The thing is, the people who complain about getting no replies need to be willing to reply to diaries they otherwise wouldn't. I still stand by the idea that if you aren't willing to dish out replies then you shouldn't be allowed to complain about not receiving them. I'll be honest and say I generally don't read diaries when the writer doesn't give out replies because you aren't really contributing to the board. Your diary can be absolutely terrible but if you are taking the time to hand out some good replies then I'll still read and offer some constructive criticism.
People seem to forget that this whole community relies on feedback. If people don't offer feedback because they don't like a diary, then how is the writer ever going to know why they don't like it? It takes what, a maximum of ten minutes to read and reply to a show. So you're all honestly telling me you don't have a spare ten minutes to read something you usually wouldn't read and give some feedback?
People can say we're as active now as back in the day but I remember a time when every diary got two or three replies per show and a good majority of that was constructive criticism and people explaining what could be improved so that they would read more often.

I'd love to see that reply for reply group work problem is like Elliot I can't see it happening. If I was doing something other than SNW then I'd deff be down for it. I try and stick to reply for reply when I have another diary. I can't do that with SNW because sign-up are different, I usually get one line replies (nothing wrong with that I like 'em) apart from Ace who I reply to his PTW anyway. I completely agree with the "the idea that if you aren't willing to dish out replies then you shouldn't be allowed to complain about not receiving them." But disagree saying "the whole community relies on feedback" I always think we're doing this out of fun. We're doing this because we enjoy doing it. So it shouldn't matter how many replies we get. Yes it is nice to get replies but we should see it more as a bonus than something we heavily rely on. I'm not saying no-one should ask for replies ever again. I post a few times here asking for replies for the big shows but if I wasn't getting any replies to SNW I'd know I'd keep it going till I was bored of it/no more time for it. That's my two cents anyway, I'm sure others disagree and you have every right to.

This board existed pre-2010?! In all honesty, people shouldn't be forced to reply to anything. I'll gladly reply if people take the time to reply to my diary. That's basic good manners. However, if I don't read a certain diary, or if you don't return the reply, I won't bother. It's a simple as that. People should have their own free will and reply when they want. And, sorry Bob, I haven't forgotten you. You'll have an extra long reply coming!

ugh, its about once every three month we see this pop up now. reply for reply can never be instituted as a legit rule on the boards as it would never work. but, the few that will go by the rule and stick by it should really keep announcing it in the chat thread. Like R said, I usually reply to people I know ill return the favor. If you come into this thread and say, 'Hey, just got Raw up throw me a reply and I'll give you one back', 9 times out of 10, I'll reply to that show. So, what I am trying to say is I guess if you want replies to your diary, announce that you will be willing to throw someone a reply in return. Yeah, this is basically the system now, but maybe just remind people you're willing. And no, this board isn't about feedback. Its about creativity and the first thing Ricky said to me when I was discouraged about lack of feedback on an early diary of mine is that I shouldn't give a who is reading, as along as I am having fun writing. Today, my goal is to throw Bob & Dan replies, since they are ing stalwarts when it comes to giving them back. Also, its my first time really sitting down and getting work done since Shifty came back, so I'll give him a reply as well. Anyone else who wants a reply, I'd be willing to try and squeeze you in tonight.

I don't think what Rated R wants to institute is a rule, it's just a list of people who would pretty much guarantee a reply to anyone who replies to their diary. I think it'd be quite useful to those new to the boards who don't get feedback. I know if I had the list the first time I was here, my first diary would've stuck around much longer. I'm in the same boat as Red Dragon as far as participation goes, because the majority of my replies are one-liners, but I think a comprehensive list of those participating in the R4R system would be very useful for people who want replies and aren't sure who to reply to to get them.
The only time I generally reply to something is if it's a sign up, something unique, or if someone leaves a good reply to me and then asks me to drop a reply in their reply. Other than that, I'm usually just a reader. I read probably 2/3s of the diaries on the board on a semi-regular basis but am unable to leave a good reply, so I don't bother.

I don't know how many times I have dished out relies to literally ten diaries at a time, and less than half of them return the reply. the same old excuse is "i don't know the era". I find it hilarious because more times then not, the guys in 1993 were wrestling in 1999-2000 and whatnot.
That's why Dan, Penguin, duan, chaz, Matt and whomever else return my replies will always get a reply from me.
BUT, if people reply to my diary first, i always return the reply. Even if its a sign up. I remember giving Bockwinkel a huge reply for his diary.

I'll try to get HeAT up, but my it is saved on my laptop, so I can't get it posted at the moment since my laptop is being a bitch.
I'll return some replies in a bit.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm guilty for not replying to companies or eras that don't interest me. But I've made an attempt to branch out on replying, and I'll start to do so more often, and to more diaries. I'm going to dig up my ECW diary that I keep updating like once every month, as well, haha. That way, people might reply to that if they don't want to reply to 2011, which is understandable with present day diaries being the most overdone diaries in the history of the board.

My only problem with current day dairies are that all of them are pretty similar and only a few things stick out.

I don't think what Rated R wants to institute is a rule, it's just a list of people who would pretty much guarantee a reply to anyone who replies to their diary. Bingo. I'm not trying to force people to do anything, I'm just giving them the option to increase their chances of getting some feedback. Onto the 'we do this to be creative' thing, very true. I don't write for feedback, I write because I enjoy doing it. But I'll be the first to tell you that you can be as creative as you want, if you aren't getting any feedback it feels pretty crappy. The biggest demotivating factor on this board is thinking nobody reads your diary. Just ask KVE. He's got one of, if not the, best diary on the board and yet the lack of feedback means he is talking about quitting.

My only problem with current day dairies are that all of them are pretty similar and only a few things stick out. Since you grouped all the "current day diaries" together, have you even looked at my TNA sim? I'm doing stuff totally different then the other TNA sims on this board and what TNA is doing/has done on television. I don't see how only a few things stick on in my sim, as I'm doing things that nobody is doing (nor TNA), so how does that not stick out? Maybe you were referring to the WWE current day ones, but to group all "current day ones" together is just silly. I thought I was doing things that stuck out, but I guess not. Now, I feel like the past six months have been a waste of my time because I haven't done anything that "sticks out". The same people that tell me "Oh, you don't stick with anything" are the same ones that don't bother to (apparently) read it. Thanks to DTP for actually replying to my shows on a regular basis and up until his last reply, didn't ask for one in return. I will return his reply because he is apparently the only one who enjoys reading and replying to my diary despite nothing sticking out.

I believe yours is the only TNA current day one going, so yours wouldn't be under that category.

Maybe you were referring to the WWE current day ones, but to group all "current day ones" together is just silly. I think that assumption alone is a ridiculous one to make. Right now there are three WWE 2011 diaries on the first page and from what I can see none of them are alike. I find that half the people who complain about all the current diaries being the same don't even read them, because that's the only reason you could make just a stupid claim in the first place. I will return his reply because he is apparently the only one who enjoys reading and replying to my diary despite nothing sticking out. Well that just makes my reading and replying to that diary feel worthless. Just kidding. I haven't had a chance to read Hardcore Justice yet, but rest assured that reply is coming asap.
