailed log of Cyndaquil, the only Pokemon I own at the moment. Seen: 4 Own: 1 Cyndaquil: The Fire Mouse Pokemon Ht: 1'08'' Wt: 17.0 lbs
The fire that spouts from its back burns the hottest when it is angry. The flaring flames intimidate foes.Oak wishes me luck in my journey, before quickly running off, saying he was late for his weekly radio show in Goldenrod City. Mr. Pokemon talks about what a privilege it is to have a Pokedex before wishing me luck, healing my Cyndaquil, and sending me on my way. Items Obtained: Berry x2, Antidote, Psncureberry, Mystery Egg Items Used: N/A

Wow. That was pretty amazing. I can't wait till the diary heats up a little bit with the capture of your first (technically Second) Pokemon. I'm interested in seeing how in-depth you can get with the battles. Honestly, they're not the most exciting thing in the world, but there still pretty well written. I also like the fact you wrote up your reaction to learning smokescreen. I cant say too much more as you barely have met your rival. Good Luck with this, and please continue till the game is beaten.

That was pretty awesome. I love the detail in this whole thing and much like your PTW Diary I want to read more as soon as I finish. I like how you also talk about Cyndaquil and not just yourself but I can't wait for you to obtain some more pokemon. I wonder what the mystery egg holds. This is extremely intriguing.

Journal Entry #4: A TheftRoute 30, Cherrygrove City, Route 29, New Bark Town Friday Day, 12:00 As I'm leaving Mr. Pokemon's house, the phone application on my Pokegear starts buzzing away. I like down and notice that the caller ID says that its none other than Professor Elm. I answer, guessing that he is probably seeing how I am doing in getting to Mr. Pokemon's house. When I answer by saying that I had already completed my journey and was on my way home, Elm interrupted me in a frantic voice, saying that I need to get back as soon as possible and talks about how whatever happened is horrible. The phone hangs up and I immediately make my way home. I don't even care about any of the wild Pokemon I run into, since none of them were anything new, so I just ran away from any possible conflict. I also tried to avoid the tall grass, which is also weird for me since I love battling so much. I hit Cherrygrove City, but I don't even stop to say hello to the nice old man who gave me the map card. This was where I was stopped in my tracks. The weird kid standing in the window charges at me, knocking me completely off guard when he actually speaks words. He calls me weak, and tells me that I'm not worthy of having a Pokemon. He says that he just recently obtained a Pokemon that can completely annihilate me. That was when he challenged me to a battle. The rules are that you must accept, so I did. ?? would like to battle! ?? sent out Totodile! Before I start my first battle against a trainer, I think about where this guy could have possibly gotten the Totodile from. I mean, its so rare and the only time I've ever even seen one was in Professor Elm's office. Go! Cyndaquil! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Totodile used Scratch! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Totodile used Scratch! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Totodile used Leer! Cyndaquil's Defense Fell!Cyndaquil used Tackle! Totodile used Scratch! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Totodile used Scratch! Cyndaquil Fainted! ?? defeated Drew! The mystery kid simply laughs and calls me pathetic as I'm forced to put Cyndaquil in his Pokeball. He introduces himself as Bryan and tells me that he is going to be my worst nightmare. He tells me that if I ever get in his way again, that he will show no mercy and completely destroy me again. I start to wonder if I'm truly cut out for this and feel terrible for the pain I could've caused poor little Cyndaquil. Bryan pushes me down and walks away, seemingly making his way towards Route 30. The my mind rushes, returning to the task at hand. Elm needs me, so I must get back there as soon as possible. After seeing if Cyndaquil is okay, I quickly bolt through Route 29, jumping over ledges to avoid even touching any tall grass in the treacherous route. I make good time through the route as I enter the lab. When I enter, all I can see if the mess that has been made. A broken window and several tipped over tables are what I see as I look around and see Professor Elm talking to a policeman. Elm sees me and exclaims how glad he is to see me! He explains how there was a break in and how some young punk stole a Pokemon from the lab. The policeman says that the perpetrator had long red hair. This is when the lightbulb goes off in my head. I explain to the policeman the encounters between me and Bryan over the past day. The policeman thanks me for all of my help and says he has an investigation to do. He walks