Why would they let an outside company dictate what they can and cannot do? Nobody is going to give a business that type of control. WWE is the customer here, not Mattel, they're Mattel's client..not the other way around. If they lose the license that's bad news for Mattel, not the WWE. There's plenty of companies out there that they can get to manufacture their merchandise.

There's plenty of companies out there that they can get to manufacture their merchandise. That are as big as Mattel? Does nobody know how a sponsor works? You have to appease your sponsors. That's how you make money. It depends on how much stake they have in the company. If they're a super shareholder and own a giant percentage in the company then ya...they would have some pull. As far as I know though, they only have a toy partnership, not a brand partnership. Their function is to market, manufacture and distribute toy related merchandise for WWE. WWE is the customer, they can have whoever they want sell their crap. It's Mattel that has to appease the WWE. Certainly Mattel is the king of them all and they have more resources but the WWE has survived through LJN, Hasbro and Jakks. They don't need Mattel to be a successful enterprise, so why would they let them decide the content that's on their programming? Sponsors are the companies that advertise their own product/business on WWE programming. This PPV is presented by"Slim Jim"..that's a sponsor. The success of the WWE is very important to Mattel. WWE is a mega successful enterprise..why would Mattel or the WWE risk their bottom line by changing what works? Why would WWE allow themselves to be tied down to a company for so long that's calling the shots?

1) I'm pretty sure it was reported that Mattel had the license for around 8-10 years.
2) ...it has to do with Linda's campaign and wanting to widen their demographic again with kids, who they hope will continue to be fans of the product as they get older. I guess Mattel could factor into that some, but it sure as hell is not the main reason they "went PG".
3) Mattel went on record in a Q&A about the Daniel Bryan firing, stating "As WWE’s master toy licensee, Mattel is not involved in any decisions surrounding WWE’s Superstars or Divas."
So, they have nothing to do with the programming.

I have never had a problem with the PG thing I fully understand it but I still draw the damn line at the stopping of matches because of accidental blood. I have been a fan near 20 years and I have always bought every PPV since they started charging us in the UK for them back in 97. However until this stopping matches for blood stops I will never give the WWE a penny of my money for a PPV. Blading should have been stopped years ago but accidents happen and I don't pay £15 to see a wrestler sit on a chair while some guy wipes blood from his face.

Wait, so Mattel can carry a licence like DC (who's superheroes punch each other through walls and beat up supervillains (who kill, mind you), Bleed and have mature storylines) but WWE performers aren't allowed to say ass or blade? Yeah I'm not in favor of that logic. But I am in favor of the WWE trying to become less of an "animalistic" nature and more marketable. To us it isn't so barbaric, but to the general public it may be so. WWE being PG is fine by me. The storylines still remain captivating in some cases, and the wrestling is becoming more competitive and flashy.

i think pg is here to stay. they are reportedly making more money now with it being a family show. Do any of you really think they will go back on that to please the IWC?

First off, I do not believe under any circumstances that Mattel controls WWE's ratings, or that Vince McMahon would EVER give up that kind of power over his product to another company.
But in the stupid ass event that were true, PG is fine with me.
I have enjoyed the WWE's progamming as of late, and i dont care if Vince has to be PG for the next 20 years, he needs to do whatever it takes to keep Mattel making the WWE figures.
I have collected every WWF/WWE figure from LJN all the way to now, and these are the best wrestling figures EVER!
WWE is more fun to watch right now knowing all the Bad ass figures that Mattel might make of todays stars and Legends of yesterday.

Bruno Sammartino to the Hall of Fame?!?!?! We can only hope. Even if it doesn't happen, Vince's HOF is not the be-all-and-end-all of HOF's.

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive at all -- if blood and swearing were such a big deal, Mattel definitely wouldn't be making DC toys.

Well it's not the end of the world, even though some people make it out to be. 2012 is supposedly . (Not my opinion)

Well PG means we don't have to worry about another Katie Vick-like storyline, Or Al Wilson. Or a good wrestling program.

PG sucks, and this news sucks. It sucks for you maybe. It worked in the 80's, doesn't work now. The main that urks me is no blood, this is pro wrestling, not Full House.

Wow Vince has really brain washed you good eh? No matter what Vinny mac wants to call it's still pro wrestling, just with a stupid name and a lot more bs. And even if you use that logic, it was "sports entertainment" in the 80's and 90's and we still had blood.
