I figured I'd pass along that I was talking to one of BJ's close friends and corner-men the other day and he confirmed that that BJ is indeed moving back to WW following the Edgar losses.
According to what I was told, he's already training and looking to fight again asap.
I think it's kind of risky to jump to a higher weight class after two poor performances in your regular weight class, but maybe this is what Penn needs to give him that killer instinct back.
As far as opponents go, I'm pretty clueless there. I'd almost want to see Penn/Hughes III, just for the hell of it.
What are your Opinions? Who should he fight first?

Bad idea, but put him in there with the loser of Kampmann/Shields if he's serious.
Or maybe the winner of Hardy/Condit.

Pretty bad move for BJ right now. Winner of Hardy/Condit makes more sense though. Aslo Dream, relpy to my message!

Renzo's going to LW. He's told me personally many times that he would like to have that rematch because he feels he was discredited in the first fight. Not sure when Renzo will be back though. He hurt his foot training for 112. If I had to guess, he'll probably be back before years end.

Rubber Match with Hughes.
He crushed Hughes the first time, was winning the second one until the rib injury/gassing. Hughes isn't going to be fighting the top guys of WW anymore, and Penn needs a fight at 170 to test the waters again. I wouldn't throw Penn to the wolves just yet at 170. A 3rd and conclusive match with Hughes will probably be one of the best fights he could have at this time.

Hughes is great and he SHOULD be fighting the top guys and I know he will eventually. He's definitely not finished fighting anytime soon.

I'd personally like to see Hughes/Penn III as well, and maybe a fight with either Serra or Lytle down the line perhaps...

A 3rd and conclusive match with Hughes will probably be one of the best fights he could have at this time. Hughes is on a three fight win-streak. His last win was against Almeida who is no joke. Not only did Hughes win...but he SUBMITTED HIM. Hughes may not ever be able to beat GSP again but I still think he could give a lot of the guys at 170 problems... Maybe Penn moving up means he was really concerned with Frankie Edgars speed and he feels that 170 will be an advantage for him since he will be faster than virtually everyone in that division. I'm interested in the move if it is true. He has done enough at 155. Edgar can have his shine for the time being....I'm just hoping for the day that Dana White brings Jose Aldo to the UFC to fight at 155. Probably won't happen for awhile now though..

Aldo will drop down before he moves up.

Maybe, but after seeing BJ lately, I think Aldo would kill him.

Almeida is damn good and Hughes looked great. But what I meant was that he most likely won't be fighting or beating the TOP TIER guys like GSP, Jon "The Human Snuggie" Fitch(Fitch has been after him for ages and Hughes never accepted for whatever reason), Josh Koscheck(See Fitch explanation), Alves again and a few others like Shields. I think he's in more of a gatekeeper/legend role now than a top contender. I say if he convincingly beats Penn, then put him up against one of those guys to see how he fares. Maybe he's got a few good fights left in him. Who knows. But do many people honestly see him making another run at the gold by beating all these younger and quicker guys? I certainly don't.
I think he may do ok in those fights, but I can't see him beating any of them. Flame on.

Hugues has NEVER been offered Fitch or Koscheck, they have called HIM out. Hughes has never said no to a fight. I think he would actually beat Fitch.

Maybe it was fuzzy, if so, I apologize. He wasn't officially offered a fight but he could have verbally accepted the challenge("Fitch wants to fight me so bad then I'll let him" kind of thing") and pressed Dana to make the fight happen. Other fights have been made like that. I think most of those AKA guys called Hughes out at one point or another but Hughes never really responded to the best of my knowledge(my memory is shot nowadays). Regardless, its really irrelevant now. I just don't see Hughes getting back up into those top tier guys again. I like Hughes and want to see him go back up the ladder but I don't think it'll happen. Maybe he can beat Fitch and fight another top tier guy. If he does, look at the egg on my face. Wouldn't be the first time I was way off.

Liddell/Couture Serra/GSP Duffee/Russow Werdum/Fedor etc. I'd love to see Hughes make that last title run myself. Guys always been a favorite of mine and always will.

He takes fights as they're offered. He never challenges anybody. I'm not saying anyone HERE is specifically hating on Hughes, but he gets WAY to much slack. He's 45-7 and looked dominant in his last 3 fights, what else do people want? YES, he had those 2 straight losses to GSP and Alves, but those two are some of the TOP guys in that division right now, so how is that a bad thing? Hughes is a legend. Plain and simple and is NOT finished.