out as me and Elm begin to talk. Elm apologizes for having me rush back so fast and tells me that it was an emergency. After saying it was okay and wishing him luck in catching Bryan, I hand him over the Mystery Egg that Mr. Pokemon gave me. He stares at it in awe and says this could be the greatest discover in the history of the research of Pokemon evolution. He says if this truly is a Pokemon egg, then we can learn to understand so much more in the world of Pokemon! He thanks for me for being such in integral part of making this happen. He asks to see Cyndaquil and how he has been doing lately. When I bring Cyndaquil, Elm looks at me very happy. He says that Cyndaquil really seems to like me, even though we lost our first battle against a trainer. After I tell him that I met Professor Oak when I seen Mr. Pokemon and that he gave me a Pokedex, Elm gives me some major praise, saying that Oak doesn't just do that for anyone. He tells me that I have potential to be a Pokemon champion! That was very uplifting to say the least. Elm tells me that in order to fill out that Pokedex, that I should take the Pokemon Gym Challenge. He explains that it would be a very tough road, but that it would help me travel around the Johto region and allow me to see and possibly capture all of the different Pokemon. I say that I'm definitely going to do that now that he's suggested it. Elm wishes in me luck in my adventure and tells me to say goodbye to my mom before I go. I say I will and as I'm leaving, Oak's assistant gives me 5 Poke Balls, which is great because now I can start adding to my team. I walk down the few houses to my house and walk in. My mom welcomes me home and asks me how my journey went. I tell her good, but then explain what I'm going to be doing now. She tells me that she's going to save my money for me and that I still better be getting calls from her. I tell her that I will, but also say that I didn't plan on leaving until tomorrow, today has been a long day. Items Obtained: Poke Ball x5 Items Used: Mystery Egg

Great entry once again. I expected just an entry of you learning to heal & stuff, but this was a real surprise. I do see one flaw though, correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't it be, "I'm forced to put Cyndaquil in his Pokeball" instead of Pokemon? It's below the bolded words in your first battle. Otherwise, this was a solid entry. Once again, I'm hoping for exciting things as you expand you Pokemon collection. I'm predicting your first capture to be some sort of a grass PokeMon. I don't know why, but I can just seeing you catching a Ratta (I believe that's what the small mouse-like Pokemon is called) or something along those lines. I just have one thing to say in my parting words for this reply, don't push him too fast. I don't wanna see him win EVERY match. I don't mind you winning, but it'll seem somewhat unrealistic if Cyndaquil destroys the trainers single handedly unless he's a pretty high level. (or if you have plenty of antidotes)
Continue this.

Journal Entry #5: The Party BeginsNew Bark Town, Route 29, Route 46 Saturday Morning, 7:20 I wake up bright and early, eager to start my Pokemon Gym Challenge. I say goodbye to my mom before heading out, wondering what kind of cool Pokemon I can catch around here. Clearly, Pidgey and Sentret aren't really my style. I ask some of the more experienced trainers in New Bark before leaving. The guys tell me that I should be grateful for catching any Pokemon, but tell me about Route 46. The only real purpose of Route 46 is for people traveling from Blackthorn City to Cherrygrove. They say there are some pretty nice Pokemon there like Spearow, Jigglypuff, Geodude, and even Phanpy. I'm thinking this is definitely the place for me, and thank the guys for the information. I start on Route 26, and a man standing in the tall grass offers to show me how to catch a Pokemon. Figuring it might get me something like the Old Man in Cherrygrove, I allow him to show me. After easily catching a Rattata after simply throwing a ball at it, he explains that it won't always be that easy to do. He says that the best bet in catching a Pokemon is weakening it a little before trying to throw the Pokeball. I thank the man for the help and walk away, wondering why he didn't approach me the first few times he seen me. I encounter a Pidgey and a Sentret before reaching my destination, but I simply run away until I make it to Route 46. Upon entering Route 46, I noticed that I really couldn't get anywhere from here, because of the big ledges block the way. I notice some tall grass. Sceptically, I look around. What jumps in front of me completely knocks me off guard. A Geodude! This is totally gonna be mine! Wild Geodude Appeared! Go! Cyndaquil! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Its not very effective.Geodude used Tackle! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Its not very effective.Geodude used Tackle! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Its not very effective.Geodude used Tackle! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Its not very effective.Geodude used Tackle! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Its not very effective.Geodude used Tackle! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Its not very effective.Geodude used Tackle! Drew used the Pokeball! Gotcha! Geodude was caught! Geodude's Data was newly added to the Pokedex! Geodude: The Rock Pokemon Ht: 1'04'' Wt: 44.1 lbs
