Monday Night Raw; November 1st, 2010
Primo with Rosa Mendes defeats. Yoshi Tatsu
The Usos defeat. Santino Marella & Vladimir KozlovCUE OPENING PACKAGE!Monday Night Raw opens up with its usual pyrotechnics display, and we are greeted by the commentary team of Michael Cole and Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler. They reveal that tonight’s Main Event will be the WWE Champion, The Miz defending his title against the former Champion, Triple H! Michael Cole is not happy about this and starts moaning about how Triple H chose to go after Sheamus, and he shouldn’t be getting a title shot. Lawler tells him to shut up and we are luckily interrupted by the theme of
CM Punk to a huge pop. He comes to the ring looking serious and enters before speaking to the WWE Universe.
He says that before anyone starts getting the wrong impression, he
has not changed in the slightest. His desire for the WWE Championship is the reason he is targeting The Miz, not because he wants to start pandering to the WWE Universe. He says that despite the world still been plagued with alcoholics and drug addicts, the Straight Edge word is postponed in favor for the WWE Championship hunt. The WWE Universe cheer for him again, even though he basically just insulted them. He says that The Miz is unworthy of the WWE Championship, and the title should be handed over to the Straight Edge Messiah to be cleansed. Before he can continue, the theme of the WWE Champion himself,
The Miz hits the arena and he walks onto the stage with Alex Riley. He stands on the stage and speaks. The Miz starts with his usual “Really?” skit, to which Punk replies “Yes, Miz, really”. Miz says that CM Punk is just jealous of his ‘awesome-ness’. He says that Punk must be lying about being Straight Edge because you’d have to be blind drunk to see him as an unworthy Champion. Punk says that Miz is not worthy, and he’s going to prove that, if he’d just accept his WWE Championship challenge from last week. Miz works his way out of it yet again, saying he already has a title defense tonight against Triple H, and saying how Punk still hasn’t earned his spot anyway, as Alex Riley wasn’t enough of a challenge. Riley looks at Miz in confusion, but takes the insult without saying a word. Suddenly, the two are interrupted by the theme of
The Nexus to a huge amount of heat, and out walks Wade Barrett. Barrett begins to speak, saying that if anyone is going to be receiving a reward, it should be him. He reminds us of how he got rid of John Cena, which was effectively ‘removing the poison from the WWE’. The crowd boo. He says that CM Punk hasn’t done anything to deserve a Championship match recently, and The Miz got lucky when he won it. The three men are cut off by the sound of the
Anonymous General Manager. Michael Cole then reads “
And I quote – both Wade Barrett and CM Punk have valid points, and tonight, both men shall receive an opportunity to face The Miz.” The crowd pop, but he isn’t finished, He reads “
Later tonight, we will see Wade Barrett go one-on-one with CM Punk in a #1 Contender’s match, with the winner going on to face either The Miz or Triple H at Survivor Series!” Punk and Barrett are happy about this. The Raw theme hits and we fade to a commercial break.
Commercial BreakRandy Orton defeats. Drew McIntyreThis match was made last week when Drew McIntyre made the challenge, hoping to make a name for himself. However, Orton was on top of his game and managed to his McIntyre with an RKO for the victory.
Afterwards, Orton celebrated his victory, but McIntyre was a sore loser and brutally attacked Orton. He beats him down with vicious stomps and right hands. He then drills him with not one, but
two Future Shock DDTs, laying him out. McIntyre leaves as referees rush to the ring to assist Randy Orton. We then fade backstage.
We see Josh Mathews backstage with the United States Champion, Daniel Bryan. He asks him if he heard Dolph Ziggler’s challenge for a 5-on-5 Elimination Tag Team match at Survivor Series. Bryan says he heard it, and right after his match up next, he’s going to answer it. He walks off and we fade to a promo package.
A promo package plays, promoting the November 15th edition of Monday Night Raw as WWE Old School night. A special 3-hour broadcast dedicated to the history of the WWE. Featuring the likes of ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, Jimmy ‘Superfly’ Snuka and many more! Don’t miss it when WWE goes Old School! We then cut to a commercial break.
Commercial Break.Daniel Bryan defeats. William RegalThis was an excellent match and a classic student versus teacher encounter. The student came out on top as Daniel Bryan made William Regal tap out to the LeBelle Lock.
Daniel Bryan celebrates a little before grabbing a microphone. He says that he heard Dolph Ziggler’s Survivor Series proposal, and he’s absolutely fine with that, saying that as long as he gets his hands on Dolph, he’ll be happy. He says that he’s going to get looking for team members right away, and he suggests Ziggler does the same. He drops the microphone and we fade backstage.
We are shown the locker room of The Nexus where Wade Barrett is getting ready for his match up next. He tells The Nexus that tonight, he’s going to defeat CM Punk and become the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship, and then go on to win at Survivor Series. They nod their heads in agreement as he says that once he wins the WWE Championship, nobody will be able to stop The Nexus. He then tells David Otunga and Justin Gabriel that they too have a match tonight as they defend the WWE Tag Team Championships against The Hart Dynasty. Otunga tells Barrett not to worry as they have it covered. He smirks and then leaves the locker room as we fade to a commercial break.