Proud of their sturdy bodies, they bash against each other in a contest to prove whose is harder. So I've captured my first Pokemon! It was a very hard battle that taught me something very important. I'm going to need to put a lot of variety in my team so that I can take any Pokemon that comes my way. Cyndquil's Tackle was not very effective and that allowed Geodude to do a lot of damage to him. So after this battle, I'm forced to go back and heal at home before quickly coming back, with no interference on Route 29. When I return to Route 46, I look around once again, seeing what could possibly pop out. I ran into a couple of Rattatas, but Normal types will not be much help in the long run. Then I run into a flying type. Wild Spearow Appeared! Go! Cyndaquil! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Spearow used Peck! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Spearow used Growl! Cyndquil's Attack Fell!Drew used the Pokeball! Gotcha! Spearow was caught! Spearow's data was newly added to the Pokedex. Spearow: The Tiny Bird Pokemon Ht: 1'00'' Wt: 4.4 lbs
To protect its territory, it flies around ceaselessly, making high-pitched cries. So my current party consists of a Fire, a Rock, and a Flying type. Three different types should be an advantage, but boy, do I want to get something that will be great against a water type like Totodile. Spearow and Geodude have the potential to be two great additions to my collection, especially when they evolve to Fearow and Golem. They will make a great base for my team, now for some training! I liked that you skipped past Pidgey etc to get to what you wanted and a Geodude is a great second pokemon, always been a fan of the rock type as well as Spearow who seems tougher than Pidgey. Good entry.

Spearow was a personal favourite of mine in Pokemon Red, but, I always went down the route of Zubat in this generation. Would've thought that you'd have tried to get a Phanphy over a Geodude, as its better in my eyes, but I don't put down the choice you made as (when you eventually get it) a Golem will be most useful.

I wasn't really all that sure about this entry. It seems like two Pokemon in one short entry seems like your pushing yourself a bit much. I never was a fan of the rock type due to their obvious water weakness, but nevertheless, GeoDude is still a cool addition. I would've liked a bit more on your rival, though. Not as happy with this one, but still okay at the least. Looking forward to more. I like that it's updated pretty much everyday.

Journal Entry #6: Training TimeRoute 29, Cherrygrove City, Route 30 Saturday Day, 12:00 So with my newly formed 3 Pokemon party, I decide that I should do a bit of training before I try to go up to Violet City to face the first Gym Leader. I want my Pokemon to be ready for the battle of their lives when we get up there. Training was a lot of work, but I think it was worth it. I decided that I wanted Cyndaquil to be a little bit stronger than any of my other Pokemon, because he is my first and I plan on using him more than my others. This was my opportunity to test out how Spearow and Geodude battled, before I did that, I trained my Cyndaquil for a little bit. CyndaquilTraining Cyndaquil was pretty easy. I've gotten to know how Cyndaquil likes to battle, which is also my style that I plan to use for my journey, very aggressively. This little bit of time really helped my and Cyndaquil bond a little bit. I trained him on Route 29, defeating a few Pidgeys and Sentrets. It was only a matter of time before he was where I wanted him to be for my journey to Violet City. Cyndaquil grew to level 7!GeodudeAfter I finished with Cyndaquil, I moved on to Geodude. I figured since most of the Pokemon on Route 29 only use Normal type attacks, that it would be pretty easy to raise him. Turns out this assumption was correct and Geodude was very easy to raise. Tackles from Pidgeys, Sentrets, and even a couple of Rattatas had little effect on my awesome Rock Pokemon. Geodude rolled through several of these Pokemon and I met my goal for him relatively quickly. Geodude grew to level 4! Geodude grew to level 5!SpearowAfter Geodude, my training got a little more difficult. I only caught Spearow at level 2 so it was very hard to find a Pokemon that it could easily defeat. I had to take a number of trips to the Pokemon Center just to heal Spearow after attempting battles with some of the Pokemon from Route 29. After only winning one battle on Route 29, I got the good idea to head to Route 30 to see if maybe Spearow would have better luck there. The first Pokemon I run into is a Caterpie (which was something I hadn't seen yet). When I used Peck, it was Super Effective and nearly knocked it out in one hit. I easily defeated it with my next attack. Flying type is strong against Bug Type, good to know. Spearow grew to level 3!I continue to look around Route 30, in hopes of finding another Caterpie. What I find instead is much more interesting. I look at what I just found and think that my party could use a bug for my first couple of gym battles. Wild Ledyba Appeared! Go! Spearow! Spearow used Peck! It's Super Effective!Ledyba used Tackle! Drew used the Pokeball! Gotcha! Ledyba was caught! Ledyba's data was newly added to the Pokedex! Ledyba: The Five Star Pokemon Ht: 3'03'' Wt: 23.8 lbs
It is timid and clusters together with others. The fluid secreted by its feet indicates its location. So my 3 Pokemon team has quickly turned into a 4 Pokemon team. Now that I've found Route 30, training Spearow was pretty easy. All I do is battle a few more Caterpies and one more Ledyba and Spearow reached its goal. Spearow grew to level 4! Spearow grew to level 5!LedybaNow this was not fun to do at all. The way Ledyba battled makes me severely question my choice in capturing it. As a level 3, it could barely defeat a level two Senturd. I had to heal it after every single solitary battle that I had with it. It was a long drawn out process that was very tedious. I made sure to avoid Pidgeys completely when they appeared due to my newly acquired knowledge that Bug types are weak against Bird Types. Ledyba slugged away at Rattatas and Sentrets for quite a while until it finally reached where I wanted him to be. Ledyba grew to level 4! Ledyba grew to level 5!So my training was complete for the time being. I think I'm ready to make my way up to Violet City. I'm sure I will encounter a bunch of trainers as I'm heading up there, but hopefully they aren't as tough as Bryan was. I can't wait until I see him again. He's going down! I call it a day as the kind old man in Cherrygrove City allows me to stay with him for the night. Journal Entry #7: The Road to VioletCherrygrove City, Route 30, Route 31, Violet City Sunday Morning, 8:00 "Totodile use Tackle!" "NO! Cyndquil!" "Hahahaha. You're weak Drew"I woke up from my nightmare of my defeat to Bryan. I eat breakfast with the Old Man who let me stay with him about the weaknesses of a water type. He tells me it usually depends on the Pokemon, but most water types are weak against grass and electric. My thoughts run through my head and I begin to hope that I can find a grass or electric type very soon. After wishing the Old Man in Cherrygrove a good day and thank him for his help and letting me stay with him for the night, I head up to Route 30. My party being fully healed, I run straight through the tall grass. I'm not really concerned about battling with wild Pokemon as I just want to make it to Violet City with me and my Pokemon relatively unharmed. I'm still kind of worried about my Ledyba being a hassle to train, but I keep going ahead. I make it to the Berry Master's house, and notice that a Berry has grown back in the tree. I take it and continue on. I reach the place where I turned right to go to Mr. Pokemon's house, and instead turn left. I see a trainer up ahead who I noticed battling before. I try to say hello to him, but all he does is challenge me to a battle. Youngster Joey wants to battle! Youngster Joey sent out Rattata! Go! Ledyba! Ledyba used Tackle! Ledyba's attack missed!Ratatta used Tackle! Ledyba used Tackle! Ratatta used Tail Whip! Ledyba's defense fell!Ledyba used Tackle! Ratatta used Tail Whip! Ledyba's defense fell!Ledyba used Tackle! Ratatta used Tail Whip! Ledyba's defense fell!Ledyba used Tackle! Ratatta used Tail Whip! Ledyba's defense fell!Ledyba used Tackle! Critical Hit!Rattata fainted! Drew defeated Youngster Joey!I just won my first battle! I talk to Joey after the match and he explains that if you make eye contact with a trainer, that you must battle them, its a rule. Joey asks me if I have a Pokegear, and then gives me his number so we can battle again sometime. I look at my Ledyba, who battled pretty well in that match and think maybe it could work out. I continue to go up Route 30. I make eye contact with two more trainer, Youngster Mikey and Bug Catcher Don. Mikey had beaten Joey earlier in the day and he was quite a bit tougher, mostly because he had two Pokemon, a Pidgey and a Ratatta. Don had a couple of Caterpies, and he was pretty easy to beat. A couple of my Pokemon gained a level during these battles. Drew defeated Youngster Mikey! Drew defeated Bug Catcher Don!