Commercial Break. We return to ringside where Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are ready to call the action.
This graphic shows up on the titantron, advertising the next match. But before it can begin, we hear the theme of the WWE Champion,
The Miz, who down the ramp alongside Alex Riley. They each take a seat beside Jerry Lawler, which doesn’t please him too much. Michael Cole is so excited to have them both out here and tries to suck up to them.
#1 Contendership Match – CM Punk defeats. Wade BarrettThroughout the match, the action went back and forth. Both men were clearly determined to win and earn their Championship match at Survivor Series. The crowd were behind CM Punk, obviously disliking Wade Barrett a lot more. In the middle of the match, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler actually got up and left the commentary desk, frustrated by Miz, Riley and Cole. The match came to an end when CM Punk slid off the shoulders of Wade Barrett and lifted him onto his own before hitting the Go To Sleep for the victory.
CM Punk made sure The Miz knew he was coming for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. Miz and Riley left, looking slightly nervous as we fade to a promo package.
We see a promo package for WWE Survivor Series, airing on November 21st, 2010. We then return to Raw.
We are back at the commentary desk where Josh Mathews is sitting in Lawler’s chair. Mathews explains that The King had had enough of Michael Cole’s favoritism for The Miz and left the table. Cole says Lawler is just stupid, and can’t learn to accept that The Miz is the future. We then fade to a commercial break.
Commercial Break.Michelle McCool with Layla defeats. Gail KimMcCool makes quick work of her old rival, finishing her off with the Faithbreaker.
LayCool scream into the cameras that Beth Phoenix and Melina have got nothing on them. We then fade backstage.
Backstage, we see John Morrison talking to United States Champion, Daniel Bryan to a huge pop. Bryan says that he needs to pick his team members early, and he wants John Morrison to be a part of his team at Survivor Series. The crowd cheer and Morrison happily accepts. He says he’s love to be a part of his team, and he looks forward to Survivor Series. Bryan pats him on the shoulder and then leaves, but the segment isn’t over. Out of nowhere, Chris Jericho bursts onto the scene, nailing Morrison with a clothesline to the back of the head. Jericho shouts at Morrison, telling him he is nothing. He walks off as we fade further backstage.
We see The Hart Dynasty on their way to the ring, ready for their match up next. We then fade to a commercial break.
Commercial Break.WWE Tag Team Championships – David Otunga & Justin Gabriel [C] with Heath Slater & Skip Sheffield defeat. The Hart Dynasty with NatalyaAfter defeating MVP and Mark Henry last week on Raw for the titles, The Nexus were to defend their WWE Tag Team Championships against The Hart Dynasty. The Harts had an advantage mid-match, but the addition of Slater and Sheffield by ringside was a big part of the match as their distractions allowed Slater to pull David Hart Smith from the apron, allowing Otunga to plant Kidd with The Verdict for the victory.
The Nexus celebrate as the crowd boo. They leave with the WWE Tag Team Championships in hand as we fade backstage.
Todd Grisham is backstage alongside Triple H to a huge pop. He asks him if he is ready to take on The Miz for the WWE Championship. Triple H says that tonight is not so much about regaining the WWE Championship as it is taking out his frustration. He says that tonight, The Miz is unfortunate enough to be in the ring with him, and he is in the foulest of moods. He says that if Sheamus shows his face tonight, he will regret the day he ever attacked him. Triple H storms off as we fade to a commercial break.
Commercial Break. We return to see David Otunga, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater and Skip Sheffield walking down a corridor laughing at their victory before the break. They reach their locker room and outside, they meet up with Michael McGillicutty who had apparently just been to fetch a drink. They open the door to see the locker room upturned and Michael Tarver on the ground with a broken steel chair lying next to him. The crowd go nuts as The Nexus stand there in shock. Wade Barrett walks in asking what the hold up was and sees the carnage. He shouts at Heath Slater to lock the door and he slams it shut as we fade to ringside.
WWE Championship – Triple H defeats. The Miz [C] with Alex Riley via DisqualificationThe Miz had no idea what he was getting himself into. Triple H was in an extremely bad mood and showed it here tonight. He dominated most of the match and hit Miz with a Double A Spinebuster. He was ready to hit the Pedigree, when out of nowhere came Sheamus, sliding into the ring. He and Triple H began trading blows as the referee called for the bell.
Sheamus and Triple H went back and forth as The Miz escaped with his WWE Championship and Alex Riley. Triple H got the advantage and began delivering rights to the skull of Sheamus. As The Miz backed up the ramp, CM Punk came out of nowhere and attacked him to a pop from the crowd. Alex Riley intervened, saving his mentor. Miz manages to escape as Punk hits the Go To Sleep on Alex Riley on the stage. Inside the ring, Triple H goes for a Pedigree on Sheamus, but Sheamus slips out and flees from ringside through the crowd. Triple H screams in anger, telling Sheamus that he will get him as Monday Night Raw fades to a close.