Ledyba grew to level 6! Cyndaquil grew to level 8!After those hard fought battles, I continue my way north and make it to Route 31. I'm probably about half way to where I really want to be. I run into some tall grass, fully intending on running away from any Pokemon I could possibly run into, when..... A grass Pokemon! This couldn't have worked out any better for me! Once I catch this, Bryan is going down the next time I see him! Wild Bellsprout Appeared! Go! Cyndquil! Cyndaquil used Tackle! Bellsprout used Vine Whip! It's not very effective..Cyndaquil used Tackle! Bellsprout used Vine Whip! It's not very effective..Drew used the Pokeball! Gotcha! Bellsprout was caught! Bellsprout's data was newly added to the Pokedex! Bellsprout: The Flower Pokemon Ht: 2'04'' Wt: 8.8 lbs
If it notices anything that moves, it immediately flings its vine at the object. Now we are in business! Bellsprout should add a new element to my party with some good grass moves. I continue my way up Route 30, surprisingly not running into any Pokemon until I come to a cave. I enter the cave, but I can't see anything so I exit before I get lost. Reading the sign next to the cave, its called "Dark Cave." Clever. I walk past Dark Cave and find a Potion in one of those Pokeballs laying on the ground. I keep walking a I find a Bitter Berry in one of those trees. All of these different kind of berries have special effects on Pokemon. Bitter Berries happen to cure confusion. I jump over a fence and meet yet another trainer. Bug Catcher Wade was a strange guy. He had four Pokemon, but they were all crappy bug types. He had three Caterpies and a Weedle. I started off with Geodude, who took out one of the Caterpies, but then realized that I had Spearow in my party who was strong against bug types. Spearow annihilated the Wade's remaining three Pokemon and I easily defeated him. Drew defeated Bug Catcher Wade!
Geodude grew to level 6! Geodude learned Defense Curl! After walking through the tall grass and avoiding any Pokemon, I go through a building which is the entrance to Violet City. I look around and see the Pokemon Gym entrance very close by. Falkner, here I come! PokedexPokemon Seen: 11 Pokemon Owned: 5 Items Obtained: Berry, Potion, Bitter Berry, Pokeball Items Used: Pokeball

I'm actually a fan of pokemon but I'll give this a try, I love how the pokemon moves lol, good to see your focusing mainly on pushing (is that the right word?) Cyndaquil as he is your main pokeguy, nice entry, it was writ well and easy to read and understand, next post lol at the nightmare, lol at Old man you couldn't give him a name?, suprsied at you sending Ledyba would have fought in a battle you would have used someone better, good to see you getting on well in battled and glad you didn't write them all up, Bellsprout doesn't look very strong but I guess he'll do well as he's a grass type, overall it was a great write up all very easy to read, good luck and keep this up.

Entry 8: Falkner and the Violet City GymViolet City Sunday Day, 1:30 Upon entering Violet City, one of the first things I notice is how much bigger it is than Cherrygrove or New Bark. After healing my Pokemon really quick, I look around the town and see what kind of things I can find. I first see Sprout Tower, a building full of monks who like to train Pokemon. I'm going to visit there later after I defeat Falkner. I continue my little journey through town. Walking by the Pokemon Gym, I notice a strange man. He introduces himself as Earl. In a strange way to talk (kind of like Yoda) he explains that he is the teacher of the Pokemon school. He says that he can teach me anything I need to know. I ask him about Falkner and the local gym. He tells me that Falkner uses bird type Pokemon and that electric types are good to use. He tells me that grass, bug, and ground types are all weak against birds. That pretty much eliminates Bellsprout or Ledyba from doing any damage at the gym. I thank Earl for his help and continue on my way. I walk into houses where the lights on the outside are on (a sign that trainers are free to come in) and see a trainer about my age and an older man. The younger trainer comes up to me and asks me if I have a Bellsprout. Replying yes, he begs me to trade him for his Onix. Thinking about this, I am forced to decline as I already have a rock Pokemon in my party and Bellsprout will help me defeat Bryan when I get the chance. I decide that its finally time to enter the gym and attempt to defeat all of the trainers inside. Walking towards the big building, my nerves are starting to get to me. I don't want another situation where I get dominated like when Bryan battled me. Looking the road ahead, I see that I have to face two trainers before I get to Falkner. I decide that I'm going to use my two Pokemon that are weak against bird types first in hopes that maybe that can do a bit of damage before I get out the Pokemon that can really do some damage. I challenge the first trainer to a battle and its on! Bird Keeper Abe wants to battle! Bird Keeper Abe sent out Spearow! Go! Bellsprout! Spearow used Peck! It's super effective!Bellsprout fainted!Go! Drew defeated Bird Keeper Abe!After defeating me Abe and having a short conversation of him concluding with him wishing me luck, I go to the Pokemon Center, clearly concerned with my situation. It appears like only 2 of my Pokemon, Geodude and Cyndquil will be any help whatsoever during this gym battle. Hopefully the second Junior Trainer will help prove that maybe at least one more Pokemon will be some help. I heal my Pokemon and head back to the gym, ready for part 2 of my gym challenge. Spearow would have defeated the first Pidgey if not for a critical hit. I go to the Pokemon Center, already set on my order for battle barring Falkner having some strange Pokemon. I decide that Bellsprout will go out first, followed by Ledyba, Spearow, Geodude and finally Cyndaquil. I give the last three each a berry, thinking that they have the most chance to do damage to Falkner's birds. I am prepared to do whatever I need to in order to win this battle. Headed to the gym, I challenge Falkner to a battle. He tells me that he won't go easy on me and that I will have to earn the Zephyrbadge. Leader Falkner wants to battle! He tells me that I have a lot of potential and that I could be a Pokemon League champion. He awards me with a Zephyrbadge, but also gives me a TM, or Technical Machine. He tells me if I used a TM on a Pokemon, it will learn a move. He tells me that TM 31 contains Mud Slap, but tells me to use it wisely because it can only be used once. I excitedly thank Falkner for a great battle and wish him luck in the future. One down, seven to go! Entry 9: The Pokemon Egg and Sprout TowerViolet City, Route 31, Dark Cave Sunday Day, 4:00 Upon leaving the Violet City gym, my Pokegear starts ringing. I answer it to find that its none other than Professor Elm. Elm tells me that he made a fascinating discovery about the Pokemon Egg and he wants me to meet his assistant at the Violet City Pokemon Center. I was planning to head there anyways, but after hanging up I went much faster. I find Elm's assistant and he explains to me that the only way for this egg to hatch is if its around other live Pokemon. He asks me to take it and I glady accept. I take the Pokemon Egg from the assistant, and thank him for it. I heal my Pokemon and decide that I really need to train my Bellsprout. I go to Route 31 to train Bellsprout, but all I can find are other Bellsprouts and Caterpies which grass moves have no effect on. I decide to take a risk and search around dark cave. Sure enough, the first Pokemon I run into is a Geodude. Bellsprout was able to easily defeat the Geodude with its grass type Vine Whip and after finding two more, leveled up. Bellsprout grew to level 6! Bellsprout learned Growth! Now that Bellsprout is caught up with my other Pokemon, I decide its time to check out Sprout Tower. Heading back to Violet City, I decide to stock up on Potions at the Pokemart before I even dare to battle another tough trainer like the Elder Sage of Sprout Tower. I arrive to Sprout Tower and talk around a bit before heading up to the first floor. Someone tells me I have a long road ahead of me as Sprout Tower is over 100 feet tall. Someone warns me that ghost Pokemon inhabit Sprout Tower and not to use normal type moves on them. The last person that I talk to tells me making it to the top would be worth my while. They tell me I could get an HM, or Hidden Machine. Hidden Machines are similar to Technical Machines except you can use HMs an infinite number of times. Thinking that would be worth it, I head up to the first floor. On the first floor of Sprout Tower, I see that there will be only on trainer per floor. I battle Sage Nico, who has three Bellsprouts. I use my Ledyba and Spearow, both of whom have a type advantage over Bellsprout. Bellsprout was no match for either Ledyba or Spearow, and I quickly win the battle. Drew defeated Sage Nico! Ledyba grew to level 7!Going to the second floor, I move Bellsprout to the front of my party. I learned in my last battle that if you switch out Pokemon in the middle of a battle, that they split the experience and both could potentially level up. My next opponent is Sage Chow, who also has three Bellsprouts. My strategy works as Ledyba and Spearow do the dirty work and Bellsprout also gets some experience. In a similarly easy battle, I defeat Chow. Drew defeated Sage Chow! Bellsprout grew to level 7! Spearow grew to level 7! Spearow learned Leer! Those last two battles had left my Ledyba weakened. Luckily I had went to the Market before and bought those Potions. I used one on Ledyba and moved on to the next floor. The third floor featured Sage Edmond, who like Chow and Nico, had three Bellsprouts. Using my strategy before to get Bellsprout some experience, I once again win a battle easily. Drew defeated Sage Edmond! Bellsprout grew to level 8!I move up to the final floor of Sprout Tower and see three trainers awaiting before I get a chance at the Elder Sage. The first trainer I fight is Sage Jin, who has only a single Bellsprout. This Bellsprout however is significantly stronger than any of the previous Bellsprouts. However, Ledyba's type advantage allowed me to defeated Jin without too much problem. Drew defeated Sage Jin! Ledyba grew to level 8! Ledyba learned Supersonic! My next opponent was Sage Neal. Like Sage Jin, Sage Neal had a pretty strong Bellsprout. I decide the battle before that Bellsprout didn't need any more training so my strategy was for this battle was for Spearow to use its type advantage and defeat the Bellsprout. After two Peck's from Spearow, the battle was over. Drew defeated Sage Neal! Spearow grew to level 8!The final Sage before I got my shot at the Elder Sage was Sage Troy. Sage Troy was much different than any trainer I faced on Sprout Tower before. He had the strongest Bellsprout that I had seen yet, but he also had a Hoothoot, a Pokemon that I wasn't prepared for. I brought out the big guns as Cyndaquil was called to battle Bellsprout. He took out the Bellsprout, and I sent out Geodude, who hadn't battle in a while to battle the Hoothoot. Being a rock type, Hoothoot's Tackles were not very effective and Geodude defeated Hoothoot and Sage Troy. Drew defeated Sage Troy! Cyndaquil grew to level 11! Geodude grew to level 8!Sage Troy warned me that the Elder Sage was next and told me that he was much stronger than any other trainer on this tower. Taking initiative, I decided to go all the way down the tower before battling the head honcho of the tower and heal my Pokemon. Ledyba and Spearow had quite a bit taken out of them and I was going to need them for this next battle. After healing, I went back up the tower only to find someone else battling the Elder Sage! It was Bryan! Bryan was spitting harsh commands at his Pokemon and they hesitantly obeyed, but Bryan dominated the Sage, not losing a single Pokemon. The Sage gave Bryan the HM, but warned him to treat his Pokemon better. Before I got my chance to battle Bryan, he used an Escape Rope to run away. I talk to the Elder, who says he's prepared to battle me and test my bond with my Pokemon! Elder Sage Li would like to battle! Elder Sage Li sent out Bellsprout! Go! Bellsprout! He tells me that I am far more prepared for greatness than the previous battle that he had. He tells me the importance of treating Pokemon right and how special Pokemon truly are. He gives me the HM05, which contains Flash. He tells me I will need Flash to light up dark caves that I can't see in. I thank the Elder for all of his help, grab an Escape Rope in the corner and head out. I find a place to stay for the night as my mind moves to what could possibly be in my Pokemon egg as well as my next gym challenge!
